I'm so happy, my excitement for the band is back! I have gone through so many emotions since first deciding to have this procedure done. Never in my life did I think I would enjoy counting calories and finding healthy alternatives to my favorite addictions I have to say thanks to everyone on here bc reading all of your questions, responses, and just everything on here has really helped me to finally be a good band patient.

Worst feeling in the world! I tried cramming my big mouth with some chicken, swallowed like I've done a million times since being banded. And guess what!? This fill actually tightened me up. I don't know whether to be happy or what. Yeah I think I'll go with happy! Even though I just threw my insides up getting it unstuck. I have learned another lesson and HAVE to break that terrible habit now! Whew!

Nooooo! Not at all.

Yes! So glad it didn't last longer than it did. I haven't had real restriction like this with any of the fills in the last 5 months. It's definitely a different feeling. It's only been 2 days since my dr visit and fill but what difference your band actually being where it needs to be can make. I hope this lasts!

Finally a light bulb went off in my head yesterday! After about 6 fills now and me complaining that it's not working. I realize what I've done wrong so far. I was banded June 1 and had a rocky start. Started having esophagial spasms, got hospitalized for dehydration and ended up having my prime removed. So my surgeon has slowly been trying to get me filled to the green zone. BUT I used my bumps in the road as excuses to not follow the rules. Telling myself "oh I can over eat bc my prime was removed and its just going to take longer to get me right again" NO I made a mistake in making those excuses. I HAVE to measure my food and not want that "stuffed" feeling I've always been seeking. I have to make the right food choices, the band won't do that for me. I have definitely been going through bandster hell over these last 5 months! But stepping on the scale at the dr office and seeing 5 of the 25lbs I've lost so far come back was a real wake up call!! I've made a commitment to do this right now and be accountable. To stop avoiding the scale. Can't believe it took this long. So happy to be back and ready to do this!

Thanks everyone! Prime is what my surgeon says is the small amount of fluid they put in during surgery

Hey everyone, I also have taken a break to recover a bit, I have had horrible gas pains over the past week. I've walked and walked and went back to work one day. I have to admit that is the absolute worse pain so far, besides that my incisions have been healing wonderfully and haven't really been painful at all. I did have to go back to my surgeon to have some of the "prime" taken out of the band. He said that I had extra swelling from the hernia he stitched up so it was too much pressure with the gas so the band was too "tight". I didn't even know there was any Fluid at all in the band, but he took 2cc out. Today, day 8 I feel back to normal, Thank the lord. So my advice to everyone who is getting ready to be banded...Invest in a heating pad, stock up on Gas X strips, and be prepared to take the pain meds they give them to you for a reason .There is a light at the end of the tunnel, this is not a painless procedure in my case, the gas is nothing to shrug off or think is nothing when you read other's posts about it but If I can do it you can do it! I've already lost 12lbs so far which is worth it to me! Take care everyone and GOD bless!

Chest Pain 3 Days Post Op! Any Advice?
Mea425 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone!I was banded 6/1, Today I haven't been on any pain medicine, I'm wanting to be off all of the pain meds to get back to work Wednesday. My incisions are a little sore but the worst of the pain is in my chest. I'm guessing it is gas still? The Dr. said he put a couple of stitches in my diaphragm due to my it being weak not sure if that has anything to do with the pain but I didn't realize he had done this until my family told me yesterday. hmm. Guess I still had so much medicine in me I wasn't feeling all of this in my chest until today. I'm just wondering if it's gas or something else I should be worried about. I've been up and walking and using a heating pad but the pain is still coming and going in my chest. I've taken milk of magnesia, and been drinking clear liquids. I'm praying it's just gas that's going to work itself out. I'd have to say this is the worst pain so far. -
Awe I'm glad it made you smile! Here's this mornings update Hey guys, Just want to give you an update. Im very sore today, kind of hard to pull myself up without help but it's not unbearable thank the lord. My throat is sore due to the breathing tube, but Im not experiencing anymore trapped gas, hopefully that is all out. I've just been snoozing away and takin advantage of getting taken care of. Still sipping Water from the little medicine cups and using my little "breathing machine" I have to do 10 times every hour and cough. My blood pressure is staying on the low side but other than that, That pretty much sums the night and this morning so far. I'll keep you guys updated as things change. Thanks so much everyone for your support. I have a feeling everyone is going to do great as well!

Hi! My surgery went very well today. They got me all ready with the IV and in my gown by 11:00 am and took me down to the operating room, which was freezing, but as soon as they "knocked me out" I woke up in the recovery room. I had the best recovery nurses. The only "painful" parts was the numbing agent for the IV which just stung a little, and It felt funny to breathe, like a good bit of pressure on my chest when I woke up but the nurses took awesome care of me and made sure I was comfortable until i got in my room. My incisions are sore but other than that I'm doing great! Already been up walkin around and sipping water. you will do great! Try not to stress or worry about the surgery part none of it is bad enough to not get the band. I am so happy I'm staying over night. I think it makes. Difference from what I've read and now experiencing. Good luck! And I'll try to post how I feel tomorrow and so forth.

Well I'm currently in charge of my wife's phone and I was just reading through all these posts from all you ladies, I wish you all the best. My wife is in recovery now, the doctor came out and said everything went better than he could have expected. I'm waiting to see her now, shouldn't be too much longer. Good luck ladies and I'm glad my wife has a support group here to help her in her journey.

I'm so excited to have so many buddies now! I haven't been able to get on since I started this so I'm honestly ecstatic to see I'm not alone now! I have my consultation with my Dr. tomorrow at 10 a.m. The surgery scheduler was surprised to know I hadn't even had my consultation yet and they were already scheduling my surgery. Funny how all of this goes so slow (dealing with insurance) and then wham it's all at once. I have all of my appointments this week, consultation tomorrow, Thursday 5/31 my dietary consultation @ 11 a.m. and Pre testing same day @ 1:00 p.m.. Surgery this Friday 6/1 @ 11:30 a.m. I'm looking forward to talking to My Dr. tomorrow and finding out everything I didn't at the seminar. I'm really stressing over the post op liquid diet, I wasn't required to do a pre op one so I'm very nervous about that and all the gas pains I'm reading about.

June 1 is my day I'm so excited and scared at the same time! I'm concerned that having surgery Friday and returning to work Monday is going to be hard, how long is everyone else planning on resting up?
