  1. IF I HEAR SOMEONE SAY THAT ONE MORE TIME, I AM GOING TO SCREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAMMMMM!!! Why do these people assume they know what its like to go through 30 years of trying to lose weight., a hundred different ways. Then finally we find something to help us finally lose our weight. The easy way out?!?!?!?!?!? You gotta be kidding me. I've never worked so hard to lose and keep my weight in my life!!!!! Who needs friends like that?? I sure don't.
  2. Had my plication on July 16th of 2010. I've lost 72 lbs with 11 to go. I think I'm stuck here though. Been here for a good 6 months or so. It's ok. I'm a size 12 and was a size 24 before.

    When does the gurgling stop?

I'm 17 months out and it still happens to me too. It happens at church and it is embarrassing.
  4. My doc was Dr. Corvala in Tj. Surgery Hospital Angeles and cost me 7,000.00. I had the plication. Experience was great. No complications at all. How about you?

    15 lbs to go.

Slow but sure. Very very slow.
  6. I also had Dr. Lopez Corvala. Everything was wonderful for me. Google his name. You won't find anything negative about him. Others you will.

I received a call for surgery date!!!

You are feeling what every one else has felt. You don't know quite what to expect and it makes you scared. That is perfectly normally. This whole thing is a learning experience. Within 1 month of my surgery I was totally sorry I had the surgery. I cried. You can't quit and it is a little frightening. When you realize all the wonderful aspects of losing weight you finally come to accept your decision and are ok with it and eventually very happy you did it. People say they would do it again in a heart beat. You may not say that right away but you will say it eventually. I felt like I was going to fail also. I thought I would be that one person who the surgery wouldn't work on. (I think we all think this.) Well, it has been just over 1 year and I have lost almost all my weight. (68 lbs) with 15 to go. A little slower than most but still coming off. Trust what everyone is saying. We're not getting paid to say all these wonderful things about our surgeries. Lol. We really are so very glad we had this surgery and DEFINITELY would do it again in a heartbeat. Wishing you well, Julie

    I think I'm done losing.

I lost 1 lb this week. Been waiting for over a month. It's ok. I'm getting used to the idea of not losing any more weight. Maybe it will happen. It really is ok though.

    I think I'm done losing.

Yes, I can definitely eat a lot more than I could a couple months out. I also feel if I was eating like I am now and didn't have the plication I would be losing faster. Yes, I would definitely consider revising to the sleeve just because I'm not sure if I'm going to have complications down the road because they don't know the long term effects of this surgery. Also, I would like my grehlin removed. I suppose if I don't have complications I won't revise unless I come into some more money where I could afford to have it done. Yes, a size 12 is nice. I guess when you have a number in your hear its hard to be content when you haven't acheived it.

    I think I'm done losing.

You had your plication removed? What kind of complications were you having?

    23 lbs to go

Now I'm down to 18 lbs left.

    23 lbs to go

Nice to be in this section. Sooooooooooooo slow though. I've only lost 7 lbs since Christmas. Nothing in the past month. It does get discouraging but I have to keep trudging on. There is NO way I'm going to let myself gain the weight back. I've suffered too long, spent way too much money, and worked too hard to goof it up!! I've lost 60 lbs since my surgery in July of last year. I've lost more since this last picture. I weigh 172.8 now.
  13. Ihave6kids

    I will admit it!

I'm not giving it 110%. Maybe 75%. I eat protein most of the time but still have plenty of carbs. I rarely exercise. I do write my foods down and drink maybe half of my water each day. I complain I'm not losing any more weight. (Maintaining though) I know what I need to do. I guess I'm not willing to give it more. I have 18 lbs to go till my goal. It does get much more difficult the closer to goal I get. Hopefully I can get some motivation from you guys. Please help me!!
  14. Wish I could say with most everyone else that my hunger is gone. I had the plication so my grehlin isn't gone. I guess that makes all the difference. I am hungry at least every 2-3 hours. If I eat the Protein I'm fine. If I eat carbs, hungry much sooner. Its' been just about 12 months for me.

    On vacation and can't eat

I am so sorry for how you feel today. I know exactly how you feel. My family went to Red Lobster when we were on vacation last year only 5 days after my surgery. I sat in the car and ate my soup and felt sorry for myself. I just couldn't watch them eat. Just 2 nights ago they went out for pizza and I stayed home and felt sorry for myself. Most of the time I can go with them and have what I'm suppsed to have but sometimes I have eaten what I should for the day and choose not to go with them. I have cried just like you. Overall, I am so happy I had the surgery and wouldn't trade it for the best food on the planet. When you start seeing the lbs come off it really helps you know that you made the right decision.
  16. Hi Sarah, I have thought about this same thing. I had my plication back July of last year. Actually start out exactly at 233, like you. I have lost a little more than you, 65 lbs. But have seriously thought about revising to a gastric sleeve. Not because of the slow weight loss but because of the not knowing what is going to happen to my health down the line because of having the plication. They don't know the long term results of this surgery and it does concern me. Also, with the gastric sleeve they take out the grehlin. If I could do it over, I would defiitely get the sleeve. So expensive though. I can't justify going to Mex. again and paying more money. I have 18 lbs to go so I am pretty happy. I has been sooooooooooooooo slow since Christmas, I only have lost about 12 lbs since then. Were you this nervous for your first surgery? What country are you from? You did it the first time and you are ok, right? Why not finish what you started? You will be happy you did. I wish you well. Julie

    Things I hated pre-WLS

Wearing a siza 12. Wearing a size 22 is not good. Putting my foot on the chair and putting nail polish on my toes is a good thing. Bending over and barely able to breathe while trying to put nail polish on my toenails is not fun. Having people say to me, "You shouldn't lose any more weight" is a very nice thing to hear. Of course I know its not true but I like hearing it.
  19. We had some friends over the other day on a day that was close to 90 degrees. (Memorial Day) I knew it was warm but I was very comfortable and certainly not hot at all. I felt fine all day but I could see everyone else was hot and when I hugged my daughter's boyfriend when he left he was very sticky. I told my husband he is going to have to tell me this summer when the air needs to be turned on. Bummer for everyone else but nice for me especially after freezing all winter long.

    Check out the number

I see the high number but where are they all? I think there is probably only 10 of us actually writing anything. Lol.
  21. I had often stated that I would get wls in a heartbeat if I could. Well, it was practically a heartbeat. I asked my hubby last June if I get the surgery in Mexico. He said sure. Within 3 weeks I was in Mexico. I didn't do much research, My bad. I have learned 100 % of what I now know since my surgery. I wouldnt' necessarily recommend doing it that way but it has worked for me and I don't regret it one bit.

    training for a 5K

Good for you!! That is my dream too. I know what you mean about jogging outside. so much different than on treadmill. I'm still self-conscience jogging outside. Thinking everything is jiggling so much. My brain hasn't changed much.
  23. I had my plication done last July. If I overeat the last bite feels like a rock in my stomach. I have over eaten only twice and both times I could have thrown up but really just had dry heaves. I eat about every 2 hours and then about 3-4 ounces of dense Protein. If I eat anything other than dense protein I can eat more. I could popcorn all day and not get full. I've lost 64 lbs and am so happy I had it done.
  24. A lady I hadn't seen in a while was surprised at my weight loss. She said I looked great. I told her I had 20 lbs to go and she couldn't believe it. It was nice to hear. Of course she didn't see all the fat under the clothes. Lol.
