Lucky you! You look fabulous. Congrats on your success and wonderful skin recovery. Lynda -
I'll be thinking of you. Best wishes for a speedy and I eventful surgery and recovery. Lynda

So sorry Laura Ven. I hope you can let that hurt go and move on. Some people inflict pain on purpose, some without ever realizing that they did. But whatever they say, it's really in their minds, not mine. I prefer to only compare myself to myself. How am I doing compared to last year? Am I better at this than I was last time I tried it? Drink a nice cup of tea or whatever and reflect on your success. You are loved on this forum, you are loved by your family, you are doing a great job of being supportive here and at home. And you look fabulous! Lynda

I Lived Through This Surgery, My Sister Didn't.
lsereno replied to LyndseyD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lyndsey, Thank you for sharing your family's story. I agree it is important for everyone considering this surgery to realize that there are risks. Each person should consider those risks, but they can't do that without stories such as yours, in addition to the stories of those that suffer complications that do not result in loss of life, and the lucky ones who do not have any complications. I am thinking of you and your family. Lynda -
Whoa Nellie! I go to coast one day and everyone and their brother jumps in the pool while I'm gone! I'm glad to so many familiar faces posting. I'm still unhappy with the new layout on the site and app, but it's still better than any other online support group because of all of you. In no certain order: Like PDXman and Butter, I indulge in tasty treats. The difference between now and and preop is how often and how much. I cannot have certain foods in the house. Cookies, Cheetos and cake all fall in that category. I may manage to resist them, but it's a constant fight with myself to leave them alone. It's so much easier to not have them here. I do eat them, but it's outside of the house or at a party when I send leftovers home with others. I ate a lot preop and a lot of very fattening foods. Although I'm fairly good at self control, I simply could not get my eating under control, no matter what I tried. This surgery was a lifesaver for me. I cannot eat whatever I want now. Like others, I want junky food a lot. Even now. I choose to not eat it. And speaking of choice, I understand that it's hard for people to understand addiction issues. My feeling? No matter what anyone says, there was at least one issue or they wouldn't be a weight loss surgery patient. So, if you can understand it or not, I think you should be kind to anyone who us struggling because... You can't hate yourself thin. I'm 2.5 years post op and more than 1.5 years at goal, but I'm still afraid of regain and I still have bouts with disordered eating. And my bougie was 40. Lynda

yep. And there is one in the Great Mall too. Lynda

Walmart and Target for tops, sweaters, workout clothes and jackets. Macys for bras and undies and dressier clothes. Levis for jeans. Also have found things at Forever 21, H and M, Marshalls, Kohls, and Pennys. Lynda

Yep,IMO, that's the only way together people to change. Be such a good model they can't resist! And if they don't change, at least you will be healthier to deal with it. On his bringing stuff in you shouldn't eat, try to segregate it from your food so it's easier to stay out of it. Lynda

Did you know him well before? He may nit remember what you looked like two years ago. I once asked a guy at work, "where do you sit?" Turned out he sat DIRECTLY across from me and had for about eight months. Doh. Lynda

It's been a long time since I broke up, but your message reminded me that I always missed them and dreaded change, even though I knew it was for the best. Find something fun to fill the hole he left in your life. lunch with friends, a fall hike, a new set of sheets. Whatever. I'm thinking of you. Lynda

Quit nagging. Now. Does someone nagging you make you more likely to want to do something? It doesn't do it for me. Be the loving wife. Rock your new sleeve. As you lose weight, he may choose to eat more healthy. If he doesn't, is that a deal breaker for you? Many years ago, the doctor told my husband to quit smoking immediately because of some lung issues. We both quit, but he fell off the wagon about a month later. He didn't quit for another 20 years. Now we both live with those consequences to his health because I love him more than a pair of healthy lungs. I wish he could have quit earlier but I know nagging would not have made that happen. I do think seeing how,y health stayed better because I quit smoking did eventually help him to quit. Lynda

I don't know how I missed this earlier! Congrats new vets and welcome to the party. Don't forget to post. In the big pants thread! Lynda

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

Congrats! Under-crackers is a new term to me. But whatever they are, I bet you look great in them! Lynda -
Goal is where you are happy. Not your mate, friends or family members, but YOU. And it's definitely not decreed by a BMI chart! So, Laura-Ven, welcome to life at goal! I love it here. What are you giving yourself for reaching goal? Lynda
-
Well I'm just gonna check in once to say I'm not gonna hit my goal. More than halfway thru the month and not one strength training class yet. Ugh. I'm just not an exercise maven even though I know the strength training helps keep me heathy as I age. Lynda

my Walmart carries it. Lynda

Start with whole grain bread for some of them. If you're still having trouble with soft bread, use toast for some. Make chicken salad or egg salad with Greek yogurt and reduced fat cram cheese. Make some using low fat lunch meats. Use a little more protein or veggies in the filling. Make some open faced. I love tea sandwiches too. Laughing cow makes a low cal blue cheese wedge. Not as tasty as a good blue cheese, but acceptable. Lynda

thanks! I used vegetables to decorate it as a visual clue, but I also stood by and served it so everyone knew what they were getting. More than one person said, "oh we're mixing desserts with main dishes" before they knew what it was. Lynda

thanks! Another advantage of getting the surgery. I fit in off the rack vintage clothes. Lynda

Thanks! I found the recipe in my 1950s Betty Crocker cookbook that my mom got when she got married. Lynda

that sounds fun, except the shoes. I wore a vintage bathing suit once, circa 1900 (the suit, not when I wore it!) I can see why a lot of women didn't swim. Between the long sleeves, full skirt, knickers and stockings, it was a bit much.
