    I need help!

I feel the same way! I've lost 30 and my husband keeps commenting on how much different I look already but I can't see it. Even after buying pants 2 sizes smaller...I can't see it. Dumb brain!
  2. Everyone is different. Everyone heals differently. Every surgeon's plan is different. I've been banded since July 18th (no fill yet) and I've eaten subs, I usually take the top portion of the bread off though. I've dropped 30 pounds and 2 pant sizes. Don't let people that have been banded for 5 days tell you how to feel. When I was 5 days post op I couldn't even finish an 6oz protein shake. I was dehydrated most of the time because I couldn't even get water down. Now that I'm healed I can eat pretty much anything, which I was told is normal but just make sure I eat slowly and don't overeat. After the first fill is when you should feel restriction and start dropping lbs again. You're eating like a normal person now. Good luck!
  3. I had terrible chronic heartburn before my surgery and my surgeon mentioned it was probably a hiatus hernia and it would be fixed with a fundoplication during surgery. After surgery he told my husband I indeed did have a sizable hernia and that he fixed it. A few days ago when I started to incorporate solids I began getting twinges of heartburn. Now I'm sitting here with pretty bad burn and I'm wondering if that is a bad sign. I can't get in to see my doctor for a couple more weeks. I thought fundoplication was supposed to cure heartburn? Has anyone else experienced this?
  4. Hi guys, I was banded on 7/18 and so far I've lost 12 pounds post band. Before that I lost about 15 pounds from the pre-op diet. It seemed that right after surgery I was losing about a pound per day. Ever since I started mushies and now regular food, I haven't been able to move past the 260 mark and it's so frustrating! I just want to see 5 as the middle number but it isn't happening! I eat about 800 calories per day. I exercise about 3 times per week right now. Gradually increasing intensity and frequency. Still doing 1 shake per day because I'm afraid of stretching my pouch. I find that 3 weeks after surgery I have very little restriction and I can eat about 3/4-1cup of food before I am full. I eat 2-3 times per day. Do you think getting a fill will help? I'm not scheduled for one until the 23rd. Any advice would be great.
  5. I am wondering this too! I started mushies today. I can't seem to find a happy medium. I overate/drank twice today and I am in PAIN. Hoping I don't stretch. The problem I'm having is that I'll drink my shakes or eat and then won't feel full until like 30 minutes later....when it's too late and I feel overly full.
  6. Thank you all so much. I feel so much better after getting your advice and support. I'm back on track and following the plan. Still feeling ok and even more motivated now. I appreciate your feedback!
  7. I've the same pain occasionally. I'm only 2 weeks post op though. It feels just like a runners stitch in my left side. I find it's worst when I walk a lot or when I'm gassy/constipated. It's on my list to speak to the Dr. about at my post op appointment. Hopefully someone here has info!
  8. Thank you guys! I am feeling better about it now. I ate very little and made sure I didn't even get close to being full. I feel perfectly fine. No pain or vomiting. I actually feel a little better because I was finally able to get my bowels moving! I only have one more week until I can eat solids (I'm starting mushies today yay). I know I can make it. Thank you so much for the support. I just can't believe I would jeopardize this opportunity. Lesson learned! Thanks again
  9. So i was banded on July 18th and have done extremely well with healing. My lap cuts are healed over perfectly now, I haven't thrown up or felt sick once since surgery, I haven't had any problems. Well...some friends came to visit this weekend and insisted on going out to dinner. I picked a place I knew serves Protein shakes so i ordered one of those and a side dish (no one except my husband knows about the band). I drank about 4 oz of Protein shake and made sure I talked a lot to avoid anyone noticing my lack of eating. The next day they insisted on lunch. Didn't take no for an answer! So we went out and somehow I talked myself into thinking it was ok to eat a kids size tuna sub from Subway. It felt fine. I didn't get a sick or stuck feeling at all. But then I started to feel bad emotionally. Now I can't shake the worried feeling that I permanently messed my band up and that it is going to slip. I keep getting hiccups (which ive had my whole life) and keep thinking I messed up my fundoplication! I have a pit in my stomach from anxiety. Of course I won't make the mistake again and am back to Protein Shakes until the doctor clears me. I have my post op appointment on Tuesday where I will talk to him about what I did. Has anyone else made this mistake and paid the price? Or did it turn out ok? Thanks for any help. There's no one I can talk to until I go in to see the doc and it is really weighing on my mind.

    Primary Care Physicians in LA?

Nevermind! I found one! I don't know how to delete this post so I apologize.
  11. Hi everyone, I was just scheduled for surgery on July 18th! I just moved and need some recommendations for a PCP or general physician in the LA (West LA/Hollywood/Mid-Wilshire) area. I need to get several tests and EKG done - my surgeon suggested finding a PCP. I am trying to do some research but wanted some opinions from bandsters. Thank you in advance!
