I had my sleeve plication done by Dr. Juan Corvala in Tj. They picked me up at the airport in San Diego and brought me to Hospital Angeles. Had a great experience. No problems. I had surgery in July of last year and have lost 54 lbs so far.

Hi Carol, Looks like you're doing really good. I know what you mean about ordering in restaurants. Sometimes I just order from the kids menu because I know I can't eat it all and I don't want to spend the money on a regular meal. I've been ordering what I want and bring the rest home. I've lost 54 lbs. It looks like we're pretty close. You are doing great!! Julie

POSITIVE PLICATION EXPERIENCES

Ditto! -
Hi Melanie, I had my plication in July of this year. I've lost 54 lbs so far. with 29 to go. I've had not issues at all. It's all a learning process this new way of eating. Best decision I've made. I had my surgery with Dr. Corvala in Tijuana. Everyhting was great from the pickup at the airport to the before surgery, after surgery, caring during my stay, and back to the airport. I stayed at Hospital Angeles. Clean and very modern. Better than the states, really. It was a great experience and would do it again in a heart beat. There are things you will have to experience to know what we are talking about. For instance, you will have to lose your love of food. You won't be able to pig out any more. If you try, you will get sick. You can still eat anything you want but not the same amounts. Now, I am very cold most of the time but you just wear more clothes and pray for summer to come. Still, worth it, worth it, worth it!!!! YES YES YES!!! I've gone from 233 lbs to 179 and still losing. Was a size 22W and now I'm a 14. Hoping to get to a size 10. I can do things now I couldn't do before. Jog, sit on my husband's lap, wear misses sizes clothes, etc. My experience was very positive and I am soooooooooooo glad I did it. Dr. Corvala was wonderful. Any other questions I would be happy to answer.

I had my surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Corvala.

Hi Karen, I had the plication in July. As far as the eating part. I can eat anything I want. Nothing affects me in a bad way. I eat about 4-5 ounces at once depending on what it is. Last night I had a burger with bacon and cheese on it. Probably 4 ounces. I do eat almost all protein and if I feel like I have to have something else I do just a little bit of it. Yesterday my daughter's boyfriend made her a homemade carrot cake. It looked so good I had to have a bite. I did and it was delicious. I have lost 43 lbs in 3 1/2 months. I've had no issues at all. Hope this helps a little.

Ihave6kids replied to nikki6055's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I also went to Mexico for my surgery. Best think I ever did. I never could have afforded it had I had it done in the States. I see now the price has gone down since I had it done. I recommend it to you if you're considering it. -
Does it make the protein shakes super foamy?

Has anyone here NEVER had a stall?
Ihave6kids replied to ozzy22's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ya know, for me its been hard to keep the carbs low. I didn't think I was having that much but I've been keeping track these last few days and having more than I thought. Milk is high in carbs. Even the lowest carb protein bar that I can find is high in carbs. The beans in chili are high in carbs. Anyone have suggestions to keep the carbs low but the protein low? -
Plication Weight Loss Check In
Ihave6kids replied to MS LISA's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I am walking about 2-3 times a week. Lifting some weights to try to firm up my jiggly arms. Not sure if its going to work but I'm trying. I would say I was on full everything food at 4 weeks. There was a couple of things that didn't agree with me. (Beef and eggs.) Those things are fine now. Now there is nothing I can't eat. Keep in mind, the majority of things I eat is protein. The carb things are only a tiny portion of what I eat. Yesterday I went to Old Country Buffet. I had maybe 3 oz of meatloaf, couple bites of bread, few bites of brocolli salad. I didn't get my money's worth but I did lose weight. Remember, protein, protein, protein! Keeps your muscle mass. Dont' give into carb craving. If you do, wait until you've had your protein until almost full, then have a couple bites. -

I'm still here! I hit onederland a few days ago. YAY!!! Just barely, but I'm there. Almost 11 weeks since surgery and 33.6 lbs off. It does slow down but its coming off. What's the big hurry anyway? LOL. -
Finally! I thought it would never happen. It took me 16 days to lose 3 lbs. I had been hovering at 206 for such a long time and the last 3 lbs took such a long time. I'm so excited! :001_tt2:

Sweet things taste wrong!
Ihave6kids replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks out and sweet things don't taste right to me either. I used to have a crazy sweet tooth. Brownies, donuts, cookies. You name it. Now, I couldn't care less about sweets. My daily protein shake is good enough for me. I'm shocked about it acutally. I hope it stays that way. -
Would you go to Mexico alone for surgery?
Ihave6kids replied to ButterflyBandita??'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would recommend someone going with you. I went to Mexico in July and brought my mom. I needed her so much while I was there. Help me to the bathroom, put a movie in, help me to explain what I wanted to the nurse, hey, just keep me company. Of course you can do it alone but if possible, you should try to bring someone. -
Do you regret surgery and miss eating bigger meals?
Ihave6kids replied to sweetlover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi sweetlover, (I like your name, by the way.) Ya know the little bit of time I "Regret" the surgery is so little compared to all the times I was majorly depressed about being overweight. Before I was sad all the time about it. All the time!! Now every once in a while I think about Thanksgiving and Christmas coming and I won't be able to pig out. that's ok. I am going to lose while everyone else gains this year. Thats a great thing!!
