    Pre op diet day 7....help!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I had a cup of hot tea with a little lemon and with in minutes- poof...the headache was gone. You all are so right. I made my dinner and a few minutes after that my energy returned. I am not used to listening to what my body is telling me. I am learning the signs and will get to know what I need as I become healthier. Thank you all for talking me off "the ledge". I appreciate it! Feeling much-o better-o this morning!

Cost of Lap Band out of pocket

$15,800 is my number... surgery date 6/1/11. This includes pre-op protein diet, surgeon, psych consult, up to 3 nights stay at the hospital and 1 years of fills. I am happy with this because I love the surgeon. I live in the Tampa - S. Pete area (FL).
  5. Above and beyond just how wonderful you look. I bet you have tons of energy. That is what I am looking forward to... not tiring out so quickly. Thank you for your story and tips.

    Sneakers

I get awful shin splits whenever I wear Nikes. My first pair was pretty old so I bought $150 Nike Shox and still had severe shin splints; even when just walking. I switched to Asics Kinsei and poof... shin splints are gone. Totally gone! Even when jogging. Anyone that has had severe shin splints knows they are so painful, it is even difficult to press the clutch in my car. My calves would swell so bad and I would have to ice them down. But anyway... It really also depends on what activity you are doing and what kind of support you need. It took me quite a bit of cash before I found the perfect pair. Funny things is, the same thing happened with my husband. Nikes would tear up his feet and knees. He finally bought a pair of Brooks - Beast (they are specifically for men with flatter type arches) and again, poof- like night and day. Long walks and jogs were not a problem any longer. If you are afraid it may be the neuropathy, best bet would be to see a Neurologist and go through an EMG (electromyography- a skeletal muscle and nerve stimulation test)... it is a test that can tell if you nerves are performing correctly. Then if it is neuropathy, it can be treated and your sneakers weren't the culprit. You could find out the root cause of the problem. Best of luck to you....
  8. My hubs and I are have been thinking about the Adjustable Gastric Banding for a while. I have been thinking about it a lot longer than him. We finally made the decision to do it together. We both have a date of June 1st. We are self pays so our surgeon was quick to get us on the schedule. I am looking forward to having some control over what we eat and working together to be a healthier couple. We both have quite a bit to lose, but hubs is in better shape than me. I can't wait to be able to walk faster to keep up with him. I have read a bit of negative blogs, but I am focused on the good. The band is only a tool and it can only work as well as I make it work. I am open to any advice and words of encouragement. I love reading all the success stories. I am very lucky that my hubs is doing this with me. I have read some not so supportive stories. Thanks for listening and I am hoping to have some success stories of my own. But first, there are quite a few steps before the big date. Hope to get to know a lot of you and thanks for listening!
  9. Dr. Jessee is banding my hubs and me on June 1st. Just starting the process, so I hope to hear more from everyone. Can never have enough support, right!?!
