    Surgery may 2nd

Hi good for you !! I’m just getting blood work etc so mine will be after last dietitian appt June 20. So maybe July. I did a lap band 10 yrs ago and the protein drinks were sold at my Drs. I’m not sure what’s the new thing and what my new Dr will ask for. Good luck you can do this!

    Post Op Stomach Injections

I never heard of that either. Is this stat for all gastric sleeve surgeries?? I had lap band in and recently out and gall bladder removed. Always used the blowup leg compression socks at hospital but nothing when I go home. Hmm
  3. Going to ask because just learned about this thing regarding hormones. My g daughter has terrible continuous vomiting with her period. I ask because I know the surgeries do mess with different hormones. If they don’t come up with anything check your gyn dr. Just a thought.

    BCBS Federal

I did my lap band via Fepblue and took the normal 3 month plus about a month for all to be approved from them. That was in 2011. Now I’m under Medicare first n Fepblue as secondary. They said once meet the Medicare requirement, they follow the copays etc. The removal of the surgery was pretty quick. Hope you got through ok.
  8. Mine slipped and had to have it removed in April 2021. Saw surgeon today, the Vertical Sleeve it is. Looks like surgery will be July at the soonest I hope the band has not corroded .

    Regrets...anyone?

It makes sense. I know absorption and breaking down stuff it’s not as simple as they make it out to be. I know I don’t break down meds. I am glad I’m only on thyroid meds and famotidine for acid, don’t how how I’d handle other meds after surgery.

Thanks for your reply Butterfly333, the 7th. is my first appointment. The primary concern is my Gastroparisis. I am anxious, as another weight loss surgery was the last thing I was expecting. Yea I’m trying to navigate the site, I like the old one too. Well let’s see what this week brings. Take care

    Regrets...anyone?

Hi don’t know if do friends thing in here , it’s been years since got on, but seems we are in the same boat. I was in an O/S assignment and got sick then the all night acid vomiting started. Because of Covid, I was stuck there until late oct ,20 . Had lap band removed last April and now IBS n all sorts of problem ensued and now my stomach does not empty. Sugar is wack, plus gaining weight fast. How is the 2nd process going.? I know the lap band took 4 months to get it finally done . Good luck!

    Regrets...anyone?

I opted for the LapBand 12 yrs ago, had many rough days, and only lost weight the first year. I regret that surgery because I ended up constantly sick and suffered over a year because of the pandemic. They removed it last year and I'm having all types of digestive problems - GI said I have Gastroparesis which they think the Gastric Sleeve is the best course of action. See the surgeon next week. They took me off vegetables and salads. I hope I can eat those again after my healing wait period. now I'm gaining weight like crazy and sugar levels are out of whack. I qualify for the WL surgery just from my BMI and comorbidities. I hope not creating a worse problem.
  15. I used to be on here back in 2012, I had the Lap Band done, but last year had to have it removed. Not sure if it was Covid or all the issues I had before and after surgery this past year but I have now ended with Gastroparesis. Or slow/ delayed emptying. My Gastro is sending me to weight loss surgery as I think he said the Bypass seems to help the problem. I fit the bill for weight loss surgery with out this issue, BMI, diabetes etc. . My question involves digestion. Does anyone know how it affects the bowels ? I don’t want to live in the bathroom . Did that almost a year Now try to eat soft foods that will digest quickly and hopefully not cause staying in the John. It seems if you only eat a cupful - it would move in a few minutes if you are missing part of your intestines. I’m not sure, I would appreciate any information on this. Thanks
  16. Great news. I hope I can get my life back. Well now to wait for my first appointment with the surgeon.
  17. Well the removal was not rushed either. I was sick, but not dying. So I guess the gastroparisis is not a life or death situation either. Unless I get a fur ball. But I’m watching it. April be a year! Sigh. Thanks.
  18. Good to know. I am waiting on the Dr appt. My GI needs to send him his notes etc. But I read a lot about dumping syndrome and not able to eat carbs or get Sick. I want to make sure I’m going to improve n not keep suffering with digestive issues.
  19. Thanks. It’s been a roller coaster with my digestive system for 2 1/2 years. Covid delayed care. I wonder f will still have to wait 6 mo before surgery too.
  20. Thanks. I’m pretty normal finally, but not sure how surgery would affect me.
  21. I had to remove the band after 10 yrs. I did lose over 50 lbs but only when stayed on the diet and lived at the gym. Moving stopped the contact with my surgeon and slowly it all came back. It was removed after a year of throwing up every night several times a night. It had slipped after a bad stomach bug. Pandemic slowed the actual surgery until this April. Had a huge hernia as well. Now have IBS and hope to get that under control and hope it’s just shock from the surgery n no gall bladder. I’ve lost 25 lbs which is good, but when will I be free of my stomach issues. Not sure if it’s the IBS or not, but my appetite has changed, and can go with out meals easily. Going to a digestive center the 24th. I do not think it worked for me because of my lifestyle of stress n not exercising.

    Cold Weather

I beg to differ, I get very cold prob due to thyroid and i get stiff and I bend over and my muscles crouch in if I can explain how I get when I am cold and it affects my ability to eat. I will take a nice hot shower and get warm then i can eat better, and i am in FLA! but they like to run air in cold weather in my office, I am having very hard time on cold days so decided to just bring soups... nothing else going down if I am cold.
