Would you have WLS again? What kind?
Puppypaws57 replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I would do it again. It is the system that has failed me, not the band. I went to a "Center of Excellence" and had my lapband done. Only this was a brand new bariatric physician and he didn't connect the tubing. He did redo the surgery and then he left. Now I go to another dr. who acts like he doesn't want to be bothered with me. I asked him a question once and the answer was "because I said so". Sorry, but I think we should be in partnership together. I never received psych counseling, dietary counseling, nothing. Just the band. I feel I am basically on my own and it turns out I am just basically on another diet. -
I'm the same way and it is super annoying. Thanks for venting for me.

Wishing there was a 5 year post surgery forum
Puppypaws57 replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm for it. Nothing irritates me more than people posting in the veteran's forum that shouldn't be there! Like, as you saw, they haven't even had surgery or haven't even been out a year. -
Sorry for your struggle. Food is an addition to me too and I don't know how to get over it either. I told my husband (a drinker) I was like the kind of alcoholic who drinks the vanilla and the medicine just for the alcohol. He thought if he had food that I didn't like, that I wouldn't eat it. But I can't help myself.

I feel so BIG. I look at my pants (18W) and think - can I really be that big? When I was 252 the size of my clothes didn't seem to bother me, but now I look at my clothes which I couldn't wear before and am apalled at the size I am wearing. Does anyone else feel like this? My clothes even fit better before. It is like they were made for big women, now shirts are too big in the wrong places. Everything just fits odd. Thanks, Terry

I also find it very offensive and it is always on the first page so I can't sign on without seeing it

GREAT NEW SINGLE LOCATION FOR "STALL TALK!"
Puppypaws57 replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What do you use for sandwiches? -
Yes, it is hard to find clothes when you are bigger and I was just glad to find ANYTHING that fit.
-
Yes, I think that I must have only looked at my face too. Hair - good; make-up good. I must look OK!

Anyone dealing with emotional eating
Puppypaws57 replied to Georgia Pritchett's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
TY. I think I'm the only one who is so out of touch with my feelings that I don't know what I am feeling when I eat. I notice when I write down my food it is a huge help. -

Thank you for explaining that! -
Changing how I consume my protein
Puppypaws57 replied to Kindle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You'll be fine at 20-25 in an hour. It will actually digest over several hours. Just don't go for any more at 1 shot. What do you mean "at 1 shot"? I have a whey Protein Drink with 40 grams of protein (Isopure) but it takes me all day to drink it. Is my protein getting absorbed? -
LOLRH? please explain. I'm not aware of these abbreviations.

OK, how do you handle these kinds of situations?
Puppypaws57 replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you did the right thing. That fat girl is a person of the past. Why have new people in your life know you as a former fat person when you have worked so hard? Sandy M - I think you did the right thing too. -
You are right, we need to figure out why we emotionally eat to stop it. I can't figure it out. Every one of you is way ahead of me in figuring it out. I looked for a psychologist in my area that specializes in this to help me figure this out but there aren't any. Overeaters Anymous meets Sunday mornings and that is when I go to church.

I SOOOO agree with you. Lap Banders have specific questions and need and I was wondering why others were on our boards. Hope they change it. Thanks for bringing this up!

I tried it. They sent info to my dr. and wrote back and said he denied it. I never talked to my dr. about it. I don't normally drink their shakes, but hey, if they were covered why not?
-
What are you being denied? I see you had been banded and lost a lot of weight.

No fluid in band, still have restriction
Puppypaws57 replied to Angeladarling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Something similar happened to me. Dr. did a barium swallow and an endoscopy so all my fluid was out, but I was still restricted. -
I am having the same trouble. At first I had no trouble and didn't even know it was there. Now, I feel it all the time and have discomfort when I reach for something, but I can always feel it. I don't like it! :-)
-
OK - Went in for my first fill (after 2 years). The dr. didn't know how much I had in so he pulled all my liquid out. Then he had me drink an 8 oz glass of Water. I had to stop 1/2 thru it, but I got it down. I guess I had an air bubble. THEN he wants me to drink another 8 oz glass of water - WHO CAN DO THAT??? I drank some, but it got stuck on my chest and I thought I was going to throw up so I told him so. One of the rules I have is not to gulp water and that is what they want me to do during the test? He doesn't understand what the problem is since my band is now empty. I mean that is a lot of liquid to ask me to drink, isn't it? Is this how other people get fills? He doesn't understand what the problem is so I have an endoscopy planned plus a barium swallow to take pictures of my lap band. Does this sound normal to anyone? Thanks, Terry
