  1. Hey folks, 8 months out from surgery and I've lost almost 70 pounds and couldn't be happier. It's literally the best decision I've ever made. However, starting two months ago I noticed that I'm getting a couple of bald hsukrds (circles) on my face where my beard would grow. Has any other men experienced this type of hair loss on their facial hair? Thank you in advance for the replies
  2. Hello folks, Is it normal to lose weight and then gain a little weight back to "level off"? I started at 265, went down to 185, and now weigh 196 (gained 11 pounds in 3 months ). Is this supposed to be expected?
  3. Hi Vandamryn, I've been getting steroid shots once per month in the area where my facial hair loss is. It did grow back, but then fell out again. My physician says there's no explanation for it. Sometimes the hair follicles turn off and don't produce hair. I have a feeling it may have something to do with my surgery (changes in hormones or nutrition) but not really sure.
  4. @Rootman, you may have a point. I should check my testosterone levels. Ever since last few months, I've had a really high libido and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I feel like an animal some times
  5. Thanks peeps. See the thing is, I shave everyday and on occasion I'll have a 5oclock shadow. And regardless of how close I shave, theres still a couple of quarter sized bald spots on there. I'm just hoping it doesn't spread to other parts of my face or the side of my head where i stil have hair (I'm bald on top so it doesn't really matter there)
  6. Hi, I'm only 2 weeks out, and with my doctor's permission, I had salmon tonight. I was only able to eat 4 small bites, and I couldnt eat any more. My question is : am i going to be able to eat more volume or is this basically going to stay the same forever?
  7. I had my surgery in the states, and personally I'm glad I did. I had to stay 2 extra days in the hospital, and knowing that I was close to home and not in a foreign country during my stay, gave me a relaxed mindset. Sometimes it may be worth the extra expense of going local. You can get to meet with your surgeon on a regular basis - and I just dont know how others can go to another doctor that didn't do their surgery for followups.
  8. As soon as I see the pizza commercials, I flip the channel. Out of sight, out of mind !
  9. For the sleevers that are now on regular foods ......How do you know when you're full? What does it feel like and where exactly do you feel it?
  10. I'm on my third day post-op, and I'm having these issues : 1- I feel a very sharp pain on my left side about 1 minute after I swallow a sip of Water. Did anyone else have this issue? 2- I don't have a fever, but my skin on my face is red and warm to the touch Any insights is always appreciated. Thank you
  11. Thanks guys. My doctor just had a swallow test done for me this morning, and I'm waiting to hear back the results. The technician said he doesn't see a leak, but the upper part of my stomach shows that it's a bit too narrow. Possibly inflamed from the surgery, but I'm waiting to hear back from my surgeon.

    Hiccups

Thank you Brian. I'm on the middle of my secnod day, and so far I'm doing better than expected. I've been walking around the hospital lobby several times today. Today wa also the first day of my clear liquid diet. It's easy to swallow, but I feel a slight stiffness right under my breast bone, near my heart. I'm assuming it'll get easier to eat solids?

  14. Hey friends, I have a love affair with food. And I'm having the sleeve done on 6/1/2011. Am I going to feel miserable if I do this? Any regrets?
  15. food has always brought me pleasure and excitement. I love to eat. Eating always gave me something to do. I never got bored when it came to food. But now that I'll be having my sleeve tomorrow, I'll need to fill that void where food used to be. What activities have you sleevers found to fill in that void where food used to be? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
  16. Hi Brian, Thank you for your insight. Tomorrow is my surgery, and I've become more comfortable with my decision, thanks to this website. Knowledge is the key, and now that I have your insight as well as many others here, I'm prepped and ready for this. I love food, but during my time spent on my pre-op diet, I am learning to appreciate other things around me - besides food. Thank you - bert
  17. Mine is after tomorrow. Best of luck to you !
  18. I'm very excited about doing my sleeve. I will be officially sleeved by mid-day, June 1st. It's been a long time coming. I'm looking forward to a new chapter in my life and being around for my wife and kids. Woot ! Woot ! Check out this video on YouTube:

  20. Hi friends, I'm having my sleeve done on June 1, and I'm going on my third day of the pre-op diet. I'm just curious if a doctor is asking me to go on a low carb pre-op diet, how come I can't have a piece of chicken or steak (low carb too). Why only liquids? I'm starving. Does this get any better? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you
  21. Thanks guys, I feel much better after reading the responses. This forum and the people in it are wonderful. I'm so glad to have found this. And also making new friends here !
  22. Thank you Disney, that makes me feel much better. I'm so looking forward to the surgery. It's been such a long struggle. My weight has kept me from attending celebrations, and making new friends. Thank you again.
  23. Hi everyone. I'm so glad to find this web site. I'm going into sleeve surgery on 6/1/2011, and I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have a few questions that I'd love for you guys that have done the sleeve to answer for me please. 1- I don't want to look back and have any regrets for doing this surgery. Do you have any regrets, and what are they? 2- Can I eventually have a piece of bread after I have healed completely? How about rice? Thank you in advance for any tips.
  24. Gosh, you guys are wonderful. Thank you so much for the insight. I feel less apprehensive now that I have the opinions of others who have gone through it. Thank you
