I had surgery because my health problems are even more "weighty" than my size. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, gastric reflux and fibromyalgia. I hope to take less medicine and be healthier.

I was always one of those "skinny people". I grew up being able to eat anything I wanted to and never gained weight. I seemed to eat huge amounts of food. Now, looking back I realize that I always took a long time to eat and ate small bites. For example, a green bean was eaten in bites which were always no more than one little bean at a time. I mean the bean inside the green. So, I seemed to eat a lot more than I did. When I had children there wasn't as much time available to eat so I learned to eat faster. Weight still wasn't a problem, but I was learning the bad habits that would get me to this situation I'm in now.

When my children were little I went ot school to become a Medical Technologist. At work I never got a lunch, but had to eat between patients or lab runs. I learned to eat even faster. Then, I got Hepatitis C. This slowed me down but I didn't lose my apetite. While I was sick for 13 years, I doubled my weight. When I tried to diet I got sick so I was helpless.

Through a miracle of modern medicine, I was put into a long remission of the hepatitis, but left with the weight. So, I am now a banded hepatitis C survivor.
