    What I had for Lunch

I DID THAT!!! The italian herb flatbread a tiny bit of sauce mushrooms and cheese...ohhh it was sooo incredibly wonderful! I tried it first at like 3 weeks as well. I actually rolled mine like a burrito and cut it into thirds. It was sooooo wonderful. It was my 'pizza' fix...lol. You make me want one right now. I have been pretty turned off food lately...I need something like that to kick up my appetite. I think I am trying sushi tomorrow. I asked at my local place and AMAZING...they special make a hand roll of crab, avacado and cucumbers shaved to wrap! No rice...it was HEAVEN! Maybe sushi lunch and pizza dinner...how decadent will I feel! ?? Sooo...anyone who loves sushi ASK abpout rolls with no rice! YUMMY!
  2. I think in the first few weeks theres a lot of water lost. Once they take out that IV we start our sip sip sip all day all night can't ever seem to sip enough. Its no where near the volume we got in an IV. So we lose a bit more. You pick up drinking and eating some...that water balances back out in our body! I think thats probably your 2 lbs. The weight will keep going down, I PROMISE!
  3. If you have not taken measurements DO IT NOW! I try to do mine every Sunday...then if the scale slows I can see the inches! I completely need to see some progress on these difficult early days! Its not to late to start if you haven't yet! One of these days an inch or two could be your solace...or even sanity!
  4. Perfect! I am in total agreement. The days I was worried that I BLEW it cause my calories were higher...I lost more. Now higher and feeling like we ate soooo much is really our own little joke now because if we fed a 2 year old our portions we'd be arrested for starving them...but we feel like gluttons! LOL. Seriously...when I added something higher calorie, like a slice of regular cheese or one night an ice cream sundae cup from McD's (w/o the chocolate...I couldn't be THAT bad) I did better. I think adding a little fat and calories seems to help. I have only had a 4-5 day stall really (I am very thankful) so something is working. I hope your scale keeps going DOWN!!! (fast....lol) Tammy~
  5. I know exactly what you mean! It seems that plus size clothes cover a wider span of weight...womens clothes just make no sense anyway with sizes...agreed? Anyway, the drop for me from 18 to 16 was a LOT of weight but from 16 to 14 seems to be moving much faster. I think with misses sizes 10lbs can be a size where in plus sizes 40lbs can be a size!
  6. Just tell them you have had some stomach issues and are on a strict diet. You could say they are doing some tests and you're on a liquid diet...you might have an ulcer...IBS...anything. (she's not a nurse is she??)

    Diarrhea for 2 weeks +

I suddenly had like 1 1/2 weeks of diarrhea at like 3 weeks post op. It finally went away on its own. I really had to keep up the fluids, you don't want to end up back in the hospital! Good luck! Tammy~

    Smoking

well I can tell you, I don't smoke...but if you have surgery, you have to (quit that is...)!!! You're going to NEED all that money to buy NEW CLOTHES!!! You run out fast and its FUN! Good Luck!
  9. Its been 7 1/2 weeks. I'm feeling more normal, except there is nothing I feel like eating. Nothing is appealing to me. I love seafood...sick of it...veggies...eh, carbs I have been dying for...eh too, don't even feel like it. Nothing seems to have flavor that is "IT" lately. I am eating because I have to...biting things and tossing them cause I don't want to eat something that doesn't seem good??? I can only eat a little...don't want to waste it on what I don't really want. I have literally not eaten hardly at all 2 days this week cause NOTHING appeals to me. I am hungry...but ehhhh. Whats with this ehhh feeling. I would eat anything if it seemed good...no mind to calories or carbs or whats bad for me if I thought it would bust through this ehhhh feeling. But I got nothing!!! Any ideas ohhh wise ones? I'm at a loss! HELP!!!
  10. Hello. My doc said I can pretty much have whatever I want. The guidelines are just that. A map if you will for success with the tool he helped you obtain. He has ok's a glass of wine...so I would think popcorn on your birthday is ok...but I would try a little at home (to insure the no tossing in the movie theater) LOL. Happy Birthday!

    Dizzy ALOT lately

Ok guys, called the doc today. Never heard back...guess he's not too worried...lol. Feel crappy tonight. No energy, tired...no motivation, so here I lay in bed with my laptop. Maybe I am getting sick??? Ehh, tomorrow is another day! I'll rest up and ROCK Thursday! Hope you guys have a great Wednesday night....xo

    The nightly fever

Nurse here too, and I know about not wanting to call...but since its been a 'nightly' thing maybe you should mention it. I mean I agree, body healing, temp a little up isn't huge, but why not let the doc say that. If you were beginning a bit of an infection you would want to catch it asap...you do know that too. Ahhh...the old better safe than sorry and although its difficult...play patient on this one! Good luck, hope he is completely unconcerned!!! *HUGS*

    Stretched Uvula

I had horrible issues with mine after a previous surgery. It swelled so large I coughed and it just LAYED on my tongue! I felt like I was choking and couldn't 'swallow' it back. They actually had to raise my feet as high as they could...lowering my head so gravuty would have it fall back off my tongue. It was soooo sore for a long time. I think almost a month till it felt 'normal' to swallow. It sucked and I feel so bad for you. Are you going to see an ENT specialist? Thats who I would think you'd need to see. Good luck...and honestly, although another surgery is the last thing you probably want, they could just remove it to ease your discomfort. I do hope you find an easier answer. *hugs*
  16. What a great idea! I want to think of something creative now too! I can tell you I brought 2 HUGE bags of work clothes, dress clothes and casual clothes to my last support group meeting and they were devoured! It was really hard parting with some of my FAVORITE clothes, but wonderful seeing people so happy to have them! I kept feeling like if I gave them away, I'd gain my weight back and NEED them and have NOTHING to wear. My drawers and closets will be virtually empty with my next size drop...scary but absolutely wonderful at the same time! Do you know there is a site online...where people without insurance can get help with the cost of weight loss surgery? Not that I wouldn;t love a painting from a fellow loser, but maybe if you raffled one off and donated the proceeds to someone who wants to have surgery and cannot afford all the expense?? Help someone else change their life too!!! Just a thought, your picture on your profile is beautiful, you are very talented! Congratulations...and have fun planning and "paying it forward"

    Snacks

Hey...I know how hard this all is mentally and emotionally, I wore the meltdown crown last week...lol. I was calling Meg my "sleeve sucks" sister cause we were so miserable with our grouchy sleeves. I can say my numbers look good, but I did not have any pre op diet. Sooo all my weight loss has been since surgery and it seems like most people lost quite a bit pre surgery. I lose about 2-3lbs a week, but I really don't watch calories. I got so used to not being able to eat flippin anything, it didn't matter how many calories it was. There was no way i saw myself getting to much. Now a day for me on the menu is (today)...I ate a sugar free instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal for breakfast (or I some days have chiobani yogurt almost a whole one)...lunch is whatever I bring or what the reps bring that I can make work. (today was boston chicken...a little breast meat...maybe 1.5oz, a few teaspoon tips of mashed potatoes and 2 pieces of zuccini...and I was FULL! About an hour later I ate a bite of the other nurses brownie...lol, and then we finally celebrated nurses day by all going to dinner. My first dinner out since surgery. It was Italian...I got a chicken and shrimp dish over risotto. I ate 1 bite of chicken, 2 shrimp and a few tastes of risotto...(haven't had rice..it was delicious) I was completely satisfied and have leftovers for a week...lol. I will try to eat about a half of a banana before bed (some nights it works some nights the belly says NO) I have been doing this to combat the charlie horses in my calf. I will say work is tough...yesterday it was subway brought in for lunch (i ate the meat out of a piece of sub) and last Thursday it was Moe's (GOD< I love Moe's...that was a challenge though) I had some chicken chunks with some guacomole and shredded cheese and tiny bit of salsa mixed up. I think most things can work if I'm creative. I did this surgery to help me eat less and snack less...not to walk away from any food I may want. Did I need the brownie bite??? no, but I really wanted to try it...it looked really gooey. Before i would have had 2 brownies or a brownie and a big ole chocolate chip cookie...this time, a bite felt decadent! I can say I do a lot of walking now. I got a pedometer and I walk about 3-4 miles a day just a work seeing patients. Constant up and down. I walk a little at lunch (time is tough cause I have a half hour and I really need that to eat right now) I try to walk at least a mile when I get home, even when i'm exhausted..ugh) I have not been hitting my protein goals, shakes make me so sick and eating has been hard. I may try some of those protein shots? Water...I have good days and bad days. I hope this helps...I just subscribe to the SURVIVE this first few months theory right now.
  21. Ok, so most of you saw (and replied..thank you!!!) to my RANT last week. This has been a difficult 6 weeks. Fridays endoscopy went well, doc says healing great, looks good, no stricture, not narrowed and he didn't have to stretch anything. Hmmm..its a lot easier to eat since, coincidence? I guess...mental thing on my part, maybe??? Remembering to take my omeprazole...quite possibly. So...what do i do with my new found eating ease???? Lazy dinner night at my house! Have I previously mentioned I have 5 teenagers (ages 14-21) a big kid for a fiance...3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hamsters, 3 degus....(this is the excuses portion of my topic....lol) work full time as a nurse (always working late) am planning a wedding....sigh, my fingers are tired typing this...huff n puff! Ok, so dinner. Sunday was steak, rice, veggies, oriental cole slaw salad for everyone, me 3 shrimp like 5 little bay scallops and probably 3 mushroom slices. Monday was grilled chicken with tastefully simple's garlic garlic (yummmmm) rice again (leftovers) corn, and Pasta roni, me 4 shrimp, a few bay scallops and a piece of broccoli. Tonight I was TIRED! Hotdogs and french fries....me, half a hotdog and like 7 seasoned fries! I FEEL LIKE CRAP! Tried to get sick...nothing will come up and now I have had HICCUPS for almost an hour!!!! They won't stop...I can't hold my breath without hiccuping...LORD knows I can't chug Water and even the old great gramma trick, a spoonful of white sugar, NO WAY, that would be worse! How do I get rid of persistant going for an hour hiccups???? Is this my punishment for crappy choices tonight!?? HELP???

    What did I do???

Transplant...what did I do was my unfortunate food choice, not surgery...lol!

    Itchy incisions-Help

my incisions were itchy for weeks, part of healing, but annoying. As my steri-strips came off I just rubbed a bit of bacitracin on the areas to moisten them. It helped with the itching but didn't make them wet or oozy. I just wore a tank under my t-shirts to keep the residue from the cream off my shirt and to protect the incisions from jeans etc. Glad you are feeling good!
