    Dropped another size...this is crazy!

fantastic! that's wonderful to read... congrats!!! soon you'll be out of lane bryant completely!
  2. hey heather! so i tried sending you a private message, but apparently i have no idea how to use the internet. i saw a post of yours and wanted to say, i'm 26 also and live in the LA area, i'd love to have some lappyband friends on here/in real life. (esp real life) i was just banded on 5/16. hope you dont mind that i added you as a friend!

  3. i know you're sick of the protein shakes, but i've found Svelt brand (sold at whole foods) to be really good. it basically tastes like chocolate soy milk.... which is awesome. it's a bit higher in calories, but that doesnt really matter as you're barely getting any calories in, anyway. it sucks, i know... i'm on my final 2 days of my 2week post-op liquids and tonight i cheated and had some soft cheese.. i wouldnt recommend it only 5 days in. your tummy is swollen and hurty, needs time to recoup. but time will pass.. it always does !
  4. i was banded on the 16th and it gets a lot better. the first few days were awful - if you havent yet, get some liquid vicodin from your surgeon. sleeping, walking around and water make all the difference. seriously there is no point in being awake those first few days. it's just too painful. it's been almost two weeks for me and the pain is gone. it took about 8 days for the final gas pains in my left side to leave. everyone is different, but remember it's major surgery, takes time to heal. just keep walking, it helps get rid of the gas - which causes most of the pain. it'll get better soon!
  5. when i stand up and move around for too long i start to get an ache around the center of my back. it's driving me nuts! i am supposed to be ready to go back to work by now, arent i!? and i still have this terrible pain on my left front side... apparently there is some tubing there that needs to be more "in place" and walking will help with that? anyone else heard of this? i'd appreciate any help with the situation. i talked to someone in my surgeon's office and she was basically no help
  6. my pre-op diet was just replacing one meal a day with a shake, for the week prior to surgery... honestly, i skipped doing it a couple of days early in the week but then got on the wagon 2 days before my complete fast (the 2 days before surgery i wasnt to eat anything at all, which i think is normal but who knows). you will be fine! but yes, it's all about shrinking that liver so you best be on top of it until then. good luck!

    Pre op diet day 7....help!

i was a heavy diet coke drinker but gave it up several months ago.. oh man, those headaches were awful. my doctor suggested i have some caffeinated tea or coffee.. just a small cup, to help cope with it, and it really helped. i've never been a coffee/tea drinker but that really did it for me. just a small cup will end the headaches. i only needed to do it twice or three times before i was out of the darkness. before you know it you will be feeling fine. i was just banded last week and occasionally still crave my diet soda but dont get sick over it. you can do it! also with the sugar cravings... eesh. i am diabetic but never really took care of myself because i was such a big fan of sugar... but after about 2 weeks without it, the intense cravings really died down. just remember, you're much better and stronger than sugar and soda! the results are worth the withdrawals.. by far!
  8. it took me 8 days to be able to do ANYTHING for more than 10 minutes, that includes standing up, shopping at the market... everyone is different, of course but there's no way i could have even gone to work sitting at a desk the first 7 days. but you're daughter is young and if she's active than her healing time may be much shorter. lots of people seem to recover quite quickly. hope she does! keep us updated
  9. thanks everyone for the help! i actually have been using a massager and walking around a lot and FINALLY last night i turned a corner and the pain is almost nearly gone! excitement! now i'm just generally a bit sore around my belly button but that is nothing compared to what i was feeling. so glad to be on the mend! now if i can just make it to mushy stage on monday, then i'll be golden. woo!

    Banded yesterday and worried

i was banded this past monday and was in terrible pain for the first few days. walking really really helps. i'm still having a lot of pain on my left side when i breathe in or walk, but i plan on talking to my doctor about it this week because it's just getting ridiculous. take the liquid pain meds and sleep through it. thats my advice. when you're awake you should walkwalkwalk and sip on water... other than that i'd try to sleep as much as possible. it helps with the healing process. good luck to you, hope both our pains go away soon

    Any May 2011 Banders?

haha... well, the gas pain and breathing pain on my left side were things i hadnt expecting to be so bad... but now that i'm almost 5 days out it's gotten A LOT better... i might be (kinda) young, but i've been dieting since i've been about 11 years old and couldn't be happier about finally getting this done! cant wait for mushies.. also i recommend getting a script for the liquid vicodin from your surgeon ... there is no way i'd have dealt with the first day or two on just tylenol.. good luck! keep me posted on all your progress!
  12. thanks for the welcome :)

  15. Hi there, my name is Jess and I'm new to the forum here. I was banded this past Monday (yay!) and now that it's Thursday I'm finally starting to feel a little better, even went to the beach and did a walk today. BUT, I'm having this feeling in my abdomen like a gas bubble of fullness is constantly there. I can't burp, and also my left side seems to be hurting a lot, especially when I breathe in deep.. like a stabby sort of thing. I know this is probably normal, but I guess I'd just like to read from others to help me get some peace of mind. Also, I'd love to make some BandedFriends online or in real life. Both people that are newbies like me and ones that know what they're doing and have been around for a while.. I'm 26 and live in the Los Angeles area, been wanting to do this for about 4 years now and finally met Dr. Carson Liu, who was recommended through a friend... Also, anyone else having problems sitting/getting comfortable? i find that sitting up pushes on my belly button area and is quite hurty. okay, thanks for listening to me ramble!
