What's the worst thing someone said to you?
lizrbit replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Going Down, has he ever said anything before? How long have you been together? is it like he has never seen it before? was he referring to the incisions or him being uncomfortable with the scars being fresh? Im trying to see it in the best possible light...but to be honest its a pet peeve with me when they know what they are getting into, and you are making things BETTER even, and NOW its not good enough? oh man oh man...a big part of me says "kick him to the curb" and get a new one for the time being let him see you in six months and THEN let him know, that no...his build just doesnt 'do" anything for you... -
isnt it strange how dr's differ? it was one of the first questions i asked my surgeon because i dig metamucile and take it about once every other week. he said it wouldnt be a problem and it hasnt so far. I take it. i can see how with more restriction id want it much more diluted.

i havent drank a real soda in over two years. i used to drink diet root beer alot, but since being told not to, i havent, and i havent missed it. i didnt give up coffee on purpose, just sorta came along as part of the plan naturally. I do hot tea (pref earl grey) with honey every morning for my eye opener and its groovy. I dont miss either one.

sheila, have you called your dr? Sweetie i definitely would if i were you, something is amiss if you are doing it every day! especially every time you eat. Call your surgeon or nutritionalist today! THIS MINUTE! right now. right this second... yes i mean right now. pick up the phone. simple call. call now. did you call yet? well why not right now.

squale, i wholeheartedly agree. if you pick up protien shakes it will HELP WITH THE HUNGER BIGTIME. slimfast extra protien, adkins advantage, any of them. Isopure rocks but you gotta get those at a GNC. sleep if you have to to get through the worse if it just wont go away. I found butterball chicken broth, when i closed my eyes, sorta tastes like KFC, if you have a great imagination. You will get through this, and once you do it will suprise you how easilly it was in hindsight! get you some protien shakes and it will help seriously! (plus they will be good to have on hand if you need a day or two on them after your banding) GOOD LUCK!!!

TEACHER!!! i have the answer! the answer is...allow yourself to blow it! i hadnt had anything like what i did last night this whole time, and regretfully i know not to even try doughballs of any kind and to stay far away from the steak (for me its just not worth the effort) and i am liquiding today for the sake and forgiveness of my stomach and my band, so i stepped on the scale this afternoon expecting to be heavier and ... i was two lbs lighter! and this was with a week of NO scale moving at all with regular workouts and limited caloric intake! i think the natural order WANTS us to Celebrate sometimes (just not as often as we were)

hey.. i TOTALLY dig fish and my fav is sushi! But my husband HATES all fish and things that come from a sea, lake or pond... and man they are so right patsy, fish is LOW LOW LOW in calories and HIGH HIGH HIGH in protien!!! For simplicity: I keep on hand an ample supply of Gordons fish fillets, frozen..in the freezer. THey are little square fillets and you can use them in place of steak for bbq's, or dress them up when everyone else is having spaggetti with spag sauce on top and parmesian! I love em and try to eat at least two fillets a day, often more. you can get different flavors, types etc...

thanks was! ill try that next time i do this. (which hopefully wont be for a long time) Girl, lemme tell ya, while i was walking, the ONLY thing that felt better was just bending over to where the top half of my body was upside down. i looked like one of those bobble bird thermometors from when we were kids. my dog was totally confused. whew buddy.

oh embrace me my brothers and sisters for i have sinned. Tonight i blew it bigtime and im payin the price...chinese food buffet with grill. oh holy cow. im still miserable. ive walked the length of town and back, then again, and then im hot teaing it, and tums. good lord almighty.
-
ouch..... about once a month my family used to go out to this one really great chinese buffet on sat or sun for the steak and grill part....its really awesome... and tonight we went, first time since banding feb 13. I was very hungry and didnt chew as well as i usually do. I also had Two rolls of fried dough (i know) and i cut them up, at those very tiny and chewed, but then followed with the grilled steak. Yum, but then OUCH. holy cow i was miserable. if i could have thrown up i would have, but i didnt so i walked, and walked and kept walking, when i got home i walked some more, pausing occassionally to bend over and pray for relief. when i got back to the house i drank three cups of hot tea slowly, and popped and chewed about ten 'tums' like antacids. ah. better, finally...but tomorrow im going to liquids for the day just to get my feet under me. holy cow it was good, but totally not worth the pain that followed. holy cow.

Jill! jill, jill, jill.... seriously i thought i was the only person on the planet who loved that song. To me its a perfect "im pissed off and leaving town" song...pearl jam's 'rear view mirror'. woo! nice selection!!!

oh man you hit it on the head. there is no pleasing some people, and it really does show you who your real friends are. i lost around 70 lbs a decade ago, and i worked mostly around men, with just a handful of office women. I was in an art department for a store signage shop. The attitudes of the men completely changed as well as the women. The few women i worked with, MOST of them (with the exception of TWO) became almost crusade like in their attempts to put me down. I heard all kinds of rumors. The men, were worse. I USED to have a jovial relationship with them, got along great and laughed easilly. that changed completely and my own supervisor completely stopped talking to me. in all fairness, it wasnt just the wieghtloss, the drug made me a bit loopy. i lost my job over all of it. it was still worth it. id have done it again in a heartbeat. For the first time in my life i saw a size 5. i didnt keep the wieght off. Within a month of going off the drug, i put on fifteen lbs, and it just balooned out from there. still...for a year i knew what it was like to be thin. i could bend my legs anyway i wanted. I RAN inthe mornings, each morning. (before my ankle went all to hell and i had to have a new one made) This is much healthier than how i got there before (phenphen) and im even more proud of the changes. I work for myself now.

Feb 2007 Bandsters: April Challenge
lizrbit replied to babygrl1234's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
babygirl!!! i gotta chime in here...this is ONE of the reasons i want to put my arms around my surgeon and kiss him full out on the lips. while i was in galveston, the cottage that i stayed at had two wonderful bicycles that came with it. About a week after my surgery, i decided to try it, and...after not having ridden one in 12 years, i did...within that week i had built up to using the bike as transportation, to go to the store, to go to the seawall, to go meet my friends at the club. Within the next week i was using it to ride 8 miles (to the movie theater and Krogers which is 4.8 miles from the cottage)...DAILY. eight miles a day!!! for me, that was an enormous milestone. by the time i left the cottage (i was there for three months) it was NOTHING for me to wake up just before sunrise and be on the seawall on my 8mile treck as the sun came up every morning. It was fantastic. i miss it greatly. i just wanted to tell you that your goal is totally possible. Try 'on the way' first and work up to it and it will FEEL effortless. Good luck and know as your peddling that i wish i was too! (its mudseason here in northern maine and SOON ill be out on the trails here too) -

i had been doing GREAT till i got home from texas. Banded 2/13. ive lost quite a bit but im worried that now im back in a cold climate ill burrow in with something decadant and warm and not come out till June. I have another fill coming april 27! im looking forward to it. My appetite in the last few days has REALLY picked up. im working out during the mornings but seriously its too cold to do anything once i leave there. i usually go home, make lunch, spend a few hours on here, take a nap, then hang out wiht the boys till dinner. then crash on the couch before going to bed! egads.

man yall can fling some poo. just watchin it gets my heart rate up. someone calling someone hitler and stalin and what not? Fling that Poo! how do we feel about abortion?
-
also might add prenatal vitamins too. Ive read folic acid has something to do with it. i could be fulla poo but its worth a shot. A handful of years ago when i was on phenphen (ooo) i lost about seventy lbs and a bunch of hair too. I started the prenatals and it came back. also started using infusium shampoo conditioners, it helps bring moisture back. If that doesnt work, try sebastians potion number 9. just a dab of goo will do after you get out of the shower.

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
lizrbit replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i had it PREOP..way before preop, really bad especially at night. Since banding, i havent had one single episode. I do however, gurgle sometimes and some nitwit at a meeting said THAT was acid reflux...like i didnt know what reflux was...but this gurgling isnt unpleasant or produce acid in anyway, and actually feels like a relief. it comes after i eat softsolids like poached eggs, oatmeal or uncondensed Soup. sounds like babyfood sliding down a pvc pipe. lol was that tmi? -
i dunno if youd wanna do that because of your incision scars? uv rays are really bad for them. might wanna wait till they receed a bit before hitting the shake n bake.

Oh My God...Are You Kidding Me?!?!
lizrbit replied to Rockn4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH my GOD...syrah! I use flinstones complete chewables. I spent two hours this morning going over the backs of vitamins available in town (okay im SLIGHTLY ocd) and they had the highest count of the chewables and liquids available otc. I ran out of my regulars. i think its the folic acid in the prenates thats so coveted. -
hi from the crazy pool... i live in the most northern tip of Maine, and had my surgery in Houston because i dug the dr's stats and reputation, plus i love galveston and REALLY enjoy flying back down. I trust my surgeon completely and i wouldnt want anyone else doing my fills, but i realize im in the minority on this one. I am also very lucky and my insurance paid for my surgery, and since i buy my airline tickets in as far as advance as possible i usually can get to houston what it takes most people to get to portland. so...no complaints here! anyway...just thought youd like to know that if you decide to just bust out and go somewhere non local, i was in that boat too. :::waving::::
