Is this normal after surgery?
WEESIE replied to dmg223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had dizziness and weakness after a bath when I use hot water . It doesn't hit me until I get out. I have to go back to bed and rest before I can get dressed when this happens. I have always taken extremely hot baths or showers. Since surgery I have had to keep the temp a little cooler. You might try that if you take a very hot shower. -
If you go to the homepage there is a link to put in your zip code and they will show where it is available. Near me it is at Sams Club and Cost Plus. http://www.torani.com/home

Thanks Debora Anne, yes that "me time" was important to get me through another day.

SIL was doing better yesterday so I spent the night at home last night. I slept well and got to walk to the Family Walk video. Got up this morning and walked with it for 19 minutes. The one mile point is at 15 minutes. As I finished my walk, my husband called from the hospital and his sister had taken a turn for the worst. Her fever went up to 102.4 and she was totally out of it. I rushed on over, but this time I packed a little bit of high protein liquids. She awakened a little while ago as if nothing had happened. I think I will see if I can pull up the video on the internet and use headphones to do my walk in the room.

My first full day up without any pain meds was Tuesday. I went out with my son, went shopping and walked for 10 minutes. When I was on my way home I found out that my SIL was being admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery. I headed over there and stayed with her until she went into surgery. The tired and weakness set in right after they wheeled her back. I was unable to rest while she was in surgery and then I got 2.5 hours of sleep that night. I stayed with her around the clock until last night when my husband was able to relieve me so I could come home and relax for a few hours. I'll be back with her by noon today. Eating at the hospital without any prior preparation has been difficult, but I made wise compromises. I have not gotten my protein in. I have had yogurt for breakfast and soup from the cafeteria for lunch and dinner. One day it was clam chowder where I mashed the potatoes and left the few pieces of clam. Yesterday it was tomato soup and then mexican wedding soup. I left the meatballs of this behind. Last night my husband took me out to eat at a deli and I had potato soup. I am eating too many carbohydrates, but reminding myself that healing is the objective here. I didn't need anything for pain for two days. Starting yesterday I have needed a little pain med. The area of the hernia repair is sore. I don't know why. When I came home llate last night I wanted to work but it was too late to go outside. I founda video on demand on Verizon Fios called "Family Walk". It is just walking to music, basically. I did that for 15 minutes. Yesterday I managed to get in 7500 steps of my 8000 steps goal. Pretty good considering the lack of normal routine here.

Thank you for the link to your blog. Now that I read your experience it won't be a total surprise when I go in two weeks.

You were pretty at the start, but you are absolutely beautiful now!

You are so loving to cook for your husband during this difficult time in your life. It is good to hear that you are doing better with your blood pressure already. It's exciting that you are so close to your surgery day. You are going to do well.

Congratulations! You have been focused and it has paid off! -
Is it dangerous if you use this suit and get too hot? I would worry about heat stroke. Is it possible or does it do a different kind of heat? I am confused. Will it help you speed up your metabolism or just sweat?

It's good to hear that you are feeling well enough to go to a wedding. It is hard having to eat out of your home while still on the post op diet. It sounds like you are making it work for you. It won't be long until we move on to the next steps in diet and adapting to life with the band. Keep up the good work and best wishes to you!

How to Avoid Loose Skin After Surgery
WEESIE replied to whippoorwillow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read in my insurance benefit information that if it is causing a rash, pain, etc. etc that it could be covered. I don't remember the exact terminology but it could be worth looking into. -
So today was a good day. I didn't have much pain but I was really tired all day. I don't know why and I just went with it. I sat in the front yard for a couple of hours and enjoyed the sunshine. My Body Bugg arrived today. I am trying to learn how to use it with my phone. I'm excited because the first time I put it on was as I took a walk down the block. I would like to enjoy exercise. I never have. I'm looking for a lot of changes in my life and maybe that will be the first one.

How many incisions do you have?
WEESIE replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I got my book yesterday.. I read it until 1:00 in the morning. I agree that it is very well written with a lot of information. Thanks for the tip. -
Mandy, we were banded a week ago today. I was sticking to the clear liquids until I called the doctor yesterday. They said I could have soups (it was on my list but I didn't understand it). They said I should just be sure that there are NO chunks in the soup and make sure it is not a heavy soup. I have been more satisfied since I added soups. I put the soup in my Magic Bullet and drink it slowly over 20 minutes or so.

How many incisions do you have?
WEESIE replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have six. I have two large ones at the top and a smaller one under my bra line. I assume the larger one and extra one are due to the hiatal hernia repair. She did say it was LARGE, with an emphasis on large. -
I'm so excited!!! I'm driving and getting out of the house today. This will be my first day to drive.

My doctor gave me the choice of one or two weeks. That was before surgery and I took one. I am on the one week point which would be my day to go back. Since this weeks schedule was already out by the time my release went through the system, it will be two weeks. I need two weeks. I have a physically demanding job. I have worked up to being able to walk 17 minutes at a time. I still need pain meds occasionally to keep my blood pressure down. I don't know how a doctor can predict how much time it will take to recover ahead of time. Everyone and even within one person every operation is different. I'd say, take the max and go back early if you feel better.

Vicky, I am impressed by your progress with minimal fills. I noticed you are almost half way to your goal. You go girl!

Post-Honeymoon but pre-first-fill phase
WEESIE replied to BandedKitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We will have to hang together. I am six days post op. A couple of days ago I thought I was starving to death, literally. Then yesterday I found some old Metafast soup and mixed it up. It had 13 g of protein and 3 g or carbohydrate. I made it real thin and I lost my appetite. Today I called the surgeons office and they said that is a good choice because of the protein. They told me that I could have anything that is runny and doesn't have chunks but keep it light. In other words, I can't have a runny steak. I am doing so much better at this point. I was so tired of sweet. -
HI all of Texas Bandsters. I am looking for fellow True Results Bandsters. I would like input from you on this center, especially aftercare at this point. I don't have much information about how it works. I was banded May 25th, 2011 and my first appointment it a month from now, but I'm curious. I did put a topic with a physician and hospital thread lower on the talk forum page. Looking forward to seeing how many of us are out here. Thank you.

It seems like you are doing well to be online so soon after surgery. Have a smooth and speedy recovery so we can get on with this. I had surgery one week ago tomorrow and today I have very little pain.
