  1. Hi Maggie, thank you so much for this. I am seeing the pre-op jitters are normal. I am waiting to hear from insurance (they have my paperwork and are reviewing it now). I don't know if I will be banded before or after Thanksgiving. I am lucky in that my nutritionist allows us to go straight to mushies. I am currently on the pre-op (below 40 carbs a day), so I am trying to come up with a menu of what I can have for Thanksgiving for either scenario. Praying we hear from insurance this week. whew.........
  2. Insurance has paperwork and are reviewing. Praying for a speedy approval. whew....

    November Bandsters!!!

Woo Hoo!!!! Looks like I will be a November Bandster. Went to the surgeon today and got everything in motion. It will be faxed on Monday and they told me they usually hear from my insurance within 72 hrs. So we should know by the end of next week, then the scheduling begins. So excited!!!!
  9. Saw the surgeon, paperwork is being faxed over to insurance on Monday. I have to start the atkins diet on Monday. YES!!!!!

  10. Going to see the surgeon today. I am so anxious and excited and nervous and...whew. I have to take a member of my support team with me (my husband will be going). Next stop, insuance.

    Almost Have a Date

I go 10/21 and then they send it all to insurance. I am so excited I could just burst!!! :bananajump: Good luck to you. Look's like we will be banded close together.

    Soo Excited! Almost there!

I am right there with you. I have fullfilled all my insurances obligations and have an appt with the surgeon on Oct. 21st. At that point, they will submit to the insurance. I pray that everything is good and I get a quick thumbs up. I do feel anxious about that now. Like you, it seems now like the time has flown. ha ha, 5 months ago I thought it would take forever. I am not sure what his schedule is like, so I figure worst case would be early December. I am so very ready for this. I have been buying things and preparing like crazy. I live on lapbandtalk and also all the blogs out their of the folks that have already been thru it all. They are so encouraging. Good luck to you!!!!
  13. I see that some insurances differ on getting Fills. I have tried to get a little info on this, but am still lost. Does the insurance cover fills and are they considered surgery? I have noticed this year that every time the doctor punctures you it is listed as a surgical procedure and I then have to pay $150. (example, everytime the podiatrist made the slightest cut on my sons toe [ingrown nail], I have to pay $150. Needless to say, I am now on a payment plan..ugh!)

    100lbs gone!

WOW!!!! That is so awesome. Thank you for sharing your success and getting us newbies excited for our own journeys. Congratulations!:Banane01: :Banane14: :woot:
  15. Well, I did all I had to do, now I get to wait for the insurance. I never understood why folks in here were anxious during this part....well, now I know. I tried to make sure everything was just right, but I am scared I did something wrong. Didn't dot an I or cross a T. ugh!!! Please please please let it all go thru. I am soooooo ready for this.

    The waiting begins

Wow, how crazy. I can't imagine being turned down. I did everything they asked and my bmi is 46, so I am definitely in the morbidly obese category. I am just fearful that my GP maybe worded something that isn't to the insurances liking. I am more nervous about this than I am about the surgery.
  17. Good morning. Yes, was very pleased with all the staff so far. I finally got my final "doc supervised diet and exercise" visit this past monday and then sent everything over to the surgeons office. They will call me with an appt to meet with him and also we have to wait for the thumbs up (I pray) from insurance. Whew, what a journey to get to this journey. :)

    sex drive after lap band?

I am so glad y'all have posted this. I am not banded yet, but have wondered this. (trying hard not to embarrass myself) One, my husband will "hate" to hear that several peoples sex drive have increased. ha ha he says I am gonna kill him now with my current drive (in a good way). Anyhow, I have wondered if different positions cause too much pressure on the port and if it can cause problems.

    Feeling fat oh i am

I have not been banded yet, so I am in the early stages, but I follow several blogs of folks that, even after reaching goal, struggle with the body image. One girl, after losing 111 lbs still thought of herself as fat. She knew she wasn't, but said that it takes awhile for the brain to catch up to the body. So it sounds like it is a normal feeling. Hang in there and keep plugging along and your brain will catch up with your body. Congrats on losing weight. I can't wait to be there.
  20. I didn't even realize the importance of all of this when I chose the group I am going to, but I am sure thankfull they are.
  21. Here in North Carolina, I know of at least one office that does all types of surgeries and they are not (from what I can see) a center of excellence. I opted to go to another town to a team of Bariatric doctors that are a center of excellence. I have some friends that went to the other doctor and did not get NEAR the information I got. The team I am working with is just that, a team that works together and is keeping me informed of everything I need. They psych eval was awsome as well as the nutritionist. They gave me volumes of information where as my friends were told, "you will be able to eat anything you want, just less of it." Well, anyone who has done any research knows that is not true. I am thankful for the team I am going thru and the education they are giving me. They HIGHLY encourage support systems and even offer a once a month support group which I find very helpful. I am looking to be banded in October if my insurance gives me the thumbs up.

    BCBS Fed

ha ha, trust me, I understand. I was just confused because I thought you had completed the 90 days. I will have my last "diet and exercise" visit Sept. 12 and then I will fax those reports to my bariactric doctors office. Then I call and the lady that handles all that will get all my reports together and send them to BCBS-Fed. I must admit, I now understand why everyone is on pins and needles at this point. My bariatric doctors office have been amazing. They have guided me thru all the steps and they are used to the things the insurance ping people on, so they have tried to help me get all my ducks in a row. Still nervous though. I am so ready to get this all going. I am guessing I will probably be banded mid-october....just in time for my b-day. Good luck to you!!!!!

    BCBS Fed

Why will it take 30 days for the info can be sent to the insurance?

    GOODBYE to you!

What an awesome idea. On the Biggest Loser, they record the "old self" telling the new self to keep going and why. I might try that too...record myself telling myself how I feel and to keep up the work.
