  1. I got my first lapband in Nov. 2004. I started at 236 lbs. Lost TOO much weight and was 105 in Jan. 2011. Got food poisoning in Feb. Violently threw up for 3 days. Band slipped and I couldn't eat or drink for 4 days. Nothing would stay down. Not even WATER. I dropped to 82 lbs. b/c of having nothing to eat or drink for almost a week. Had to have emergency surgery in Feb to have band removed. I was very upset. I am all better now and am getting my 2nd (replacement) band in 2 weeks. Please be careful when and if you get sick and have to throw up. If you EVER can't keep anything down go see the doctor to get some fluid removed. I should have done that but didn't think about it til it was too late. However, I am a 'bander' for life and can't wait for the replacement.
  2. Hi. My surgery is in 2 weeks and I really want to be prepared. Does anyone have any yummy suggestions on what I should have in my pantry for the first two weeks after surgery? I am scared to get hungry and eat something that I am not suppose to. Any suggestions would be great! TIA!
  3. You will definitly know if you band slips. My band slipped after 6 years of having it and had to have emergency to remove it. Trust me...you will know if it slips. Just don't eat so much that you throw up. I get my 2nd band in 2 months. You will be just fine.

  5. I think the first 20 pounds was just weight that my body needed cuz of being so thin and sick. So...that 20 was a must. But to be honest...I just want to eat big portions because I can't get full....or at least feel full. With the band I always had that full feeling and knew when to stop...as it was a forced stop. (I hope that makes sense.) So when I eat now I want to keep eating because of the needing to feel full feeling I was used to for 6 years. I eat super healthy so I know it isn't cuz of chocolate or things like that. It really comes down to me wanting to get full. I pray that I never get sick again when I get my new band. I was devistated to have the band removed for fear that old eating habits would come back and to my dismay they did. My advice to everyone is to never purposely throw up...never eat too much to throw up....try to never throw up. It is the worst feeling to not be able to hold ANYTHING down. Band slippage is something to stay far away from. HOWEVER, some of this is my fault. For about a month before I got sick I noticed I wasn't able to eat like I normally did. Had I gone in to the doctor and had some of the Fluid removed this would have allowed to band to slip back into place as it had just a small slipage. But I didn't and the whole thing slipped. ( I hope this helps. Don't be fearful....just don't throw up.
  6. I am now at 142. Gained 60 pounds in 4 months. I know that I eat too much. I ate healthy...just too much. Therefore, I am a bander for life. It is how I succeed and maintain.
  7. Thank you for the info. This is my 2nd band and I want to make sure nothing happens to it, thus my questions.
