Grider replied to lovesherlapband's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I am desperatly trying to get a gym buddy, the one i go to seem pretty friendly compared to any I ever went,,, so i'll keep trying. defentely helps to meet up with someone... I think it makes a difference, I belive we have a totally different mindset. Yest- I went to get my haircut as i keep it very short for the pool etc and the gal who usually does my hair and knows bout my band just ignored me and finally the dude came over and said "well no-one is taking anyone so come with me" and another older lady said HI there but she ignored me- (I see she's put on some weight)... anyhow-- i think banders have a different understanding than those who are NOT. I think that's why all the support group stuff,,, so thanks for helping me in the MFP -
you must take pictures of self to see the difference, my thing is clothes, I see how my old clothes droop on me, and I am only 28 lbs out (but also 4-10)... My belly still big- so maybe you are only concentrating on one area of your body?I think also the inside is been broken down but the skin and make up of body still the same. My arms still big, but now flabby,, still look big, just no fat in them. so I still look the same..need to sculpure my body with exercise.

Grider replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hanging around the thrift stores, we got some real good ones - many things still have tags on them.. I am changing too fast to spend that much money. what I got 6 weeks ago just took back to the thrift store. in fact today i took 3 large black bags full of clothes. Found some brand new skinny jeans for 3.99 yipeee- they fit! this has got to be the best motivator! -

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Grider replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I liked your post about the info about the delay... I was wondering about that,,, the Dr did NOT give me a 2nd fill and I was feeling more tightening recently than in the beginning and thought there was some food stuck in there,, great post, and also how the band in it's location of the stomach- sends the brain messages it is full! -

Grider replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you had to have gall bladder removed, hope you are feeling better. BUT you have 9lbs is to go WOWEEE congratulations!! Maybe that's why my surgeon is going slow, and as long as I'm loosing every month, I will get there, I just need for warm weather to come. The blood work came back depleted of vitamin D- they gave me pills, hope this gives me more pep- but I am ready for that SUNSHINE- feel better Dawn- you will make it ! -

Is Chopped Liver Considered A Soft Food?
Grider replied to Jenn1214's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
no meats,,, nothing you would NOT give a 3/ 4 mo old baby -
Cosntipation is my culprit, and I go daily,,, but seems with all the protein, it backs up more than I realize,,, some milk of magnesia and water + water and my tummy goes flat again.

Humiliated At Work Today! Omg!!!!!
Grider commented on sexymomma001's blog entry in sexymomma001's Blog
They did the same thing to me-- spread gastric bypass,,, I never said i had anything done except hernia repair which is true, I am loosing slowly, and they see me eating kinda normal, just that I am on a diet of sorts. They actually cornered me, in how much did you lose, when did you have surgery, and I went on about hernia. They over it by now, I was flavor of the month, now some gal quit -she will be the flavor for a while. I really do not care, but you must NEVER feel you need to give anyone any explanations for bettering your health. Never - ever- My ex told me> - what they eat- should not make you s..t.- move on with a clear mind and head UP! Congratulations on your valor to get the band. -
I went to visit # 2 and no fill either- I did lose 4 lbs since last visit and he was happy with that. guess I will have to do more work myself, gym etc. I was correct in saying slow loss is better physically for myself, My bloodwork came with very low VITA "D" I need a Hawaiian vacation!!! I knew I needed to be out more. COME on Spring!

Calling All Experts On Insurance And Billing...did Insurance Overpay And Lapband Doctor Overcharge?
Grider replied to Cyndie B's topic in Insurance & Financing
DEPENDS- I had hernia repair as well- it all was about $26,000. I only have a copay from Hosp, about $1100. as insurance covered both,, but if you did both with a copay of $5k you are doing great! -
WOWEE great way to start!!! hang in there, it does get better.

I grill fish with frozen veggies on side-- I also make salmon croquetes with drained canned salmon, egg, seasoning and the wholewheat baked crakers from wally world, and little bit of olive oil in pan for frying.

The mind thing, is I still have a problem only cooking for ONE. I cooked over 30 yrs for a whole family, 4 men and usually a visitor. I am boxing up all my big pots and pans n sticking them in the closet as its a nice set and dont want to just give away. I hope this will help me in making smaller amounts that later I do not feel I need to eat them, in order not to throw away. I absolutely hate throwing away food, but been doing so more and more. Trying to find that combination of cooking good food but less portion.
