teekii77 replied to MonikaHF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a recipe my doc office gave me that they said i could have when i started full liquids and blended food. which happen to be days 5&6 after my surgey. You may enjoy it when your doc says u can have it. Half a banana, half cup of OJ, and 2 oz of greek yogurt and ice put in blender til smooth. strain then enjoy. Its yummy and it keeps me full for a few hours. Good luck -
Cheated but don't feel bad about it
teekii77 replied to Rachael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! And like someone else posted food shouldn't be viewed as good or bad. And I'm so glad No one attacked you for confessing that. I did a little confessing myself the other day on here and you should go read all the stuff people said to. all I wanted to know is why eating the"Cheat" food so early didn't bother me? And it was like I broke some sacred lapband code!lol Why do we call this stuff bad food or cheat food anyhow? We should all be able to eat what ever we enjoy and can tolerate in moderation and not have to repent for it! GoodLuck to you -
Really worried and going to try to go to the dr tomorrow!

Cheat foods not bothering me?!
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Eda I want to tell you I've been on this site for only a few days So I will just start off by saying be careful. I have what people may call thick skin so as of right now I can handle what most of the posters say because in between all of the Criticizing,Judging, and the Soap Box Preachers there are some people on here that are able to stick with the topic or at least give you some good tools or advice without making you feel small or feel the need to defend yourself from writing a simple post. Not Many but there seem to be some!lol I'll try to be one of the actual non judgmental kind encouraging type of person to you. Or at least say I can relate to what your're saying. Somehow everyone took it as me saying I'm just chowing down on any piece of junk I can get my mouth on. I almost wrote a post saying "BACK UP OFF ME!" Even tho its the truth I hope I can make you smile some. Shoot these folks ain't no joke on here!lol Anyway like I had posted earlier I have never felt Hunger pains like this! This is some tuff stuff. I have been working seriously on my weight since 09 The key thing was to make good choices in food to avoid those hunger pains. Feed the diet! lol Well Honey what I'm experiencing right now is so frustrating. It gets on my nerves so bad that I have to eat every few hrs. You can't even stay up late without those doggone hunger pains chasing you. I'm used to eating a good breakfast, full healthy lunch, and a light dinner. I had even got to where i didn't even need any snacks in between my meals just water or light lemonade. So I find all this eating annoying and having to figure out what to eat or what not to eat even more annoying. I'm ok with it because I know its only for a little while and as one person stated above she doesn't do all the diet food and etc. And She's almost at her goal. I'm finding that this is a very true statement among the "honest posters" or people who's had this done. My little sister had this done back in 09 and she says that this is the hardest but shortest part. The part we're going thru right now. I see my sis eat pretty much whatever she wants but she has learned some self-control courtesy of her big sis!lol No for real she was losing but she still wasn't eating good stuff, a bunch of junk. As a result she never had a lot of energy and get this She started losing her hair. I'm a hair dresser and a few times of me pointing this out and fussing at her, snatching hawaian punches out of her hand and putting milk in it,She got with the program!lol Now dont get me wrong she still loves her junk but she eats her protien and veggies 1st then if she has room for the junk which she usually dont then she eats it. (my sissy was even a junkaholic even when we was kids!she gave our mommy fits!)lol Anyway Long story short My Sissy got married last Month and she was the most beautiful size 12/14 bride I had ever seen! she started at size 26/28 like myself used to be. So I'm saying don't let these people on here and dont make yourself feel like the Hamburgular! Like someone else says you got to find what works for YOU. and there is something thats gonna work for you. Not what works for them.Like the girl who loves to tell everyone how many calories are in whatever food we say we ate!lol I'm like chick don't you think I know after all these years of working on my weight all this time how many calories are in 2 oreos! I lost the weight I did from counting calories. So if I decide to have 2 and not the whole sleeve you better believe I know what I'm getting ready to eat.If she keeps doing that thats gonna get annoying to someone. If somebody wants to know how many cals they're eating they can go buy a calorie count book like she did, like I did!lol Its great that, that works for us,but that may not work for someone else. I will say this I never volunteered that info to people unless they asked me. they knew I knew it if they wanted to know the cal count they ASK me I would tell them. Otherwise Please Shut Up!lol Thats an easy way to get cussed out or get your feelings hurt! Hanging over a hungry fat person shoulder telling them how many calories they getting ready to ingest when it sounds like a lion is trapped in their Belly! Or even worse like this chick on here does, telling them after they already feel bad about eating it. Its like kicking someone when they're down! Well I hope I made you feel better or anyone else who is feeling Hungry and frustrated Like myself and just wanted to confess I ate 4 doritos without feeling like its the end of Lapband world. Please! We are gonna be ok! I'm sure someone will eventually ask me to leave this site, cuz I dont seem to fit in with straight lace bandsters thats on here. But until then I hope I can help someone if all I can offer is a "Lets Keep It Real Attitude" Good Luck All! -
Hi Everyone I had my band put in 4-28-11. Prior to my surgery I was stressed to the kilts trying to get my clients caught up before I left, stress at home and I had been suffering from some diagnosed post traumactic stress from a robbery incident that happen to me, on top of that two days before my surgery the ugi I had showed some type of growth in my belly that the doc had go in and take a biopsy of before they could perform the lapband. Thank the heavenly Father it was ok. Anyway I said all of that to say this I'm one week after my surgery and i'm just starting to get some energy. Is this normal? I have slept the entire 1st week. Mostly thru the day and absolutely all thru the night. Now granted this has been a tough week for healing, but I've completely shut the outside world out and I've just slept slept slept. I haven't had to have any aid in sleeping either and normally I always need something to sleep. So is it just me or has anyone else having trouble staying awake?lol Any positive input or advice is welcomed thanks.

Banded 6 days ago and concerned
teekii77 replied to OKCurt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi ccruz. I got banded on 4-28-11. My experience was the same as yours. It had been 7 days after my surgery with still no bm and boy was it painful. My Docs nurse finally had me to take some milk of magnesia and it definetly helped. I feel like 100% better now. Just make sure you're up walking around and drinking enough and still after that nothing call your doc. I'm telling you I think I went way to long by the time I talked to nurse I was doubled over. Now I'm Kind of loose like the rest of these folks hear but compared to how I felt This is way better. Good luck -

Cheat foods not bothering me?!
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah sorry to whoever said no OJ. I'm not a diabetic or anything and oj is one of the best diet foods I ever tried. Sorry I can't give up the OJ. Everyone please remember Moderation is the Key! No one will ever convince me that natural juice or foods are a worse pick than man-made chemical stir ins or whatever. Although I do enjoy them also from time to time!lol -

teekii77 replied to MonikaHF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc let me have fruit as long as I pureed everything til it was as smooth as baby food. Hey Don't feel bad about the slip up. I did it too around the same time you did. I put a post up about it Something about why didn't the cheat foods make me sick. You should read it!lol although people was way nicer to you than they was to me. One person was like why did you even bother with getting the band wonk wonk wonk!lol But Don't let anyone even in your home make you feel bad about that. Their not in your bodyand just because you got the band doesn't give someone else the right to be your food police. that will get real annoying fast. But hey you're gonna be at this a long time and I promise you it won't be your 1st slip up. So don't beat yourself up over it too much. Good Luck Girl! I'm sure you're gonna do just fine! -

Wow thanks Apple for that. I'm telling you during all the time of dieting, i have never been so hungry!lol but like i said i stop eating as soon as the growling stops beacuse i dont like the feeling of being to full. I got over that feeling back in 09 when I first started working on my weight. I go to see doc on the 11th so I'm hoping to be able to have an egg or a bowl of cheerios soon! -
Cheat foods not bothering me?!
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I should have read everyones response first before replying to just Fluffy's post. I certainly understand everyones post and concerns, and dont want anyone to think I take them lightly even Fluffys. When I make a post I usually like to stick with my question and don't really do well with attacks. In other words i dont like people talking to me as tho i'm a child in ld class. But anyway you all did have valid points and my heart really goes out to the people who said that they have really bad struggles with the food. I remember back in 09 when I first started working on my weight I was 302lbs standing at 5'2. I was eating myself to death literally. Back then I was 30yrs old. I remember crying because I ate so much that my stomach hurt. I also remember praying asking God to give me the strength and discipline I needed to overcome this. My doc suggested LapBand right from jump but I told him I wanted to wait and at least give it a good try on my own first because I had never truely tried on my own to lose weight without any diet aids or anything. So with much prayer I got my behind in gear and just did it! The hardest part for me was getting a grip on the self control when it came to the food. I never did good with rules and can't do this can't eat that. If someone tells me that, its like I crave it all the more. What did work for me is Knowing hey You Can Have An oreo! And you can eat it and stop at 1 or 2. You dont have to have the whole sleeve or half the container which is what i used to do. Eat a snack size bag of chips you dont eat Half a bag of the family size. Or the biggie for me. T have 1 slice of your granny's sweet potato pie and dont take any home. You dont have to eat the whole pie. Get it? That was my biggest accomplishment. Well I kept at it and of course I relearned how to cook healthy,I stopped eating out. If I wanted burger and fries I cooked it at home and controlled my portions. So I didn't restict myself to the point where everything was labled bad unless it was green and leafy. No I gave myself those treats but took charge over how much I allowed myself to eat.I think thats why people fail at losing weight tho from all the cant do this rules. Anyway I bust my tail and I got down to 227. My problem was i could never get pass 225. With all my docs help. Keep in mind I have never been slim. And its easier to count the slim people in my fam than the fat ones. So you see where I'm going with this. My lil sis did the band in 09 while i was dieting and it worked well for her so after maintaining my wieght for an entire year(almost) I went ahead with the band. I say almost because at one point I put on 20lbs during the course of holidays divorce home burgalies,etc...but I promised myself and my doc I would have it off by the time of my surgery. He told me I didn't have to because he was glad that I was able to maintain for as long as I had.So we made a deal if I got the 20lbs off before april of 11 and this was jan of 11 when we made the deal that I only had to do 7days of soy protien pre-op diet instead of 14. Guess What? I won the Bet! But I did the band because as I stated previously I never want to be 302 again and I just got to get over this 227 hump. And even tho I'm just starting with the band I'm over that hump! So really I understand what you guys mean about having the self control. No one knows it better than me. My doc has more confidense than even I about doing well with the band because of the discipline I've showed over the course or these 2yrs of my weight loss journey. this is definetly a new journey for me. But If I get so bent out of shape and act like there is no room for mess ups I will fail at this as well as the rest of you. we got to keep it real and tell the truth.Stop making people feel like 1 cookie or chip will wreck the whole plan. I certainly understand why the doc has me on the food he has me on right now which is why for the most part I'm obiedient to it. Remember I said I hadn't done it since. Maybe because of my past experiences and having my sis here with me who's been thru it I'm more laid back with my approach. But everyone does what works for them. But hey everyone For real It took a lot of Prayer and Focus to get me to this point. I just wanted to know if anyone else had similiar experiences as me or if i was the only imperfect human on the site. Its good to know that I'm not alone, but to the ones who is really struggling you really can get thru this. Falling off the wagon is not the end of the world.Tell the driver to Pump his breaks so u can jump back on that joka! Good luck everyone. -
Cheat foods not bothering me?!
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Fluffy for your spanking!lol Your response has nothing to do with my post But for you FYI I started at 302lbs and got down to 227lbs all on my own with out any aid just diet and excersice. And I got news for you I always had Cheat foods from time to time. I decided to go with the lap band because I kept gettting stuck at 227 to 225. no matter what the docs had me to do. And no it wasn't do to the cheat foods either!lol more genectics than anything I guess. but anyway I'm disciplined enough to have kept that weight off so I didn't have to start my "journey" at 302lbs. I decided also to do lapband because I dont ever want to see 302 on the scale again. at 5'2 its not a good look. But I probably know a thing or to bout sticking with a diet. But thanks for your Would be reality Check anyway. Oh by the way I lost all that weight during the course of '09 maintained during '10 lapband '11 next episode. -
Cheat foods not bothering me?!
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I feel restriction like I fill up quick which is why I dont eat a lot because filling up is very uncomfortable, it just doesn't seem to matter what I eat as long as its very litlle, chewed well no problem. My sis said she was like that until her 1st fill. I still think its a lil wierd. Athough I'm not gonna push it because I know my stomach is still healing so I dont want to chance it. come to think of it tho when I was able to go to full liquids It was like thank goodness! because at first liquids and clear broths was gagging me all except jello. It was like the sooner i got on full liquids and mushy food it was easier to keep liquids down. Even now to try and drink clear liquids on an empty stomach makes me wanna gag. I have to wait til I've had something heavier wait like 30 to 45 mins then try water or juice in order to tolerate it. Thicker juices like v8 and oj and 1% milk go down with no problems as long as I dont drink real fast. Go Figure? Anyone else? -

7 days post-op left side stabbing pain
teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi delightful. I know what you mean about that shoulder pain. I used Gas x and pain pills for mine!lol It will get better as far as the gas from the surgery. Just hang in there. Today my nurse had me to take milk of magnesia. And wow after it kicked in and my stomach settled I felt like 100% better. That Gas ain't no joke!lol But make sure your're not going to long b4 having a bm. Because that combined with the gas is torture. Nice hearing from you. Best of luck to you! -
Wow I just posted a similiar thing except my period is ok. I thought something was wrong with me because I had been sleeping so much. So maybe I'm ok if others have similiar symptoms.
-
Lol I complained of something very similiar just last night. By then I was in so much pain I didn't know if I was coming or going. Finally got a hold of a nuese today and she said that having gas was a good thing!lol And that getting up and moving around would relieve some of the pain. I also had become very constipated. So after a nice cup of milk of magnesia and a glass of oj i finally started getting some relief. But the gas pain I had had become trapped so make sure you get up and move around some. But that MoM's saved my life!lol Good luck

Hi Elie You're not helping so why dont you find someone else to harrass. You seem to be a bully. The comment about my lil sister was totally uncalled for and a very low hit since you know absolutely nothing about me. I'd rather not hear any of your viewpoints because you dont seem to know how to talk to people without trying to be a know it all I'm smarter than you way of saying things so please could you just leave me aloneIt wouldn't matter what you had to offer from here on out because i would simpley scroll pass your comments. @at 54Shirley and SDTeagirl thank you for your support and suggestions. I did find out what the pain was,and I'm feeling much better. I was really worried and frustrated at first so sdteagirl thanks for your kind words. I had a combination of gas blockage and constipation and it was starting to make me really sick.So now i'm not feeling so tight and bloated. Just wondering if anyone knows how long my tummy will be sore. And how long before all the tape falls off? Teagirl since you're 1 day behind me how are you doing with liquids and hunger pains? My hunger pains are ferocious! Although it doesnt take much for me to fill up or I just lose interest in what I'm eating. Strange.Something else I am so wore out. all I've done this 1st week is rest.Is that normal? I wasn't sure if it had something to do with being under so much stress prior to surgery. Any input from anyone else is very welcomed. Thanks -
Sorry bout your arm. Looks like you're gonna have to do just ice on 20 and then heat 20. Maybe some tylenol because I dont think we're allowed to have antiflamotories . Sorry Dude. hope you feel better soon.

Hi I just got my band 4-28-11. I can relate to you I felt the excact same way the first few days. It felt like I was having a heart attack when I would drink. You have to just take small sips even just to wet your pallet. just keep taking small sips even eating ice chips helps. liquids was the hardest for me to keep down. Jello worked better. but eventually really soon the Water won't hurt as bad. Goodluck -

teekii77 replied to teekii77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont see anyplace where I stated that people who dont know me hate me. Thats silly. Like i said the statement about calling a doc was annoying to me or oh um "dont wait when something seems wrong" statement sounds a bit condensending, who wouldn't know that, so maybe your attitude needs to change. I have questions just like everyone else who could also be asking a doc but decided to run it across the forum. Your post after your "change your attitude speech" was more helpful than your prior post. You could've just did like the others and not responded. And by the way for anyone else who just might have similiar symptoms going on the anti-gas meds do seem to be helping. If I ever hear back from my doc I'll let anyone who's interested in knowing if gas can cause someone to feel that bad after the surgery. -
Really struggling with this post-op diet!
teekii77 replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I had my banding 4-28-11. I was told to do 1-4 days clear liquids days5-6 full liquids. day 7 until I see doc blended, mushy food. I'm glad i'm not alone because even tho I fill up fast my hunger pains are crazy! So far everything goes down well just as long as I dont over eat. Even a few times i cheated like a couple of chips or a saltine cracker no problems as long as i chew chew chew. Today I'm craving a chef salad and chicken like crazy! I didn't think I would be so hungry. What gives? So I've been focusing on drinking a lot in between meals and eating really small meals even just 4 or 5 bites in beteween. to try to keep the hunger abay. Does anyone know if fat free refried beans and guacomoly counts as mushy food. Someone please help! I just want something salty and satisfing. -

Umm,wow thankElie. It looks like a lot of these discussions are questions for a doctor, but it hasn't stopped anyone from chiming in an opinion. A doc wasn't available last night when I was in pain so i was just looking for some ideas.
