Hello all, so i'm a little over a year post op from my surgery. Started at 273, now at 226..so its going. I've found that right after I get fills, it's hard to eat...but after a month or so...I have no problems...meaning I overeat. Anyone else have this problem? Wondering what that happens. BUT, my main question is,..I had a fill 2 months ago and the band seemed perfect. I was feeling full at the right amounts, could keep food down...all was great. Then over the past week, out of nowhere, I can't keep anything down. I can barely even keep liquid down. I don't feel like there has been any slippage with the band...just seems wieird. Any ideas and has this happened to anyone else? Thanks

I really don't think it has slipped...don't get me wrong...I can keep some down..a little food, little water...its just far less than normal...and this is way after my last fill. -

I had a slow start as well, but 20 lbs over the time you are saying is not what any doctor would call good. I don't want to sound like a rebel, but don't forget that you pay the doctor and at some point you may need to say, "I need a larger fill than what you have been giving me." After my lap band, I felt 0 restriction. After a while, I wanted to see just what I could eat so I went to a buffet and ate like I did before I had the surgery with no problems. Talk about feeling discouraged. I went to my doctor upset...he gave me a fill to 5cc. I was excited...but then again, after a few weeks I felt like I could eat all that I wanted. I went back to my doctor again, they gave me a fill...same thing. I told them the band wasn't working so they said, we'll fill it all the way up then...if you don't feel restriction...something is wrong, maybe band location or slippage, etc. I left...that night I couldn't keep one sip of water down....I went back actually excited as at that point I realized that I just needed to get the band right, but it would work. So...now, I have my band at 11cc's...and that works for me...you may need a lot more fills to get it right.

It's up to you what you tell people, but don't be ashamed of your decision to do something for yourself. What I found after my surgery was that the only people that ever said anything negative were those that had weight problems themselves. Some with weight problems were supportive and actually were motivated and asked me questions, those downys that were negative made comments like, "well, my opinion is that you need to have discipline and the best way to lose weight is just don't eat as much." My response was, "but you are the one wearing my old jeans." Don't worry about who thinks what about your decision, it all works out in the end and you'll be fine.
