Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

@likeadiamond- no pain meds prescribed here. My office doesn't believe in them unless extreme cases. Extra strength Tylenol is all. I feel like I've done a million sit ups.. ugh

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Surgery went well on the 22nd but the pain has been rough. I'm not having trouble with trouble with fluids and started my protein last night. What are others pain levels? Sleeping is rough and getting up & down is uncomfortable. I'm walking lots too. Not sure what my tummy feels.... It's hard to explain- between hungry, queasy, etc.

Had my surgery yesterday... It went smooth. The pain is really bad though... I think gas wise, so I hope to go home Sat or Sun. Having an ultra sound later tonight to be sure it's nothing more. Hope all the others are doing well!!

Care to share your dating profile?

@OKCPirate... He & I have developed a nice friendship & dating routine so far. I'm not getting hopes up for a lifetime commitment etc as I know this surgery will bring so many changes & emotions. But he's so supportive ( he had a close friend go thru it) and right now things work nicely for what we both need I'm blessed with amazing guy friends and all their support. As they constantly tell me they support me but don't see why I'm doing it. Lol

Care to share your dating profile?

I just ended my subscription to match. I did meet a nice guy who is very accepting of my upcoming surgery this week....although we shall see how far we progress once we 'really' start dating and move forward. But...I am optimistic!!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I wanted to share something I find sweet- I've been divorced a bit and have never had trouble w/ dating. But..after ending a long term r-ship last winter I've not dated much at all waiting for this journey to start before putting myself out there so to speak. Well....I met a wonderful man unexpectedly and I'm having surgery next week. So, I briefly stated that I was having 'abdominal' surgery and didn't say much more. He asked about my pre/post op and I shared briefly my eating will come back in stages. After a few dates he went on to say how much he enjoys our time and hopes that we continue even though I will having a surgery. I agreed, but asked for his patience etc. He then, very politely, asked if I was having a gastric surgery. I was a tad stunned....he went on to say his very close friend has recently had it and my pre/post op sounded similar. So..I let it loose and shared my story- I had nothing to loose really. He was incredibly genuine in his understanding and supportive (as he is a very fit man I was nervous). I almost cried. Here is someone I hardly know, who is fit and used to dating 'barbie girls' so to speak and he was accepting of me as I was. He wet on to say my smile, intellect, and personality are what he was drawn to and my 'body' wasn't what he was most concerned about. I know this was a long post...but I just had to share. It's really boosted my confidence and knowing my weight loss journey is truly about myself and not caring what other think

    Met my weight loss goal!

Congrats to you!! What an accomplishment!! I'm scheduled for surgery on the 22nd, but thinking ahead I have some of the same questions as you do. I've had 4 friends have the surgery...none of them have had plastic surgery yet. They have all maintained their weight at this point. My one friend says when she starts to put a few pounds on she starts focusing better on Protein and cuts back her wine for a week or so. She says its about balance. I recently read a great book by a woman who had the surgery and is a trainer and she talks about how to not regain the weight. It's an eBook and only 5$ 'Piratical Advice for Lifetime Maintenance after Bariatric surgery' by Pamela Harrelson Wishing you well!!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

@@guyfrom315!! Thank you!! I have been w/ this office for a while so I feel confident for the most part. Amy who does Insurance seems to feel I may have trouble getting approved so we shall see. lol I used to do lovonox shots from a blood clot a few years back so at least I have that 'skill' hahaha!!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

OK my friends..I had my psy eval today. It went awesome and we talked a lot about my concerns of being denied, expectations, etc. She honestly felt looking at my history, medical conditions, etc that I wouldn't be. She said she was very confident I would be ok but if not she would also help w/ my appeal based on my past medical, psy, etc. I am feeling so incredibly blessed right now!!! I am so grateful to have found such wonderful people both here and in my life in general!!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I had my pre-op yesterday at St. Joes. Words can't describe how happy I am w/ this hospital. I blew out a tire 1 mile before the hospital on a busy highway. It took a while to get my tire changed etc but the pre op dept waited for me ... On a late Friday afternoon when I'm sure they all wanted to get home. The pre op dept was so thorough & organized it took any fears I had right away!! I'm still praying this all comes together, as its my third time trying in 4 years. The nurse sat me down and asked why I was having this surgery as she thought I wasn't 'big enough' and my health conditions weren't so critical. I almost cried... I think my shocked face confused her. A few moments later she came in and hugged me and apologized bc she thought she sounded rude... But she told me she thought I was beautiful and didn't see my weight as I see it on myself. After sharing my story with her we talked a bit and her genuine softness & caring was exactly what I needed to know this was truly what I need to do for myself.
