    Gallbladder

Just had mine out last week, had stones . When you lose a lot of wt rapidly it can irritate the gallbladder. 10.5 months out and 90 pounds down.

    Almost 1 year out?!

Wow! Your doing fantastic! I can't believe how time has flown this year! My 2 week pre surgical diet weight was 242 December 6, 2016 Surgery was December 20, 2016... my current weight is 152. Which makes me 90 pounds down, with a BMI OF 27. My goal is currently 135, which allows me to reach a healthy BMI of 24. When I get there, I will reevaluate. Doing well weight loss is slow going now, but I feel good, I look good, so I don't obsess. I'm enjoying my new weight and enjoy shopping. I still weigh myself daily, and keep an eye on everything I eat, but I have been known to taste test a thing here or there, but do not consume the foods that are not allowed. I'm look forward to loosing the last 17 pounds before my 1 year anniversary. All in all, regardless of all the hiccups, such as the hematoma that I developed in the recovery room, the reflux, that requires that I take daily medicine to control and now the gallbladder removal that I will undergo in 2 days.... the sleeve is still the best thing I ever have done for myself. It has allowed me the opportunity to gain control over my food, and has allowed me to be a healthier person.

    Genepro. Stay away

My Nut recommended genepro, I couldn't tolerate any of the other protein powders, or premade shakes . Every sip was a struggle. She recommended this powder and it made a huge difference for me. It gave me the little boost to my regular food intake. It didn't have the horrible after taste the others did. Now that I am 3 months post op, she expects me to get my protein thru food, when I can't meet 65 -85 grams p/day, I throw a scoop in a shake. I'm 3 months post op down 55 pounds. Wish everyone much success. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach gurgling?!

I'm a little over 6 weeks post op, and had those the whole first month or so. They seem to have subsided. The only thing I'm still experiencing is the sort of audible gurgling sound in my throat when I lie down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hello all! I had a band to sleeve revision on 12/20. I'm advanced to soft foods. I am currently down 34 pounds. My concern is that I can't have more than a few small bites of food. The nutritionist says I should have 2-3 oz of Protein in each meal and 2 oz of vegetables. Yeah right! I can maybe have about an oz. of protein and I'm done. I can eat things like Greek yogurt and pudding with no problem. I remember my surgeon telling me on more than one occasion that he gave me a very small conservative sleeve. He said I should be get a lot of restriction. no kidding! Has any one had a similar experience? Does it get better? As of now, I truly not getting enough calories or protein. Thanks. only a few bites, norm?

Sounds like you and I are in same boat. Lately, I even lost the desire to drink. I have noticed the colder the beverage, the easier to get down. I'm nowhere close to 64oz of liquid, yesterday, I pushed myself to have 4 cups of water. It's weird, I was doing so much better immediately post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm about 40 days post sleeve, and don't have desire to drink water/liquids. It feels like a chore to drink and it doesn't feel like the easiest thing to do, meaning it's doesn't go down smooth, or maybe it just isn't quite comfortable. I don't have much of an appetite (thank goodness!) but I know liquids are very important and I just can't seem to get the daily quota down. Anyone else have similar situation? 11. This may be premature of me to ask, as I am only 42 days post op sleeve. 40 pounds down, yay! I am on soft food now, only able to take a few bites, and then I feel miserable. Not miserable because I really want more, but miserable because I'm uncomfortable. It doesn't feel like a "naturally" full feeling at all, but more like discomfort deep in my esophagus, which automatically causes me to stop eating. My question is, will that change and will I eventually feel stomach full again or will it remain a discomfort or pressure sort of sensation in my deep in my esophagus for lack of a better description? I worry about going out to dinner with others, it saddens me a little that I may never enjoy going out for a meal with my husband, because two minutes into a meal, I am so distracted by this miserable sensation. Feeling a little sad. Thoughts...? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Thanks again, I will will eventually feel that normal full feeling, in the months ahead??
  13. Thank you, thank you!! I was feeling a little down. I wonder if others go through this at this point in the journey. I guess, I'm also a little nervous as I have dinner plans next weekend with some couples and am nervous about it. No one at the dinner knows. I have shared with some people, but not all. Thank you for the reassuring reply, you did make me feel better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    only a few bites, norm?

Thank you Jamie! I think the other reason I'm not hitting my Protein mark is that I am becoming less enamored with the protein shakes . I was drinking lean shakes from GNC, but I found myself taking longer and longer to get it down because I don't enjoy it. Spend the entire day sipping one bottle. So now I have found a flavorless Protein powder, but I'm lacking the creativity in my diet. Any suggestions for protein smoothies? What were some of your fav make your own shakes? Thank you for all the very valuable ideas. Right now, the idea of having a string cheese sounds amazing. I'm am going out to store in a few to get some. I have had Shelly's Ricotta bake several times, I can eat about 2-3 oz of that. It varies. I have just stop eating the same things, because I get sick of it. Thanks for letting me know that I am within the norm for being just 36 days post op. Congratulations on your journey and being such an example for all. 20. I actually was sleeved on 12/20. I was in the recovery room when I realized that my left side was hard and swelled up like a grape fruit. Turns out that I developed a hematoma. They reopened me right there and cleaned it all out and packed me. They kept me in recovery all night for observation and then sent me to a room where I stayed an extra night. I now have this wide deep open wound in my abdomen that needs to be packed daily. And will likely take over a month or more to heel. Really sucks. But as far as the sleeve, I'm tolerating liquids fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Air bubbles after eating

Thanks guys... it actually feels like I'm a diver and I'm making the air bubbles that rise to the surface. That's exactly how it feels! Lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Good morning, I was sleeved 7 days ago. I am on full liquids and tolerating without a problem, however I do get air bubbles in my left side after I eat. They are painless, just a little annoying. I'm still on full liquids. Anyone else experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Two Week Countdown - Husband Freaking Out

Hi All, I'm getting sleeved 12/20. 5 days of liquids so far and the pounds are coming off! The liquid diet is the pits, but hanging in. Don't want any complications with a fatty liver. The holidays will certainly be different this year, but like every thing else it's a moment in time and we will all have better days ahead. We need to focus on the long term goal, the prize.. a healthier life. I wish everyone a safe and speedy recovery.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
