Recovery Question For Dr. Nick Patients
Sap Soon replied to forever29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 6 weeks out of surgery now, and feeling well now. For the first week, I felt really weak. I had a hard time getting the protein, but week 2 onwards it became a lot better. The incisions started to heal for the better around week 3 for me. The "big" dent disappeared around 4 weeks out for me, and now looks normal. My surgeon was Dr. Nicholson as well. -
2Nd Day Post Op..running Slight Fever
Sap Soon posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, I was sleeved on 4/10. and since last night I have a slight fever of 99. I am able to drink some liquids (about 25-30 oz) From others experience did you have a slight fever a couple days later? Also, the Nurses mentioned that this can be normal as your body is starting to fight the stress from surgery? At what point should I start to worry? Also, the temp has not gone past 99, and it does go down after liquid tylenol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Soon -

Day 2 Post Op, Food
Sap Soon replied to Misstxdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. You will do well. I am in the same boat. Sleeved yesterday. liquids going down slowly. Walking seems to help a lot. Wishing you a speedy recovery and continued success -
Hi everyone Got Sleeved yesterday by Dr. Nicholson at Forest park. I was extremely nervous prior to the procedure. Prior to the surgery starting Dr. Nicholson and team spoke with me and wife. It really did help to calm down some nerves. Procedure started around 11 am. I was wheeled in to the OR and that's all I remember. After that woke up in recovery area - around 1:30am. They give me some good stuff. Immediately after waking I was in some pain. The nurses explained how to use the pain medication via the IV. After a couple pumps 10 mins apart seemed to help. There was no nausea at that point. got to room around 3:00pm. The big thing for me was that the IV fluids were making me pee quite a bit.. Soon after that I tried to walk and was able to about half the lobby area. No real discomfort. The walk seemed to help , but I was extremely tired. Have been able walk about qtr of mile in total so far. The bigger incision still hurts and the gas pains start randomly but not very often. Will add more lAter today as typing on the phone is surely draining my batteries as well as the phones . Good luck to everyone with their surgeries and recovery. We will get through this. Soon

Who's Getting Sleeved This Week ?
Sap Soon replied to krissy20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too..All the best to everyone on their WLS. I am excited and getting more nervous, hoping to make it through this okay. I will try to post if I am able to tomorrow. Prayers for all of us as well. -
I posted this in the pre-sleeve forum, but didn't get any responses. Hoping to get some in this forum. I am having my surgery at Forest Park by Dr. Nicholson in a few days. From what I have seen here most people seem to have done generally well with the surgery by him. I wanted to ask others who have gone through this, what they thought was good, bad, and ugly. How is the the day of the operation typically go? Did you all get the nausea patch pre surgery? Do you see Dr. Nick after the surgery or his PA? Also, how is the follow-up? What is there followup like if you have complications? Also, what type of medications and any other things does one get when they leave the hospital post surgery? Any response is greatly appreciated. Thanks -Soon

Bad Reviews About My Gastric Sleeve Surgeon?
Sap Soon replied to Tenna38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had read only positive reviews about Dr. Nicholson on this site. I am getting my surgery done with him in Feb 2012. I was happy with his demeanor during the one on one consultation, and found the staff to be decent and responsive. Can you send me the link for the negative review)s). Thanks -

Surgeons in the Dallas area
Sap Soon replied to Sap Soon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. I had my first seminar with Dr. Nicholson earlier today (May 17), I have to say it went real well. I am going to be setting a follow up meeting with him. He mentioned that he has done about 7500 surgeries (lap band/gastric bypass/sleeve). I asked him specifically how many sleeves and he mentioned approximately 2000 (which is a good number I think). He has also performed on some high risk patients (with previous heart related diseases/patient waiting on heart transplant). Also, he said that they had 1 major complication (out of 2000) in a sleeve patient. -
Hello Everyone, Looking for suggestions for surgeons in the Dallas area? If possible please provide what you liked/disliked? How was the follow up post surgery? Thank you.

Question for people with lower BMI
Sap Soon replied to Sap Soon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, thank you for your comments and suggestion and positive feedback. iegal - thank you much for your feedback. How hard was it to change the habits? Pre-op were you able to change/control your diet or were the changes mostly post-op? I will make another post with suggestions for the doctors in the Dallas area. Thank you everyone. -
Hello Everyone, My first post here. I have been researching and reading comments here and other sites. I wanted to ask if anyone with a BMI between 30-35 that has had this surgery. I am an Asian male with a BMI of 33 and have been in that range for the last 5 years and can't seem to lose any weight. Have terrible eating habits and now having health issues (high BP/cholesterol). What is the lowest BMI that anyone has had this surgery for? Any recommendations for a surgeon in the Dallas TX region? Thanks, Soon.
