  1. Happy -- Birthday Minnmor!

  2. Hi everyone ~ I am new to this website so still figuring it all out! I got my band on April 12th and have had ups and downs ever since, but each day is a new day and each step forward is one that I look to! Three weeks post op, I am still not eating too much which I think it's contributed to anxieties of the fear of getting hiccups or it coming back up. A week post op I did get dehydrated and had to get fluids, after that I was great for a week, until those hiccups came after my post op appointment .. spent 4 days in pain from those as they caused an air bubble that was huge. But my nurse at the doctor's office is great, she got me on the path to recovery and now I feel great, I even have hungar pains today. I switched from a milk based Protein shake to a juice based and I am doing so much better getting Protein in each day! Each day is a new day, I look forward to the years I have ahead of me to be in good health and spend with my family and friends. I started my band journey 3 years ago, researching and waiting on insurance. My insurance finally came through this year! A year ago, I was 314lbs, today I am 258, and my first fill isn't until May 31st. I am proud of that accomplishment. If anyone has had struggles during their first few months, please let me know I am not alone. My doctor actually talked to me yesterday about removing my band becasue of my highs and lows with they way I have been feeling since my post op. (Those dang hiccups) - I emailed him and the nurse today to let them know my new nectar protein I started yesterday made me feel much better and compared to yesterday I am 100% better - again highs and lows! I can do this, change is good, and the new journey every day is good.

    Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

I hope your surgery went well and that you are on a good road to recovery. Take each day as it comes, I received my band on 4.12.11 and that is one thing I have learned - each day is a new day. Good luck to you!
  4. I read your Q&A's, thank you for that - I received my band 4.12.11 and have so many highs and lows since then, I got dehydrated from not drinking the appropriate drinks after surgery ended up in the ER with severe retching until I got several bags of fluids, then I began to feel better - the day of my post op appointment 16 days post op, I got hiccups upon leaving the doctor's office - spent the next four days in complete misery until this past Monday when I found out that I had a large air bubble on my left side, I think it is gone now and I am just sore from having it because I still ache in my back and through my shoulders. I am trying in vein to adjust, but for some reason I am struggling, my surgeon actually called me today as I email my nurse daily and told me I might have to have my band removed - we are giving it another week - I got different Protein shakes that are juice based as they are easier to digest for me so I hope the increase of protein helps termendously. Do you have any advice for this newbie so to speak? My preop weight was 314 a year ago and I got myself down to 271 the day of surgery, since then I have lost 10 more pounds, and I don't get my first fill until the 31st of May - I just can't eat a thing other than liquids still. feel free to email me minnmor@yahoo.com as I am new to these forums and not sure how they work just yet, thank you.
