This is my second time at the rodeo, on 10/18/2011 I had lapband surgery. Shortly after I developed MRSA and needed to have the port and the tubing taken out and wait for the infection to heal. Once healed, I had the tubing and the port put back in (this time the port was placed on the right instead of the left). I had some success, although never finding the perfect "sweet spot" for my band fills. Food never seemed to go down quite right. A lot of coughing up of food and general discomfort. The 70lbs I had lost over the first 1-2 year all came back by the 5 year anniversary. As such, I opted to have my band out on 11/22/2016. The plan is that in three months I'll be having the Gastric Sleeve. This time, I come armed with a MUCH more competent surgeon and high hopes for a tool that will be a better fit for me.
