Feeling of regret.. :( :(
Always singing replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tamz, Thank you so much for your post. I am one week out today and I have felt as though I should be able to do more, feel better, and not be in any more pain. Well I realized that I am not giving myself credit for the things that are better. I read so many posts where others come home with no pain, are able to do things and have little to no problems. I also have someone very close to me who went through a bypass several years ago and he did not even have to take the pain meds after the first day he was home and was able to sip fine. I remember telling the doctor the first time he came to see me in the hospital and I told him I was in a lot of pain and he was surprised saying, "really most patient's are not in that much pain." I have felt disappointed in myself at times thinking that I am a wimp and I should be doing better. So, what I do is try to remember that everyone is different and no one is going to experience it the same. I was so happy that last night was the first night I slept through the night without meds and still did not take them until I absolutely needed it around 11am. I also was happy when I tried Crystal Light fruit punch this morning and i loved it and was able to take bigger drinks. I am also happy that I was able to take a walk outside that was longer than I had before. So all this to say I am trying to look at the positives and not the negative. I do see everyday as getting better and not setting expectations so high. The one thing that makes me not regret my choice is when I stepped on the scale this morning and I saw that within the first week I had lost 11 lbs. I think that is pretty fantastic. So I guess we need to take the bad and the ugly to be able to reach our ultimate goal of health I am praying that you will be able to focus more on the positive and less on the negative and that you soon are able to see change. Keep us posted and please feel free to vent anytime. -
Staying Hydrated
Always singing replied to sleeve newbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week out and I too find it difficult to get all my fluid in through sipping. Not quite sure what it is. I realized that drinking through a straw was giving me gas pains so I changed to a cup or water bottle and I found that it just was not cutting it. Since Friday I started having crushed ice and it has been my savior. I always have a cup of it with me and just constantly eat it. I went to the movies and took a thermos full of crushed ice and sat through the movie eating it as if it was popcorn (it was actually nothing like it) but at least I had something. I also did the same for my daughters softball game, It is great because I don't feel so dehydrated and there is no gas. Not sure if it will work for you but it worth a try. i hope things get better. -
That time of the month....
Always singing replied to Candace2314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad you posted this question. I have been wondering the same thing. i just had my surgery on Monday and I am due for my period in about a week. This time of the month is already horrible for me so I wanted to know if other women have experienced it worse after surgery. I am not looking forward to it. -
Sleeved 6/6/2011
Always singing replied to Neanie in Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was also sleeved on the 6th. I can honestly say I was not prepared for the amount of pain that I had on that day. I was extremely nauseous from the anesthesia and had to get up every half hour to go to the bathroom because they were pumping me with so much Fluid. The medical staff were great and were trying to make me as comfortable as possible. I experienced horrible pain that night when I felt extreme pressure in the area of my rib cage. I did not know what it was and then all of a sudden this tiny burp came out and I was like OMG, it's pent up gas I seem to be experiencing it most when I am moving from lay down to sit up position and sometimes even a hiccup (which hurts). I am not sure if I am being a whimp about the pain or if I am just different. I previously have had 2 c-sections and a hernia repair and this seems the worst. Well, even though I have pain I do not regret my decision and am looking forward to being able to move with ease. ~Anna Alvarez -
ANY JUNE SLEEVERS OUT THERE???
Always singing replied to A New Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My date is June 6th. I have been on an 800 calorie diet. I have been using Premier Protein shakes. They are from Costco and are chocolate flavor. I am very picky and have found these to be very good. I blend them with ice and have added banana at times. I'm getting excited and cannot believe that I am less than one week away.
