    "Devine Intervention"!

God works in mysterious ways! Glad you stayed on track...you should be proud of everything you accomplished.
  2. The more you describe, the more it sounds like maybe she isn't what I would term a "best friend". You need to surround yourself with people who are supportive and make you happy. Sometimes that means cutting out people in your life who bring you down. Friendship shouldn't be one-sided. The most important thing is that you have taken a step in the right direction to improve yourself. I congratulate you for that. Everyone on this site is great and we all support each other. I wish you success, happiness and good health. I hope things work out the way you want them to. If not, I know you will have the strength to move on because you have already shown that you are a very strong person! Have a great day!
  3. I'll be honest, if I was your best friend I would be hurt. I am sure the main reason she is upset is that she feels that you didn't trust her enough to be supportive or to share a very major event of your life with her. You might think she may not have been supportive, but you never even gave her a chance. She may have had an opinion about the surgery, but it was you that allowed yourself to be influenced by her opinion. I had a best friend that did something very similar (she withheld a significant event) and I was crushed and deeply hurt. Granted, everyone is entitled to their own life and can do what they want, but when you share everything with a best friend and then all of a sudden dont, it can be very hurtful. Truthfully, our friendship went downhill from that moment and never recovered. So maybe I am a bit biased...I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses who feel it was your right not to tell.
  4. Congratulations on all your hard work!
  5. Wow, no one ever mentioned this to me. Maybe I should get something.

The cardboard box ones are nice because they have a little cap that you can open and close.

    Weighing Yourself

I weight myself every 3 or 4 days. But like you...in the early stages right after surgery there were losses and then some gains. The first 6 weeks are really for healing and small ups and downs are expected. Just be patient (easier said than done) the whole process of healing and losing takes time! Congrats on your weight loss so far!
  8. I had the exact same issue. About 4 weeks after surgery I couldn't lose a pound. I lost nothing for 3 weeks. I was sooooo frustrated. I was only eating about 800 calories a day. Your food list is identical to what I was eating...low fat and carb and high Protein. I figured that since I weighed 380, eating like that and exercising I should be losing 5 pounds a week!! I was so upset. My nutritionist upped my calories as well. As soon as I did, I dropped weight immediately and have been consistently dropping weight ever since. I eat about 1200 calories a day and try to focus on protein and lower carb choices. But now that I can eat any food, the carbs usually hover around 120-150 a day, especially if I eat fruit. In order to add a few more calories you could eat some full fat cheese. Just and ounce or 2 will make up those calories, plus it has great protein and no carbs! I know you can't have nuts yet, but I have 1 ounce of almonds a day which I very much enjoy. You could also add some olive oil, butter, mayo to stuff. You still need to get in some fats. My nutritionist wants us to have 3 servings a day. Good Luck! Congrats on your weight loss thus far!

How many calories do i need per day?

I do about 1200 a day...I try to get about 80 grams or more of protein a day. I try to stay under 100 grams of carbs but its not always possible, especially if I eat fruit.

    Pre-Op Diet

Good Luck! If you are doing Protein Shakes, make sure you find one that you like. I didnt do that I and I really regret it. Evenings were really, really tough for me. I wasnt really hungry, but I wanted food badly. I reminded myself that the pre-op diet was to shrink my liver and just kept telling myself if I messed up they wouldnt do my surgery. It helped keep me on track. Also, I did a lot of crying, yelling and being bitchy because I was missing my food. Luckily people around me really were supportive and understood what I was going through. You can do it!

    Acne

Wow...I am glad you posted this and the article too. I totally have this issue. Like the original poster, I rarely get acne. This does make sense! Glad I'm not alone!
  12. I work at a hospital and insurance contract issues happen all the time. Most get resolved without any issues or problems in coverage. Both the hospital and insurance company use the media to their advantage in the contract negotiations. You most likely wont have any issues unless communication completely breaks down. Good Luck!

    May 2011 Bandsters

Congrats to everyone on their success! I was banded May 23, 2011 and I've lost 44 pounds. I had 3 weeks where I didn't lose anything and had to up my calories to get the scale moving. I have not had any fills. I have a long way to go, but my clothes are definitely looser and I'm feeling better. I've been exercising 3-4 times a week and drinking 10-12 glasses of Water a day. I weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping for another bit of a loss...though TOM is supposed to start this weekend so you never know!
  14. Sounds like low potassium to me...but I'm not a doctor. Do you have a chewable multivitamin you can take?

    Flying Tomorrow....

(((Hugs))) I am always the biggest person on the plane. I actually stopped flying all together because it caused me so much stress and I cant afford to buy 2 seats. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I will keep you in my thoughts and say an extra prayer so that you have a safe and friendly flight. I hope you dont have to squish!
  16. Hi...I am so sorry for the crazies on your post today. Hang in there and take care.

    NSF

I never comment on someone I think might be pregnant until I see the baby crowning! But in all seriousness you are doing great! I've been there plenty of times and some days I can do ok and other I fall apart and cry. (((Hugs))) Old people and kids have no filter. I work at a Children's Hospital and I get kids who say "Mommy why is she so fat?" all the time. Usually the parents are appalled, but some dont even react. If appropriate, I get down to their level with a big smile and a friendly voice and tell the kids that people come in all shapes and sizes and that everyone is special in their own way. Then I move on.

    Relationship Confusion

Rebecca, So sorry you are going through this. Here is my advice for what its worth. 1) Based on the little you have said, he seems like he is clinically depressed and most likely needs medication. If he is already on anti-depressants then he needs to up the dose or switch medication. It is not an exact science, I've been on 7 different meds to find the perfect combination that works for me. 2) Communication is the key. What does he want? Does he want a divorce? Does he want to see other people? Are there things in your relationship that need to be fixed? Does he want to work on improving his own mind and your relationship? Does he just want to bury his head in the sand and hope everything magically gets better? If he says "I dont know"...that is not an acceptable answer. What do you want? What are your needs in the relationship? 3) I would definitely encourage couple's counseling as well as individual counseling for both of you. I know this may be a hard sell given his recent distaste for therapy, but if you are going to make this work, it is vital. 4) OK...here is a little tough love and I'm giving you the advice I would give my best friend. You must take control of the relationship. I know you are hurt and confused about what is going on. But you cannot be sitting around waiting for him. Give him a deadline (Jan 2012) to figure out how he wants to move forward. In that time frame you can also figure out what you want. You cannot just take him back when he decides he' done playing single guy. If you want to make it work and he does too...you have to develop a plan together that takes into account what you both need. He doesnt move back until he is ready to commit to hard work and fixing the relationship. In my opinion, he needs to prove to you that he is worthy of your love, care and affection...not the other way around. If he still cant figure out a plan then its time to move on. Good luck...if you need a friend to talk to I'll be happy to listen.
  21. My stomach makes noises...I figure that is normal. I think its just the digestion going on. With regard to the burping after drinking...you may just inadvertently swallowing a bit of air while you drink and that may cause you to burp. I know I burped a lot right after surgery, but not so much now. I think that your chest feeling tight is what "full" feels like. I dont feel it very often as I have no restriction and have not had a fill. I'm still pretty new (7 weeks since surgery) so others may have better info!

    Onederland in sight!

Awesome! Congrats on all your hard work!
  23. Good Luck!!! I am happy you get to eat. I had to do 2 weeks of protein shakes only and it sucked!
  24. So are you still going to have the surgery? If you feel fine and dont have any other issues like fever or feeling tired or any symptoms of being sick, there is no reason why they shouldnt go ahead with the surgery. Increased White blood cell count can be caused severe emotional or physical stress...I know my 2 week pre-op liquid diet caused both of those! A lady who had surgery my same day had a massive cold with laryngitis and the works 4 days before surgery and she still had it. I would not get down. Like you said you feel fine. Just be sure to make your surgeon understand how great you feel. Good Luck!
