  1. Hi All! Well, 1 year this week! I attached some before and after shots. I can't believe how far I've come. This year has been an awesome, hard, tearful, joyful journey. I would not change a thing! Go me!
  2. Hi all, So I am 7 months post op and have lost a total of 54 lbs. I work out with a trainer 3 times a week, in the gym two other days that week and am satisfied with my eating. Meaning that I think I am about in my green zone. I only eat three small meals a day and the hunger is mostly gone! I just feel that at 7months post op I would have had more weight loss. I am thrilled with losing 54 lbs and have never lost this much weight before but I seriously thought the weight would come off faster. I feel liked I have worked off every pound at the gym and using my lap band to control my portion sizes. What do you all think? I am just being bitter? It just seems like all these people are posting that they lost 80-90+ lbs in six months and that is just not panning out for me. Thanks for your help/advice.

    Slow weight loss

Hi All, I was banded three months ago and had my third fill yesterday. I have lost 26 lbs but can't shake the feeling that the weight loss is so slow!! I feel like I should be further along. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

I rejoined WW just because I like the support at the weekly meetings. Since my band, I am not following the points at all, just tip for healthy receipes, foods, and eating.

    Curves vs Gym

Hi all, I am contemplating joining Curves or a real gym. Any advice? Does Curves work? I am kind of intimidated to go to a real gym. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Surgeon Slow to Fill?

Hi all, Yesterday I had my first fill and my surgeon put in 1cc. I have a 10cc band. I have been reading here that some surgeon's are putting in 4cc or 3cc's the first fill. Is my surgeon going really slow? Is 1cc normal? Should I be asking for more? I felt really full yesterday but by evening time I was able to get down a shake. I felt full but was still able to drink the entire thing. Thoughts?

    1st Fill Yesterday

I had my first fill yesterday as well! I got 1cc and I felt so full pretty much the whole day but then in the evening I was hungry and was able to get down a smoothie for dinner. This morning I woke up not feeling that hungry and I am going to be on mushies so well see how today goes. I am hoping that I am one of those magical people that is in my green zone at only one fill!! Here's hoping!

    Self Fills

Instead of doing your own fills, you should try to find an RN that will do it for you. At my mom's surgeon's office, his RN holds "fill" parties and charges only like $75 bucks a pop to be filled. This wold be a safer way to go than to fill and unfill yourself. I know RN's that do this around the country. It is a cheaper route then having to go to the surgeon's office. Also you can make sure that the needles and saline that you are using are safe and the right ones!

3 weeks post op and only lost 9 lbs!

Feeling the same way as you. I was banded on July 20th and am down 10 or 11 lbs because that pound keeps coming and going!! I am able to eat a big amount as well and cannot get to the Dr.'s office fast enough to get my first fill. I also get nervous because I have herd that most of the weight comes off in the first year and 1 month has just gone by......I goes the good news is that I have not eaten at one fast food place since my surgery but I thought when I stopped that the lbs would fall off. WRONG!!
  11. I have a bad head cold since about 4 days ago and I am in the coughing stage of the cold. I am freaked that all this coughing is going to shake my lap band loose and pop all the stitches!! I am 11 days post-op am I crazy?
  12. I know everyone is going to jump down my throat but I am going to share my experience so far. I am 11 days post op and I began eating mushies and some solids by day 5. I talked to my surgeon and she explained that it really is just not trying to throw up because those could rip the stitches. She said I can eat as tolerated. I have been eating so much less in portion sizes than pre-surgery but this morning I was able to have toast and eggs. I was starving on liquids and I still had a huge interest in food by the 3rd day post-op and liquids were not cutting it. My best advice is talk to the doctor because I did and was so surprised at what she told me. I am down 12lbs and I am in a far better mood being able to eat again!!!
  13. I had my surgery on 7/20. I was in surgery by 930am and went home around 2pm. I had my surgery in a pretty upscale surgical center. It was beautiful! The nurses were excellent. i was most worried about the IV because I am a hard poke and they have to get in a semi-lrge IV for surgery. The nurse got it in one poke, so I was so relived! I walked into the surgery suite and I felt like I was in a movie. The doctor asked if I would like a little "happy" medication before surgery (fentanyl) and of course I took it. Then I don't remember anything, I woke up and the surgeon was over my bed saying how well everything went. The worst part was that I had a ton of nausea. They gave me loads of meds for this that made me even more tired. All I wanted to do was sleep. The car ride home was ok. I could feel every bump. I pretty much came home and slept off the entire day. It was a hard day for me because of the nausea. I began to feel better about 48hrs after surgery. I am now on day 5 post-op and I feel pretty normal. No pain. I was off pain meds in 48hrs. Good luck!
  14. Hi All, I am five days post op and I am so hungry. All I can think about it food. I am really trying my protein but I just want a real meal so bad!!! Does this hunger ever end?
  15. I was banded on Wed the 20th and my advice is just know that you are going to probably have a really bad 48hrs and then wake up feeling much better. My surgery went fine but I had loads of nausea after for about 4hrs and then just mega soreness at the incision sites. I was able to walk around with pain in the first two days but when I woke up on Friday, I felt like myself again! Now it's Sunday and I am pretty much back to myself. Yesterday I got up from the sofa and just popped up and forgot I had surgery. So long story short, just tell yourself its ok to have some bad days and it really does get better!!!! Good luck and you can do it!!!!
