    BIG secret... good or bad?

I told only my husband and 2 friends that have had WLS. most of my friends simply think I had a hiatal hernia surgery since the diet for the first 6 weeks is pretty much the same. I did not tell my family because my mother has always been the first to point out every pound I have ever gained or lost. She is also the worst gossip in my family and I did not want to deal with that before surgery. Since my surgery I have sent my mother, sister and brother an email explaining my decision to have surgery and asked for their support. I have not heard back from them so I am guessing they are figuring out what to say to me. HAHA, when they learn I already had the surgery. you will figure out who and when you want to say anything.
  4. I am super excited to be leaving the house in 15 minutes. Surgery is scheduled for 1 pm and I am praying that it will go smoothly. Also thinking of all my August sleevers as we prepare for the next step in our journey. Pre-op liquid diet was not bad. I bought the unflavored Protein and mixed it with apple juice and my raspberry lemonade crystal light, it was exceptionally refreshing with 16 oz of Water and lots of ice. It was nice to have something other than chocolate or vanilla. I'm off,

    =(

Kayla, I just finished day 4 and I am super happy to say I have only one day left. Surgery is MONDAY!!!!! I have made sure that I am doing a few things for myself. Yesterday I scheduled a hair appointment, today it was mani/pedi time. it was nice to be out of the house and not thinking about food. I agree with everyone that has said to find alternative activities. I wish you the best as you struggle.
  6. I totally understand your pain and I can admit that it has not been easy for me either. My husband had the same comment when I told him I had finally made up my mind and set a date. "Can we increase your life insurance policy?" was his first response. he then spent several minutes questioning why I can't do it alone and how this is going to affect US. After several tears mainly on my part I told him that it was my decision, it is my body and all I was asking him for was support. He went on to say that he could not be the support i needed. I went so far as to find a ride from a friend since he was refusing to come to the hospital with me. As the days get closer to surgery he is beginning to show a bit of support. He is still not happy with my decision but it is MINE. I will pray that he will come around. Hopefully things change for me as well once I am safely out of surgery. Good luck !

    Lemonade tasting protein?

I use both the Bariatric Advantage and Dymatize Elite unflavored protein. It has 25 grams of protein per serving and I usually add it to all of my crystal light flavors. My favorite is raspberry lemonade. The best thing about the unflavored is that it mixes easy with chicken broth as well as coffee.

  10. I am one month from completing my original 3 month pre-op requirements only to learn that BCBS has changed their requirements to 6 month minimum. Due to my job that moves my surgery from July to November or December. On top of that there is a new $5000 surgeon copay, new deductible and 20% which will be around $7000. Am I crazy to now consider having the surgery in Mexico for affordability?
  11. i am a teacher so we have BCBS TRS active care. According to others I have spoken to almost every insurance provider will be joining the bariatric surgeon copay next year or shortly after. June 2 is my "last" wt mgt meeting so I will wait to see if I am approved or not. My decision will be made from there. thanks for all the posts and support. chelle
  12. just joined the forum. I am in the process of being approved for possible surgery this summer. I'm in Cypress.
