Surgery in 3 wks!! HELP
Nancy Rivers replied to Tamz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the forum. It's perfectly natural to be scared - you are not alone in this. So far, my pre-op testing includes a blood test (CBC, Vitamin/mineral level, A1C, etc), an ultrasound of my gallbladder and an EGD test due to the occasional acid reflux that I have. I imagine as I get closer to my date (whenever that will be), it will include more stuff at the hospital (like an EKG). -
Welcome and congratulations on getting sleeved on the 27th. I haven't been sleeved yet, but based on what others have posted, yes, the surgery will help with many of your health concerns. I think it's perfectly natural to be getting more nervous and scared. Afterall, this is a major surgery. However, keep in mind the reasons you are doing this and that will help. Feel free to ask questions here too. I have no doubt that you will come though it just fine.

Which Michigan VSG surgeons are the best?
Nancy Rivers replied to debby01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My cousin just had her surgery at Hurley in Flint and is doing fine. Although, I don't know who her surgeon was. I would contact your insurance to find out for sure if you would be self pay or not. Every insurance policy is different - even from the same company. For example, I am going to be self-pay but that is because any type of weight loss regimen is specifically EXcluded from my BCBS PPOM policy. But several others on here have coverage for that benefit. They should be able to tell you without having to go through all of the formalities of submitting. That way you can find out what they cover, what they do not, and any requirements they may have before meeting with your surgeon. -
When do you know it's time to focus on maintaining vs. losing
Nancy Rivers replied to Used2b575lbs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss so far! That is really inspiring. I would talk to your doctors and dietician about the remaining 59 pounds. The research that I have done seems to indicate that your body will stop naturally at the weight that that is "normal" for you. But, everyone is different. -
Congratulations! It's great to hear how much you have lost. What a great accomplishment! It gives me hope...

Need Pre Op Liquid Diet samples or ideas
Nancy Rivers replied to SquirrelyGirl's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
http://vsgfaq.wordpress.com/ That website has a LOT of information on it about the surgery, but there is also a section that has links to 5 or 6 different "diet guides" from around the country from doctors that perform the procedure. If your doctor/dietician didn't give you specifics, these might help. I would also check with them just to be sure. -
