hernia repaired???
Darlean6710 replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one that I was aware of but it was not giving me any probs. It was repaired during surgery and had no probs with it. I wouldn't even know it was done. Not a big deal -
Hell o everyone, I was lead here by Alex so I can share a bit of myself with you. I had my LB sugery in June of 2010 and am very happy with it so far, however, I am currently on the mend from a bit of a set back and gained 5 of the 25 pounds I initially lost. I have had 4 fills and currently think I need to get my band loosened as my lean proteins occaisionally get stuck. I started at 219, got down to 196, gained 5 and I am now getting back on track and lost 2 of the 5 so far. My challenges are that I have odd work hours which interfere with my eating schedule, still feel quite hungry after about 3 hours, getting stuck occaisionally with certain proteins and still find it difficult to behave at social celebrations (very large family and many parties). Hoping that blogging will help me get back on track. Would love to hear from anyone who can relate. I am not a scale slave, I feel success by how I feel and I feel much better now, but a bit dissapointed in myself. Need to stay focused.

New Girl on the Blog
Darlean6710 replied to Darlean6710's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes those numbers are correct. But, I only had a total of 60 lbs to lose prior to surgery. I lost 25 w/i about 2-3 months but it has slowed since. When band was too tight I was eating higher calorie "slider foods" that caused the weight gain. In addition, I am too indulgent at social settings and that is my biggest obsticle b/c I tell myself "I deserve It" problem is I am very social!!!! I need to stop lying to myself. I know what I have to do...I just have a hard time actually doing it in this environment. I m having no issues with the surgery itself, I truly beleive in this surgery. I don't even feel as though I have had any procedure in terms of after effects, side effects etc. It is absolutely the best thing I have done for my weight and health issues. Biggest perk: being satisfied with less food/weight loss. Biggest drawback: not a big one but probably the scars. Back on track and I feel terrific -
The Ultimate Scheme
Darlean6710 replied to FadnoMore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Helllllll No. I myself have not kept it a secret, but I am not volunteering either. It is awesome to see such honesty and that is exactly how I feel. What you have to remember is you will be working just as hard to obtain weight loss with LB surgery, if not more...the band is just a tool that will make it easier on you. Just because we are banded does not mean we can abandon all of our beliefs ass to what makes us healthy human beings. I think those who have not done research are narrow minded in this area. They just don't get it, especially those who have never had a weight issue. Totally supportive of your decision and totally understand. -
This is encouraging as I am 55 and beginning to see sagging in arms and knees. I know i need to add resistance training and this message will get me goning as I am only doing a 4 mile daily walk. Thanks for the uplifting info.....hope it works for me as it did you. Thanks

ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!!!
Darlean6710 replied to muffin56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I experience similar issues. I will eat a healthy 300-350 cal breakfast about 8:30 and by 11 I feel hungry, by 11:30...very hungry. I was at 5.5 but had to get an unfill b/c my healthy protein (meats) were getting stuck and began eating the slider foods which caused me some weight gain. I am probably going to make an appt to discuss this and see what they say. Really confused. I am thinking maybe I am eating too fast at times, but it is always the chicken and turkey that gets stuck.!@#$%. Anyone else???? -

Best of luck to you. Have faith that all will be well. This will be a distant memory soon and you will do fine. Love the name BTW. -

Hi...First time posting. Had my surgery June of 2010. Managed to loose 25 lbs until Dec 1st hit!!!. Between being too tight, the holidays and the northeast weather, I ate more "holiday goodies", stopped my daily 4 mile walk and was unable to get my lean protein down as I was getting stuck. Hence a 5 pound gain. Been back on track for a couple of weeks and have lost 2 pounds. Here is my situation...I don't feel restricted, feel very hungry between meadl and my meats get stuck sometimes. This tells me that perhaps I need an adjustment to loosen band, however, I don't feel restricted like I believe I should. Has anyone experienced this? I also have gotten myself in a sweet state where I feel I am craving sweets...Need suggestions or shared experiences to give me a boost. Love and respect the band but not being true to it 100% yet. Help me get there.
