Ihave6kids replied to Jenn's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Yes, its nice to know we can eat "Normally" once in a while. I would be terrible if we felt deprived all the time. -
How are all you July sleeevers doing?
Ihave6kids replied to Ihave6kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well Happy Annivery on July 16th to you!! I'm 5'7". You've heard people say just keep going. Keep eating Protein. Keep drinking Water. Well, they're right. Keep plugging away. It'll happen. Try to start moving a little more. I do daycare and during naptime I jog in place and in the evenings my husband and I go on walk/jogs. I had my surgery in Mx so I don't have a Dr. here to help me with anything. I mainly get my support on this website and obesityhelp.com. Kinda sucks that I don't have a dr here but I do go in for my labs and get that checked out. -
Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
Ihave6kids replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon is Dr. Corvala in Tijuana. I stayed at the Hospital Angeles. I had the plication. He is a pioneer for that surgery. -
5 Things you Don't Know About Gastric Plication
Ihave6kids replied to chowchows's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I agree chowchows. I go to a Saturday support sometimes and I'm the only one who hasn''t had the RNY. Let alone the plication. I was explaining my surgery to someone today and just said it was the vertical sleeve not mentioning the plication. They wouldn't understand. It's good to talk to you guys when we can relate to each other. -
How do you deal with social situations after WLS?
Ihave6kids replied to chowchows's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Do you know where you're going yet? Maybe we can make some suggestions. I have an idea for McDonalds. (I do daycare and I take the kids there.) You can have a grilled chicken breast. Very tasty I might add. -

We sound very close to each other. I have 20 lbs to go. I hope to lose a total of 83 lbs. I started out at 233 and now weigh 169.4. I have felt exactly like you are now. I went up and down within 3 lbs for over a month. I was doing well if I was trying to maintain. But I'm not trying to maintain. I finally broke my stall and have lost 2 lbs in the last week. Hopefully it keeps going down. -
How do you deal with social situations after WLS?
Ihave6kids replied to chowchows's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I've been quiet surprised how few people have actually noticed when I eat differently. The first time I ate with other people after surgery was a big family picnic. No on really noticed because it was potlock. I brought My own food mostly but did have some of what was there. When you go to restaurants, order a water but you don't have to drink it. . The waiter gave me a funny look the first couple of times I ordered nothing so now I order water and it just sits there. -

Chow chows, Your post made me smile. Sounds like you feel a little better today and I'm glad for that. If I have a bad day in eating specifically. I keep reminding myself, "One day at a time." Tomorrow is a new day and I have a clean slate tomorrow. Feel free to pm me or on the boards. Take care and have a great Friday. Julie -
Today I'm down to 20 more. Little by little.

I had my sleeve plication in Mexico last July. Dr. Juan Corvala was the surgeon. One of very few last year that was plications. My experience was nothing short of fantastic. Of course there was s ome pain afterwards but that is to be expected with any surgery. The hospital (Hospital Angeles) in Tijuana was just as clean or cleaner than anything in the states. Completely up to date, lacking nothing. I myself 100% recommend going that route. I also was self pay. My surgery was 7,000.00. Would do it again.

How Are You Feeling About Your Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery?
Ihave6kids replied to FatToPhat's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I am so very sorry that you're feeling so bad. I too have felt exactly how you are feeling right now. Try very hard to remember the reasons why you had this surgery. For me I didn't have health issues. Not yet anyway. I had the surgery to avoid those problems that I would be sure to get eventually. I went through many ups and downs over the last 10 months since surgery. When you finally completely realize that there is no turning back then there is acceptance. I was 46 years years old and SICK AND TIRED of being fat!!! I was ready to do something about it. I didn't want to live the rest of my life fat. Now to talk about the fact that you're not losing right now. I sooooooooooo understand where you're coming from. Believe me. I have only lost 8 lbs since Christmas. 1 lb in the last month. It gets very, very discouraging. You have heard it before and I'll tell you again, eat your Protein. Don't eat bread or Pasta or Cookies or any kind of junk. If you do, eat very little of it. You should be getting most or allof your nutrition from protein. meats, cheeses, nuts, cottage cheese, Beans, milk. Vegies if you have room in your tummy. Walk walk walk or whatever you like for exercise. Water, water, water. Yes, you have changed the way you eat forever. But think about how healthy you're going to be. How great you're going to look. Those cute outfits in the misses department and not the womens department. I've gone from a womens 22 to a 14. I'm not at goal yet but am very happy with where I'm at. There are those around you who have lost very quickly. I know a lady who started out at 298 and had her surgery 1 day before me. She has lost 160 lbs. I have only lost 62 lbs. I get discouraged when I see that. You only can look at yourself and not compare. Think about how you were losing weight before. Probably not at all. Think about what you've lost so far. IT WILL COME OFF. But you need to follow the program and keep working. This is not the easy way out. In some ways, it is more difficult than without surgery. We can't turn back. Keep your chin up. Ask God for help. I ask Him daily to help me through this ordeal. It is worth it. I wouldn't undo my surgery for a million bucks. Wishing you well, Julie -
YAY! As of today, I now have 20.6 to lose. That took a full month to go down only lose .6 Went up and down within 3 lb for the last month. Stalls happen and they are NOT FUN!!

How Are You Feeling About Your Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery?
Ihave6kids replied to FatToPhat's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I have stalled many times. Currently I weigh the same as I did a month ago. I keep going up and down with same 3 lbs. So very frustrating. I've only lost 7 lbs since Christmas. Remember, we're in this for the long haul. For the rest of our lives. It's not just a temprary diet. We have to learn how eat. Change all of our old eating habits. -

I had my surgery in July of last year. Almost 10 months out now. I've lost 60 lbs so far. 23 to go. Very slow the last 4 months. Only lost 7 lbs since Christmas. I weigh the same for a month now. I'm definitely losing a lot slower than those with other surgeries. No issues at all. I can alot more that I could the first few months. It is getting harder to be good. -
We've all heard talk about how the plication hasn't been around that long and how it hasn't been proven for very long. Just wondering how long it has been for everybody since surgery. Mine is almost 11 months out. Anybody having any issues since their surgery? I haven't. I can certainly eat a lot more now compared to the first few months. At first I could only eat a few bites of anything. Now I can easily eat 4 ounces of meat plus a few carbs of something else. I hate that. I've lost only 60 lbs. I stillhave 23 to go. How is your experience going with your plication?

Eyes bigger than stomach!!! woohoo..can you believe it!
Ihave6kids replied to bizzy's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but it won't always be this way. Not for me anyway. I am 10 months out now. Almost 11. At first I could only eat 1 egg or less. Only eat a few bites of anything. Now I can eat much more. I can have 4 ounces of chicken or beef plus squeeze in a few fries. Enjoy this "Honeymoon" phase. It doesn't last that long. -
Mexico - Gastric Vertical Plication Sleeve
Ihave6kids replied to TerriTmac's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I also had my surgery by Dr. Corvala back in July of last year. As far as pain management. I had the opposite problem. Theykept giving me morphine and I didn't need it. I had to insist they not give me any more. I agree knowing a little Spanish would have been helpful but I did manage to get my point across somehow. The hospital was spotless and quite wonderful. I would do it again in a heartbeat. -
Congrats. Wondering how you're doing now. I'm at that point now too. Only 22.4 to go.
-
You're doing great Carol. I'm at 57 lbs down now. The last 3 months I've only lost about 5 lbs though. So so slow but at least its moving. Glad you're doing well.
-
Hi, sorry I just received your e-mail. I don't get on this website very often. Yes yes yes!! I recomment Dr. Corvala In mex. I've had no issues at all. Things are going great. I've lost 57 lbs in almost 8 months. I have 26 lbs to go. Would highly highly recomment the vertical sleeve or plication.
-
I had the plication. No leaks or problems at all. I've lost 55 lbs and am 7 months out. Had it done in Mexico. I would recommend it.

gastric sleeve plication in mexico, help?
Ihave6kids replied to vickie's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I also had my plication in Mexico. Actually met Cknorte there. "Hi Carol!" Anyway, like Carol said, the surgery and hospital experience was great. Dr. is well experienced and wonderful. I've had absolutely no issues at all. I've lost 54 lbs so far. I recommend it. -
It was 7,000.00. You need to check out the reputation and experience that the Dr. has had. Not just the price.
-
Just wondering how everyone is doing. I had my sleeve plication on July 16th. I've lost 54 lbs so far. 29 to go.
