About Me
My name is Sasha, and my husband Rob and I have been together through all my ups and downs for over a decade. I love travel, scuba diving, exploration, karaoke, and anime. I'm 27 years old, and I've struggled all my life with my weight. When I hit I high of 250 pounds after graduating law school (I'm 6 feet tall) my doctor told me I was on the path to early mortality. I'd been hospitalized for asthmatic bronchitis, and was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I had a lap band procedure in October 2006, and just today celebrated my first 60 pounds lost, thanks to carefully monitoring my diet and staying dedicated to a fitness program. I want to be part of this forum to let people know that, no matter how long you've been overweight, there is hope. I lived my entire life with asthma, back pain, and social stigma. Now I'm living in a 5th floor walkup apartment, enjoying regular runs in the park, and I can't remember the last time I used my resuce inhalor. You need self-discipline, a positive attitude, and a great support system to make lap-band surgery effective. But if those pieces are in place you can change the way you live. A support system may be the most important item on that list -- if you don't have one, please message me and I'd be happy to help provide one. I gave up hope so many times -- my wish is that sharing my story can boost the morale of anyone out there who's having a bad day, week, or year. No matter how far you've let the problem go, you can make a new start today. I know, because I did. I still have a way to go (20 more pounds!), but I'll never doubt in my own abilities again. Don't doubt yours!
