Help with Pre-Op Diet
dizzy replied to Blessed&Broken's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for 5/24 also!! I cant wait.....started the liquid diet on 05/01/2011---- the first 4 days were a nightmare....but just seems to be habbit now......it's strange how you can fall into a whole new routine...love it!! any way.......I buy the whey protien ........vanilla and choc. I make enough in my blender to pour into my shake cups to take to work to last the whole day..... I blend 2 scoops protein mix......3 tblspn yogurt and Ice and milk......yummmmmmmmm! then I have a small cottage cheese for lunch and 2 egg whites for dinner (sometimes) I'm not that hungry any more so it's hard to get all the shakes in. Good luck to you both on your surgeries!!!!! hope to here from you soon! ps.....low fat yogurt and low fat cottage cheese...... -
I have been researching the sleeve/weight loss surgery for a year and a half. Now that I have taken the steps to get the ball rolling.......I can't get the "fears" out of my head! The one thing I havent found are statistics.......not that they would make up my mind for me but I think it would make me feel better to know what they are. I havent read hardly any "bad experiences" which is a great thing. I know in my heart this is what I will need to do to get the weight off and get healthy.....and I hope to have surgery in May (gotta do a 3 month thing for insurance) and there are days May can't come fast enough and then there are the days I think ...is it worth the risk of dying? all along telling my self....I run the risk of dying every day being at the weight I am now with all my health conditions......some one please help me get past the "crazy stage" I can only pray the months fly by so I can get sleeved and get on with a more healthier, skinner life. ha

How do you get past the fears??!!!
dizzy replied to dizzy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts. I believe I have made the decision....I of course second guess it just like a normal human being. I figure I'm an ol' pro at surgeries....having gone through 4 laporoscopies, appendectomy, knee surgery, hysterectomy, broken finger surgery, tummy tuck, rectocele, and a few other minor surgeries....sheesh.....looks terrible when I write them all out like that! LOL But having all of those surgeries and not having any problems at all with anistisia (sp) or recovery......should help me breath a little easier. I am 37.... 222 lbs and 5'3 . BMI of 40 on the nose! I have developed ( in the last year) diabetes, thyroid disorder, and an allergy to the sun(break out in blisters) I don't know if the sun allergy is "weight" related, but my dermo thinks it could have to do with my body chemistry changes which are brought on by the weight and my body trying to adapt....... and the good lord know what else they will find with all this preop stuff! It's scary....you are right...I could die a VERY slow unhealthy way......or I could have the surgery (take a chance) and go at a very old age with great grand children to remember me! Oh it feels so good to get this off my chest!! I love this forum!! what a wonderful world of knowledge!! Thank you agan!! -
Hello, I have been researching "the sleeve" since March 2010. I went to the seminar in October and my first visit with the surgeon was on monday 01/03/2011. Due to insurance I have to wait 3 months and go through some testing before I can set a surgery date. One of my biggest concerns is work. By the time I schedule the surgery I will have enough vacation time for about a week and a half. I havent told any one at work what I'm planning or anything. Mostly because all I would hear is " oh I hate to see you resort to surgery" or " if you would just do a little more walking" I wouldnt get the support I need so....I've decided to not tell my boss but tell my boss's boss. I want the company to be on board with me and know that this is something I have to do for me and my health and I dont want to get fired for taking time off or missing a day here and there for the testing prior to surgery. Is this a bad thing? My insurance that is paying for the surgery is through my company, so it would really suck for them to let me go over the time off. If I could get some thoughts and opinions I would be grateful!!!
