Hi Shar, I felt that way, a little depressed like you a day or so ago. I think I was already mourning the foods that I can't have. And then I started remembering what everyone else has said who has come before us that we will be able to eat our favorite foods again, only in moderation. I also just wasn't feeling very good. I didn't notice when you were banded. Also once you start to see the scale moving in the right direction it will motivate you. Hope I helped a little, I am right there with you.

Hi Everyone, This is my day 5 and I can't believe how much better I feel. Almost no pain where my incisions are and I'm starting to feel like my old self again. I found a wonderful dessert in our area that is wonderful. I didn't get an Ok from the Dr. but it is called Dr. Oetker's Mousse Supreme Light. You make it with 1 cup of skim milk and it makes 5 servings. It has only 1 gr. of sugar and 4 gr. of carbs.and 1 gr. of protein and only 45 calories. I used to make this when I went to Weight Watchers. It is as light as air. You can find it where the powdered SF jello and pudding packages are. I had the milk chocolate and it was great and they also have it in Dark Chocolate Truffle and I think vanilla. Make sure you get the "light" though. Hope all our you guys that were banded are doing well and good luck to everyone on Monday.

Hi Everyone, I'm done and in bandland! This is how my day went, I went in at 11:30 a.m. on Monday May 14 (my anniversary I might add) Was taken in for surgery around 2:30p.m. My family said I came out around 6 o'clock because I was in recovery for a couple of hours. The surgery I think said took 1 1/2 hrs. and that everything went great! The first few days were not so bad, but when I got up for the first time I got the dry heeves and it was awful, I needed some anitnausea meds stat, which finally came and helped immensely! I guess at some point in the middle of the night they said my heart rate slowed down quite a bit and they were concerned as to why, but it never happened again and they are going to monitor it as an outpatient. The following day I was to go home I had to go down for the Barrium swallow but I had too much swelling for it to go down so the doc wanted me to stay one more day and try it again after the swelling went down. The next day it did and I was able to go home. Hooray! I feel a hundred times better today, except for the incredible sounds that are coming from my belly. No real pain and I didn't take any pain meds today. Having my jello, Unjury and ice chips so far but do not feel hungry. The worst part of this whole experience is finding out how terrible our health care system as gotten. I have NEVER been in the hospital for anything except having my two boys, but this was horrible. The nurses could have cared less about us. Don't get me wrong, we had a couple of nice ones but on the whole they were not caring or pleasant or anything......I am so glad to be home and starting my new life. Take care and good luck to all those that are going in soon or have just had it done.

I found the link and got to the spreadsheet, but how do you put your info in? I clicked and double clicked the box but it won't let me type in my info? By the way, great idea. I go in at 11:30 today for my surgery, I am sooooo excited and nervous!! Paulette

Hi Everyone, It is so nice to hear from the people who have just gone through surgery and hearing how well they are doing. I am just AMAZED that you guys are able to do this on an outpatient basis.....they are making me stay overnight. I wish I could come home the same day too. Is anyone having any issues with their husbands or significant others about being jealous or thinking that once you lose the weight that you are going to leave them?? I was to have surgery on Monday the 7th and it is postponed for next Monday the 14th and all of a sudden my husband is so mad at me he won't even talk to me!
-
Good luck tomorrow- JerseyDori and Mischievous1 Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Crabcake so glad you are doing well. I can't wait to hear how your experience was.

Hi Everyone, Hey NVgirl- Congratulations! I am so happy it is over for you and I can't believe they sent you home already. You sound like you are doing well. Please continue to update us as to how you feel if you are up to it. Well, for my update the Dr. did call me this afternoon and I am rescheduled for next Monday, the 14th. Unfortunately, that is my Anniversary but I guess what better way to Celebrate it than to start a new healthy life. I do have to do a bowel prep again which sucks but whatever it takes. At least he only makes me fast for the day before sugery after I take the Fleet Phoso soda. My husband is so scared about this whole process for me, I am trying to reassure him that everything will be fine. I want to wish our May bandsters set to go tomorrow good luck and know that many prayers are going out for you. Good luck healthny, crabcake, NaeNae, lubterp, Shar, and Roxie1951 I wish you all the best. Let us know how you do? P.S. Could someone put me back on the May calendar for May 14th? Thanks.

I will definitely let you guys know, and what really made me mad is the Doc says I was trying to call you all morning was someone on the computer. He tells me what number he tryed calling and the number was to my Primary Care Physician and it was his fax # on top of it!!! I have only been to his office and that hospital a billion times in the last month or so and they don't have my telephone number?? So now I sit and wait.......ugghhh!

Hi Everyone, You are never going to believe this!! I went in for my surgery today. Was in surgical gown, family all present getting set to go into the operating room at 12:00 and doesn't the surgeon come in and say that my surgery had to be canceled!!! He said that the hospital did not have anyone on staff to administer the fluid they inject into someone to do a CatScan in the event that a person has a blood clot. He said if I was a Gastric Bypass patient there is no way you could have it done and because I was getting the band he possibly could've done it with loading me up on blood thinners, but there was still a chance of risk involved. Needless to say I am beside myself with disappointment, he can't even tell me when it can be rescheduled yet. He said he may even do me at another hospital in the area if they don't get this matter resolved at this hospital. I just cannot believe this.....I was so prepared and now I have to go through drinking that gross stuff again to "clean" myself out and fast all day. And I had work all arranged with coverage. I am just so bummed. Oh well, I just wanted to update you guys. I'll let you know when I hear more. Paulette

Hi Susansilver, I am having my surgery tomorrow at 12:00, thank you for the encouraging words. I am really getting the jitters now and watching my older sons face with the look of worry isn't helping matters. And this is the night before. Just the thought of kissing them good-bye in the morning and not knowing what is going to happen is so scary. I guess you just have to have faith in God. And I know the reason for doing this in the first place is to be able to live a long healthy, life and see them grow up. I just need to ramble on I guess. Thanks for listening.

Hey PghMomof3 and NVgirl- Looks like we're up next.... I just wanted to wish you both good luck tomorrow and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as I hope you will do for me as well. And also good luck to all our May bandsters coming up. I will update you all as soon as I feel up to it. Take care.

I have another one: To be able to wear a pair of jeans that zip and not be pull-ons

Hey Everyone! You guys are awesome, I am getting so excited about the new lives ahead of us. I'm a little worried about everyone at work after the fact because I feel as if everyone is going to be watching what I eat and don't eat. I have one co worker that justs keeps asking me what I'm supposed to eat after this and that she is going to eat everything I eat so she loses weight too. She is driving me crazy! I wanted to add to the bottom of the list: 21. To maybe be able to wear a sexy nightie for my hubbie and look good in it.....
-
TracyinKS- Congratulations on being on the other side finally! I have been reading your posts for so long I guess I thought you had it done a while ago. You always have something good to say. Well, how do you feel? I go on May 7th (God willing the surgeon will do it). I had planned on taking off 2 weeks from work. What did you decide to do?
-
Hey Nimblebean- how great of you to do that chart. It came out great! NVgirl we're bandmates....are you guys getting nervous?
-
Thanks Wenjea I am off today so I will look to see if I can find them.
-
Oh Wenjea, What sort of Protein shakes are you taking?
-
Wenjea- Thank you for the information regarding the protein loading. I'm wondering when I go in on May 1st for my final weigh in if he will have me do either a protein diet or liquids like everyone else has. I agree about the losing weight part, if we could do it ourselves why would we need the LapBand. What his theory is is that he wants me to "get it" that the band is not an easy fix, that you still have to work on eating properly and if he can get me to do it now, hopefully I will do it after the surgery. He said to me " I have some leverage over you now because you want to be banded" once you have the surgery I have no control over what you do, but I am still responsible for you. He said he doesn't want to see me set myself up for failure. I told him that I know how to lose weight and that I had lost 42lbs on W.W. several years ago only to put it back on again. I need this to help me keep the weight off. I know I can do this! I'm just so anxious I'm eating wrong at times. And the writing everything down is driving me crazy.
-
That is so ridiculous. I just had my tests done yesterday and my surgery is set for May 7th. I still have to go for my final weigh in on May 1 and get clearance from my Primary Doc before everything is a go.

Hi May Bandsters, I am so nervous, it is getting close now. I had my pre-surgery blood work and EKG and chest x-ray today. Everything went fine. I am worried though because my Surgeon wants me to be on South Beach and to really stick to it. I haven't really lost any weight since the 4 lbs I lost when I had my 1st meeting with him on March 8. I am following it the best I can but he told me if he doesn't feel as if I am doing what he told me and if I haven't lost what he thinks I should have he will cancel my surgery, even if it is the day of.... I only have 11 days to go and I am so anxious that he won't let me have it done. I have been walking on the treadmill and trying the best I can. It is so hard because on one hand you want this so bad but my head is saying, I'm never going to be able to eat this or that again so I'm going to have it now and I am screwing everything up! I am really, really going to stick to it this next 11 days. Also he didn't tell me to go on a liquid diet either. I have to write everything down and I'm afraid If I just do liquid or just skip a meal he will yell at me for not writing it down. I'm sorry I'm rambling. Anyone have any advice?? :help:

Hi LauraP, Nice to meet you, we will have to follow each others progress after we are banded. I am so excited. Last night I was looking at everyones before and after photos and I swear I was up until 12:30a.m. Thank goodness I had off today. It was so awesome to see how different everyone looks even after just a few pounds. I think it's because they feel that they are finally in control of food not the other way around. I can't wait to be up on that board someday too. Paulette

Hi Everyone, My name is Paulette, I am 48 yrs. old and am scheduled to have surgery on May 7th. Needless to say I am very nervous. I have been going through all my testing since January of this year. Everything is done up to this point. I met with my surgeon last Wednesday and was very excited when he gave me a "date". The only catch is that he wants me to follow the South Beach Diet and keep a journal and bring it in and get weighed at least two times before my sugery to see if I can follow a diet. He said that if I haven't followed it as well as he thinks or if I should gain weight, he will cancel the surgery even if it is the day of. I totally have no problem what he is asking me to do. He explained to me that he wants me to get used to following a diet plan so after the banding I will not fail. However, how do you get over the feeling of wanting to eat everything in sight because you feel like you will never have those foods again? Sorry this is so long for a 1st post but I have been coming to this site for a month or so now and was nervous to post anything. You have all answered many questions that I have had and I hope I continue to get support from all of you before my surgery. Thanks!
-
Thanks TerriDoodle for the encouraging words. And Congratulations on getting banded. How wonderful! How do you feel? Are you in alot of pain? This site has been a terrific place to get information. I just hope when my time comes, the Dr. will be happy with my progress so far. Take care and good luck in your road to success! Paulette

phuber40 replied to Teachlady's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me how to put a ticker in my posts? I only posted one thread, I didn't know if I had to put it in my next thread or if I could edit my thread and add it. Thanks for you help.
