    Lost 201 Pounds

Thank you all for the very nice compliments. In answer to some of your questions I just mainly left my sleeve work for me. I eat 6 times a day. 60 grams of Protein, 64 oz of liquid and about 800 to 1000 calories a day. I do alot of swimming. I just joined a gym to work on the machines. I still have 79 pounds to loose and have slowed up this past month. I stayed the same this week- this is the first week I did not loose. we will see what happens. But I feel great. I will ask my husband to help me put pictures on here. I am not sure how to do it. isn't the sleeve the best thing since sliced bread. :Banane55: A BIG Cheer for all of us who had the sleeve done and for our wonderfull surgeons. Denise

  4. well hello all, I have posted on this site once in awhile but read daily. July 2010, I went to my surgeons office to start my gastric bi pass process. well they talked me into a DS instead. So I went throught the long process of what we all need to do. when I woke up from surgery I found out I got sleeved instead and that I can come back in a year to get my plumbing rerouted(LOL). My sleeve was done on April 7, 2011. They did the sleeve due to gall stones stuck to the lining of my adominal wall. I had my gaul bladder removed 4 years ago and there was still gaul stones left in me. I was so upset, but then I joined this site when I came home from the hospital and saw how much people can really loose with the sleeve. I became more positive. Well as of today I am down 147 pds since my april surgery and 197 pds all together. I did this to add years to my life and never realized how my present life would change. I feel wonderful and love my sleeve. Guess what I am 83 pounds from goal and won't be having my plumbing rerouted. Denise

It is definitly normal to be nervous. I was so scared the day of surgery I cried in the or room before they put me under . They were great they talked with me and calmed me down and I was impressed how they gave me that time to calm down. I have not heard of any complications and I was able to drive after 2 weeks and go back to work after 4. so you will need a driver to take you both to your 1 week appointment. what are POCS?? I am glad you both will be there Tuesday- I sit in the back before we break out into groups. I was suppose to get the ds but when Dr. G went in there I had gall stones stuck to my wall of my stomach ( I had gaul bladder taken out 4 yrs ago and there were stones left in Ugh- Dr. G was afraid of infection so I got the sleeve instead- he said he did not want to mess with my plumbing at that point and can come back in a year for the 2nd half of the ds and well I love my sleeve and am loosing a nice amount of weight with this surgery does not really have much complications- now you can like any surgery have some but they are much lower then the ds or gastric bi pass. although my husband is getting the ds in november by Dr. G. looking forward to meeting you and your husband. I can give you our phone # then. Denise

Hello I was thrilled when I saw your post. I had my sleeve done April of this year and am down 129 pds since surgery. 179 pds all together. Dr. G is my surgeon and he is great , they are both very good and wonderful surgeons. I go to the support group every 3rd tuesday of the month and have never heard of any complaints about either surgeon. The whole process was a wonderful expierence. The office staff and nutritionist, along with the nurses etc are a great team. I had no problems , but did have alot of questions when I came home from surgery if something was normal or not and when I called they called back right away. I was fine though. I will eb at the support group on Tuesday night if you want to talk in person we are breaking out into goups by what surgery we have. My name is Denise B.

All these things have taken the place of my head hunger. I understand about husbands he did not not understand either but is going through his process and scheduled for Nov 21st sugery and well i think he is starting to understand now. All will be well just take it a day at a time and enjoy this wonderful journey you are starting. don't forget to take monthly pictures- It is great looking back. Denise

    The Dreaded Slimes

Good Morning!! you might want to try egg beaters ( they are not as rich as real eggs) the slimes can still happen to me after almost 6 months ,not as often though, this depends on if I eat too fast or if I am upset when I eat or you mentioned taking bites while you were doing other things. I have learned that I need to just sit and eat and then sit for about 10 minutes afterwards to let my food settle before I start to move too much. things get better and you learn what is best as time goes on.
  19. The best thing I ever did for myself you will do Great
  20. What Vitamins do you take? This is why I'm such a huge advocate for taking a complete, ADULT, multi-Vitamin. Of course, trending your labs based on your food consumption, and your own personal health is essential, but supplementing with a high quality vitamin is so important. The article doesn't even discuss free radicals, and all the preservatives that are added to foods that destroy micro and macro nutrients in our bodies. At over 2 years out, I have never been deficient in any levels. At 18 months post-VSG, my B12 did go way too high, we cut my dose back to 1/2500mcg sublingual every couple of days, and my numbers dropped back down to normal within 2-2.5 months. Remember, that a lot of the vital minerals and vitamins are Water soluble, and those are the ones we find more and more VSG patients getting deficient in. The first 3-9 months most levels will stay within normal ranges especially with the fat soluble vitamins. BUT, after that first 12-18 months is when we really have to watch our levels. Great article ! ! !
  21. I won;t repeat what others have said but you need to think of your 3 year old and don't you want to be there for him or her?

    Binging prior to surgey

Good Morning I had my sleeve April 7th and I know what you are going through. But the closer you get to surgery you will realize that binging is the worst you can do. You want your liver not to be enlarge and not being on a weight reduction program will not help this. Once i had my surgery I have not been hungary, I eat by seeing what time it is. I used to love sweets and the other day took a crumb of a chocolate chip cookie which I loved before surgery and I thought ohhh how gross. I had to spit it out. I don't care if I ever eat junk again. Now they do not do surgery on our minds so mentally you think you want these things but after you start loosing which happens quick you get into shopping for new clothes and the complements seem to replace the food. You will be fine but what your going through is normal. Denise
