Organic Natural Food Questions
bluepointsurgicalpatient posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 6/29 I am looking for suggestions from those of you who eat naturally and or organic. I realize that lots of NUTs demand things that are artificially sweetened or full of chemicals and preservatives. I refuse to intake those things because I never did before surgery. My NUT in particular refuses to assist me in reaching my goal without the use of these chemical laden foods and protein shakes. I have a raw vegan protein powder, fiber, vitamins .... But looking for more suggestions and friends who are like minded. I am happy for everyone's journey ... I am just looking for help for my own. -
banded yesterday with hiatal hernia repair...ouch
bluepointsurgicalpatient replied to tammy49's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on 6/29 Doc found HH during surgery and repaired it... It is painful but any band surgery can end up with a HH repair so it's nothing to worry about because it's not in our control. The pain I feel is much worse with the HH repair though. It's two surgeries instead of one. -
Looking for June 2011 Bandits!
bluepointsurgicalpatient replied to kittyforet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is June29th... So technically I am a June Bandit however I am wondering if I should wait and go with the July Bandits since I am so far out? I am trying to avoid Optifast and am eating raw vegan until sugery. So I am glad to have the month to play with. -

So I called my insurance company and they said I was approved as an inpatient. However it's not showing up online as approved. So officially I guess I am in process. I was assured by the nurse that I was good so I am going along now as though ONE MONTH FROM TODAY I WILL BE BANDED! It doesn't seem real. Not after all of the commercials watched, hemming and hawing, classes, seminars, tests, office visits, and even overnight for a sleep study...whew! I mean you really have to be serious about this to actually get to this point. You know I THINK I am ready. I have been on a raw diet for the past two weeks and I intend to stay on it until the surgery. I just want to get into my surgeons office and find out what needs to get done before i actually go for the surery. If I can just focus on knocking down a checklist of to do's then I won't be so anxious. This month of waiting is worse than the last year of waiting. -
Inpatient vs. Outpatient?
bluepointsurgicalpatient replied to haizea's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was submitted for inpatient through my insurance and was approved. According the hospital that I am going to Lap Band is inpatient. Good Luck with your new journey! -
HEALTHNET FEDERAL SERVICES AKA TRICARE NORTH ( PRIME ) IS LIKE A HUGE MYSTERY TO ME. I GET DIFFERENT ANSWERS FROM EACH PERSON THAT ANSWERS THE PHONE. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. MY SURGEON SUBMITTED TO THE 5/5/2011. CURRENTLY THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT A NURSE WILL BE LOOKING AT IT BECAUSE IT'S A LIMITED BENEFIT. THEY HAVE GONE FROM "IT'S NOT A PROBLEM" TO BEING VERY TIGHT-LIPPED. THIS IS MAKING ME VERY NERVOUS BECAUSE I HAVE PUT A LOT OF MONTHS INTO GETTING ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS FULFILLED. I REALLY DON'T THINK THAT IT'S FAIR TO DO THIS TO MILITARY SPOUSES WHO ARE ALREADY UNDER A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY. I AM JUST HOPING TO GET YOUR PERSONAL STORY OF YOUR APPROVAL PROCESS WITH TRICARE NORTH AKA HEALTHNET FEDERAL SERVICES. I AM ASKING FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE IN THE NORTH ONLY BECAUSE THE REQUIRMENTS DIFFER IN DIFFERENT REGIONS. I APPRECIATE ANYONE WHO WOULD BE KIND ENOUGH TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE.

Interqual and Tricare
bluepointsurgicalpatient replied to LaToya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tricare Prime North does have a six month supervised diet requirement. They tell you that you can use those six months to fulfill the Interqual requirements and your doctor will tell you what those are. -
Tricare Prime North Region
bluepointsurgicalpatient replied to Raquedan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tricare Prime North is very different than other parts of the country.... There is a six month doctor supervised diet requirement which is what takes the longest time. However they try to position it so as to say that you can use that time to fulfill the long list of other requirements that they have you do.
