14 weeks out tomorrow and a stall??
kids05 replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm right there with ya! I had surgery 4/12/11 and I have not lost a pound in a week! This is the first time I have stalled like this. I'm trying not to get too discouraged, and I know I didn't eat great this past weekend, but NOTHING to be stuck at! I am back to cottage cheese for breakfast, greek yogurt for lunch and a mostly protein dinner...something has to work! Hope you break your stall FAST!!! -

new symptom (insert weak & tired chuckle here)
kids05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so as I have mentioned...or you can see on my ticker...I am getting married (2nd times a charm right...lol) So, today we have 6 of us gals together to go see BRIDESMAIDS. Funny movie. Had a great time, didn't snack at all during the flick and I was fine with it...yay me! Agterwards a little shopping then everyone wants to go for ice cream. Ok...we go to Johnny Rockets. Only one kind of ice cream, regular vanilla. So I splurge. I have not had real ice cream in God knows how long. I got a single scoop of vanilla with a little chocolate and a little peanut butter on it and of course whipped topping. I didn't even finish the whole thing. So it can't be too horrible...right? All of a sudden I felt flushed, hot on the inside and a cold sweat on my face and arms. Can't seem to breathe comfortably...just feeling crappy...then I start to yawn. I did not get sick or have diarrhea (I was worried the whole way home) but the yawning continues...its been like 2 hours and I am still yawning??? What is that? Is this a symptom you have heard of? I mean I still feel off, but not as bad as I did....but yawning still...this is almost as annoying as my hiccup bouts. Sooo...one of you fellow sleevers please, yet again, tell me I am not alone here! LOL...this sleeve is making me feel like this sure is one crazy life! -

lol...I was thinking it was because I hadn't had that much sugar at one time yet thing...but I am STILL yawning! Maybe I need a nap? The heartburn is pretty bad at the moment too, 2 tums have not touched it. I agree..I will not be having ice cream out again any time soon. But the yawning every couple of minutes is just ODD...thought maybe someone else had experienced it. -

Unless you're allergic, aren't shrimp and Scallops a great protein
kids05 replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take my shrimp and scallops together with a tiny bit of butter, some sea salt and garlic and cook them in a frying pan. Then I take a few mushrooms sliced thin and toss them in for a few minutes (sometimes I add another chopped small steamed veggie to the mix). I put it in half cup servings in little containers and keep them in the frig for lunches or a quick easy dinner. Reheats in less than a minute...yummy! -
Medically speaking, the water restriction is usually until all your incisions are healed over. (no scabs) so you should probably be ok. Just check with your MD. At the worst, you can wade and splash around a little. The drain incision seems to heal the slowest...so if you have one, thats the one to watch> Good luck and I hope you're feeling great for your trip! Tammy~

I had that issue too. I could not do crystal light or flavored waters...they were sickly sweet! I have NEVER put ice in my drinks...room temp all the way. Cold killed my teeth actually. Now teeth be damed, I have to pack a drink with ice! Cold cold cold and it is the only way Water will go down! If its super icy cold I can tolerate it? Maybe try that??

Congrats!!! Great Job!

5 Days Post Op Issues
kids05 replied to Day Dreamer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry you're off to a rough start. I felt kinda discouraged at the beginning too. (tomorrow is 2 months) and while its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel...it does get better. And then you will have good and bad days. I still do, but I think I am hitting the point that I do not regret my decision. It has taken me weeks to get to that opinion...and I'm not 'all in' yet with loving my sleeve....but the weight loss was my primary goal and I know without a shadow of a doubt, it never would have happened and STAYED gone, if I had not suffered through the surgery. Sooooo...every time you lose a pound, know...that for the first time in your life THAT POUND is gone FOREVER!!!! So no matter how slow...how fast a pound goes or how painful or discouraging a day gets...you can know that things will absolutely positively get better in time and that you won't go through all this only to be back at your heaviest weight ever again!!! Good luck!!! *hugs* -
I for one would love to see pics!!!

I was scoped at 6 weeks and all you can see is a slight red line...no staples at all...closed beautifuly already! (ok so beauty is relative...I was an OR nurse...lol) I think once you are over the initial healing your pretty good on the 'leak' part.

kids05 replied to heylinda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I truly believe the first few weeks are the toughest. I'm 8 weeks out and its still hard. There is a GIGANTIC mental component to this surgery. I WANT things more than I am hungry for things....thats been my biggest battle. Good luck! And know that you can vent, cry and complain to all of us and we vent cry and complain with you! Share a victory and we all cheer with you! You are not alone! Hang tough! -

I wish I didn't delete every pic I could all the time 'before' I have very little, especially full length to compare me now and then. You look incredibily happy...thats the biggest success! *hugs*

I'm not supposed to have caffine but I'll drink a wee bit of coffee now and then. It does not taste the same to me either! I was a coffee-holic. Now I guess I'm on the wagon...lol. Its really funny how our tastes change!

What a feeling! I stood on the scale at about midnight Saturday and yelled for my fiance. He jumped out of bed thinking something was wrong! Poor guy was sound asleep...but this was BIG! I was giggly and happy and bouncy (not enough to make the scale not read though...lol) I was 199. BETTER even...I made him stand on it and he was 200!!! I FINALLY WEIGH LESS!!! Today I was 198 and I'm hoping for 197 tomorrow! Woo hoo. I like this 1/2 pound a day speed...I'm just afraid it will end soon and I'll hit that wall...the stall...and be sooo sad! I will enjoy this and worry about a stall when it happens...I hope I get a few more weeks of this though...yippie!!!! Oh and NSV. Pt says to my practices other nurse, "I just love this office. Everyone is so wonderful. I was taken care of by the best 2 nurses...(about her) you're just so nice and she (about me) is so sweet and so pretty! ME>>>she called me pretty. Its silly but it really was a nice feeling! SLEEVED April 12th - 242 lbs 1st goal ONEderland - HIT IT!!!!! June 5th 199lbs Next goal - 4th of July challange hope to be 185lbs (still have 13lbs to lose...will I make it???)

Well, honestly...I ate 3 oz of asparagus tonight...got SEARING pain in my stomach then vomited the asparagus and bright red blood. Called my surgeon...he said double the omeprazole and let him know if it happens again. Im a little worried, but it doesn't seem like he is....so again, Im in wait & see mode....sigh. PS...obviously I am not the 'norm'...lol, if it can happen, it happens to me! This is a crazy ride, this sleeve! Onderland is a nice place to live though
