freaky sex in really strange positions.....

Jesces, i totally agree with enterprise here. I JUST went in for my third fill today, only to discover ive got a big leak. my surgeon put in ten ccs in my four cc band and i could STILL drink a cup of water no problem, he tried pulling fluid out and couldnt even get out a full cc. I go in tomorrow for a flourascope fill with omnipaque to see WHERE the leak is, and surgery scheduled immediately after IF ITS NEEDED, which they think is definite AFTER the tests. I wouldnt let a PA decide it girl. Can you see your surgeon who performed the operation? if not, i would go to another lap band surgeon and get a second opinion.

wally, well it looks like im staying a few days longer than i thought i would. When i told my surgeon about eating a 12 oz steak and veggies no problem, he said, "you shouldnt be able to hold that much food" and decided to do a full restriction and back off from there. What he does is add ccs at a time while im still "loaded" with the syringe, adds a little and has me drink a cup of water. I drink and he adds until im completely restricted, then he would take out enough to leave me a comfortable opening. I have a 4cc band (ten cm) and he put in six ccs saline, water went down in gulps no problem, he added another four cc's omipaque, water went down no problem. I never closed up, or even close to closing up.When he tried to pull it back out, he could ONLY get out about half a cc. I have a leak, a pretty fast leak at that. Im so glad i came in. I go tomorrow am for a flouroscope fill and barium swollow and they will be able to tell exactly where the leak is..but you guessed it..i gotta go back under the knife. The good news is that he will do it tomorrow afternoon. the bad news is that i only have a place to stay and a car until saturday. ill work it out. Just wanted to share this. Mine said it shouldnt feel like you are dieting all the time. Yes he said you gotta work it, but it shouldnt be ALL JUST YOU working. The band should help you eat less..significantly less. We will see what happens tomorrow.

i am losing and regaining the same eight lbs. I think alot of it comes from my new TOM cycles. (every two weeks now) but i am losing, just very very slowly. When i was here last time to get a fill (im in houston now) i was at 291 and before i left home i was 283. I feel swollen and im a little nervous about what the scale will say this time but im excited too. Its my third fill (i go for my appt in about two hours) and Im very hopeful. My surgeon says that around the third fill or around the three cc mark in a four cc band, most of his patients experience their "sweet spot" but monitor it because as they lose weight the may need small adjustments to keep the same restriction. I DO think it changes over time too...because i DO feel more restriction in the last week than i have in the last month. So... here i go! third filldom and hopefully some significant weight loss from here till next month. woo! Im staying in Galveston. I gotta tell you this...I rented an economy car from the airport (reservation with enterprise) and since i arrived so late, all their econs were out, so i had to make due with a new caddy! im cruising around town in lavish luxury, all leather and mahogony interior..wow! :biggrin1:

well ive tried to direct it back to the topic, as others have, and yet it continues to digress and stay in that direction. so...can anyone recommend a thread to discuss fills and restriction confusion and issues related to that? or even...can you guys take your topic and create a new thread for that topic maybe?
-
congratulations!!! thats Great news and a real success and NSV!!! i know thats gotta be a relief!
-
so is there a thread where we can talk about fills and restriction issues? I thought thats what this was..i must have been mistaken? for what its worth, the surgeon i chose is across the nation from where i live, i got an out of network referral. hes done over 4k bands, and my insurance ( bcbs) covered it completely. Now..is there someplace we can talk about fills and restriction?
-
Syrah, Ive got a 10cm (4cc) band. Currently ive got 2.5cc in it already!
-
what was the original question and discussion? I go back in for third fill in Houston tomorrow (i leave here tomorrow, my appt is the 23rd) and ive wondered about proper restriction myself, as i guess most of us have. Im not sure what it means. I do occassionally get stuck. and i definitely cant eat too much dim sum, but i can eat a 12 oz steak (yum) and some baked potato. i often eat around two cups at a sitting. i know its a lot. Its less if i start the day with a shake. I make protien shakes in the mornings that really help. still though, i think its a lot. my nutritionalist says i shouldnt be able to eat a 12 oz steak. can anyone else? how can you tell your restricted right?

:::insert big tooth filled grin here:::: i do think its very wise to take posts on this board with a grain of salt, and not believe everyone who claims to be in the medical profession as really that. There is one particular on this board who does bully people about AND as a medical "professional" certainly doesnt behave in coherance with ethical medical practices (like chain smoking and going to fill parties, where you literally fill each other.) I think its dangerous practice altogether and they DO make contradictory statements on different boards. If you are new and read a post that sounds iffy, look at their stats. If someone posts an average of 30 posts per day on here, what else do they have time for all day? no doctor or nurse i know has that kind of time. Just be careful whos advice you take. Best wishes

Since being banded... Im ..."fertile"..twice a month now, with all that implies...but even more bizzaar (because im usually a very funny, upbeat person my friends would describe me as happy and gets along with everyone) is that IM NOT THAT NOW. I go from one minute all "oh i love my northern new england town and singing 'life in a northern town' " while walking to "oh my god its fecking cold and i fecking hate everythign about this." and little things which never USED to get to me, get to me BIGTIME. I lost my fecking ipod this morning that i usually take to the gym..and i blew a gasket! Im hold up right now privately so i can get my mood in check before going back to the house and searching for it again where i will be around other people. This morning i was near throwing things because i was out of vanilla slim fast. lol. Now that i read it , its funny ...but at the time it sure wasnt. ANYONE ELSE GOING THROUGH THIS???
-
man...its makin me crazy. im cool and all..its just very different. I really need to go see gyn and get on something to at least try to balance it out. My teeth feel longer and im a bit "hungry" all...and i do mean ALL the time. i keep checking to see if im growing hair on the back of my neck.

North Houston Bandsters (Support Group)
lizrbit replied to Melissa Lea's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Guys.. Im going to be in Houston again very soon for a fill, but afraid i will miss the group meeting with the New Group over at Journeylite. I will be in town May 23, 24, 25 if anyone wants to meet for dinner and a mini support? -
hey annie, congrats on the nsv! and thank god im not the only one going through this. I JUST turned 39 and thought i was going through "the change" early too. You know though it DOES make sense to get on the pill to try to control it. Libra, thanks for that idea, ill probably go in and see what i can do. maybe because of the extra estrogen the pill you were taking isnt strong enough anymore? Im definitely going to go in and find out if i can get on them. we only have so many eggs. when they go, they go...and rapid fire shooting isnt doin me any good.

hi guys! banded feb 13. very slow loser too. I even went through a phase of gaining back wieght, then losing, then slowly regaining, then losing...My dr says im not filled enough yet. I was scheduled for my third fill to be June 6th, but im wide open again, and can eat things like a 12 oz steak and not feel any restriction. when i go back on liquids, i feel restriction, but my nutritionalist doesnt want me on liquids for too long at a time, and doesnt like that im establishing it as a habit...so i moved my appointment up at her suggestion and im leaving maine to go to houston in about eight days (appointment may 23) for fill number 3! im HOPEFUL. My second fill worked great for a few days, then i slowly got more open. My doctor says there is a sweet spot, and im hoping to hit it this time...

I smoked for 23 years. for the last 19 of those i was at three packs a day. I smoked at work, i smoked at home. My sons are very close to me, and like other smokers, i thought i had "rights". In dec of 2004, my then 15 year old son suffered a stroke. He was in good health and had no other risk factors. He lost use of everything below the T3 area. To this day he is still in physical rehab, and goes periodicly for phenal blocks in various muscle groups to try to get things responding. He cannot walk without a full leg brace on his left leg. His control of his bladder and bowels, as well as the use of any reproductive organs is gone. He had not yet gone through puberty when this happened. he uses a straight catheter to urinate. Im glad hes alive. He is too. This happened in dec 2004. I spent a month with him in the hospital in Bangor. No smokes, i didnt even think about it, i was so into what was happening in front of me with him and wondering what hapened. Each doctor that we talked to verified that he had NO other risk factors other than second hand smoke.. Then they flew him out to a hospital that specializes in spinal cord damage and recoverey (craig in inglewood colorado) and i went home to be with my other sons. It came back fiercely. I quit everyday until Feb 2005 (two months later) before I was able to finally walk away from the last one. I put it out midway. I quit everyday. i would fail at different times of the day, very expensively too, because i would throw away all packs then go buy another, throw it away, then the next day buy another. The losenges were the biggest help for me. I went through two vials of those a day for the first SIX months as well as patches (yeah i know your not supposed to, but i was doing anything i needed to do to not go get that new pack of smokes). First id go a day, then a week, then a week and a half, then a month..then two..then finally a year. then two years. thanks for asking. Its why i cant be nuetral.
-
Yeah, a full breathing, living whatever you once called me..where will you be?
-
If you smoke, you wont be happy in maine anyway. We dont like that kind.
-
yeah but in three MORE years, ill be thin...and the smoker will be...???
-
I appreciate the attempt at posing a nuetral stance, but i just dont see in your last analogies how they are anything close to tobacco smoke. I do think it should be illegal, and i think possession should carry a harsh sentence. I dont CARE if it "makes people seek illegal sources", GOOD. And i hopes its horribly expensive and that smokers get arrested, then should be fined, prosecuted, convicted and stripped of the rest of their rights for putting that crap in the air. Its not an inconvienience. it kills people. You dont like what i have to say about it thats fine, i wouldnt have liked it three years ago either..but all i have to do is go clean out my sons portable urinal again, or move his shower chair out of the way and i get angry all over again. all because of second hand smoke, so no, i dont see ever being nuetral on the stance. I vote, I will always vote, and im vocal about my opinion not only here, but whenever i can be. Vote against me...and keep smoking..there will be less and less of you to do so.
-
vapors...i was told something very similar by my dr, that the band will sometimes absorb some of your fill.
-
stinky smelly smokey people.
