Maintainers, what is your carb level/intake like?
lsereno replied to Jenny12's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Not sure, but I have carbs with each meal. I have whole grain bread, cereal, or oatmeal with breakfast and one small serving of fruit with breakfast or as a snack. At lunch and dinner, I have a starch, such as a few ounces of sweet potato, whole grain bread or crackers, or Beans. I also have a small amount of non-starchy veggies with both meals and another small piece of fruit as a snack. Lynda -
When Life Gets In The Way Of The Sleeve
lsereno replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For the OP, I hear ya! I'm 2.5 years out and the days of eating a bite or two and being stuffed are long behind me. Not that I don't have restriction- I do, but I could easily eat enough to gain at pretty rapid clip. I told myself my present to me this year is to get to Christmas at goal weight. I had started eating a lot of extras in early fall, and by time time Thanksgiving rolled by, it was time to put the brakes on. I am not eating sugar on most days, no fatty Snacks, no snacks after dinner, and I'm tracking my Fluid intake. It's working for me. I do have lots of low calorie holiday treats, such as sugar free hot cider and Greek yogurt spinach dip with crudités. And I'm doing a ton of holiday stuff with family and friends. Instead of thinking of watching what you eat as a punishment, think of it as your gift to yourself. Lynda -
Maybe a nice bracelet? I asked for one when I was at normal BMI. So nice to fit in a smaller bracelet! Lynda

Cathy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Like you and LV, fear of dying pushed me into surgery. Wishing you a speedy and uneventful journey to goal and a happy lifetime on the Losers' Bench. Lynda

All Dressed Up: Gratuitous Picture Posting

Wow, love those curves! You look fabulous GG! -
Yeah, those are my main ways to stay on track, but it's really tough at more than 2.5 years out. Today, I am following my naturally thin grandson's lead. We made several kinds of Cookies and candy, but he hasn't eaten more than a bite or two. Not even a cookie. Just a tiny taste of each thing as we were making them. I can hear them calling my name, but I am telling them to SHUTUP! I'm gonna be at goal or a little under on Christmas. And I'm getting my body fat measured in a bod pod in January. Lynda

Yes, I sometimes see heavier people who don't know me judging me. They have no idea I was once them and that I know all that goes with being the biggest person in the room I was very judgmental when I was young because I had never struggled with my weight and I had NO IDEA. Well, that certainly changed as I gained weight and could not take it off. Now, I am very open about my operation, but I would never approach a stranger and discuss it. I am afraid I will regain the weight, but that is a personal struggle between me, myself, and I. It is not a judgement of anyone else. Lynda

There's food on my Christmas tree!
lsereno replied to longtimecoming7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a lot of baking focused ornaments including a spice chest, sugar bowl, and mixing cup, several gingerbread people, real candy canes, knit candy canes and Oreo Cookies, and Santa peddling an ice cream truck. I also have Santa on a scale, which my mom got me when I got to goal weight in weight watchers in 1994. I am so happy to be at goal again, all these many years later. Lynda -
Alternative to Protein Shake?
lsereno replied to kimikat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought mine direct from Unjury. I've never seen it in a store. Lynda -
I think you should stay too. You can more about 5:2 on the vets forum. There's a thread for it there. They also gave a private group under the general support groups. I know Laura Ven and feedyoureye and Georgia are all in it, so if all else fails, you could message them. Lynda

Constipation, BM and other embarrassing stuff

I used Colace stool softener. If things are really backed up, I needed something else to help it along. With laxatives and softener she sure to get your Water in. Lynda -
its still showing in one of your posts on this thread. (Dec 11 at 8:20 am). I'm so sorry your experience has been so crappy. I hope all your issues are resolved soon. Lynda

When Life Gets In The Way Of The Sleeve
lsereno replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Agree with the silent eye. My mom is young and pretty and I had my son young too. I still remember my kindergarten teacher asking noisy questions about how old my mother and grandmother were. And then she got mad because I told her my grandma was 16, which is what she told me. As a 4 year old I didn't understand that wasn't possible. She was the first of a long line of noisy people. I agree the silent eye does it. Lynda -
Sassy, I like low fat lunch meats and cheeses, canned low fat chili, rotisserie chicken, canned tuna, shrimp and crab meat. For the lunch meats and cheeses, early out, before I could eat bread, I rolled them together and ate it like that. For the chicken, I slice it and portion it, freezing what I can't eat fast enough. I freeze it in sandwich baggies. You can add the chicken to canned Soups, mix with mayo, or heat and eat with BBQ sauce. Further out, it is good in salads too. I buy the precooked minute rice in brown rice or whole gran medley. Each little cup is two servings. Just heat in the microwave. I also buy meats from the precooked deli section. Not sure if you have a Whole Foods nearby but they have great cooked stuff and we eat so little it doesn't matter that it's pricey. Lynda

happy birthday and welcome to the goalies bench! I'm not sure if I've congratulated you on another forum, but if I have the more congrats the merrier! I agree, even if you visit the 60s, I hope you gang here with us. I've got two birthdays left before I leave the 50s. Lynda

thanks MG. I'm working it! Last year over the holidays I put on 5 lbs and it took awhile to come off. This year I changed my bounce range to just two lbs. I went over my bounce range right around thanksgiving and I put the brakes on when I started this post. I've got to say, it's hard but it feels really good. Today I turned down a Sees sample candy. I'm saving my extra calories for family gatherings. Lynda

I drink almost all my fluids hot in the winter. Today, I've had 1 cup of coffee, 3 cups of hot water, 1 cup room temp water, and 1 cup sugar free hot apple cider. I will have two more cups of something between now and bedtime. Probably another cup of hot water and either gingerbread tea or if I feel hungry, a hot cup of soy milk with nutmeg sprinkled on top. Lynda

Thanks Kathy. And yes Georgia, I love the new pic too! BTW, I am a granny of six: 19 to 11. We start early in my family :-) I've got the Water in, no sweets, and I'm about to go to bed because I would really, really a snack right now, but I would love being at goal on Christmas more. So I'm gonna have a cup of gingerbread tea and call it a night. Grateful for this group for the strength and goodwill to stick to my 12 days of Christmas. Getting one grandson Friday-Sunday and my only granddaughter is coming to bake next Wednesday-Thursday. So no Snacks now and I will have a little treat with them then. Lynda

no. Have to get it online though. http://www.dialyvite.net/ferrimin150.html Lynda

Congrats! You are a success and I love the selfie! At this point, it's all vanity pounds, but I know what you mean about getting there. I take Ferrimin 150 when I need it. My program recommends ferrous fulmar ate Iron. The Ferrimin includes a stool softener because iron alone can be pretty binding. I take it right before bed because you're supposed to wait 2 hrs after taking Calcium.

Yes Georgia, great christmas present to ourselves: goal weight! Posting here really helps me think things through and stay on track. Lynda

Eight weeks out: Can I eat nuts now?
lsereno replied to outwithbenjiboi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have some Peanut Butter. Programs vary, but nuts are hard little bits that are hard to digest and likely to stick where you don't want them. Eat some peanut butter or PB2. Drizzle a little walnut oil on something. My program allowed only soft foods and didn't even allow beef for the first six weeks. Read through the complications forum to get some idea of what can go wrong. Lynda
