    Elliptical Anyone??

That's the way, BlooEyez!! You don't even have to go up a minute every time! Do 4 minutes for a week, then 5 the next week, etc. Or break up your workouts by doing 8 minutes with a 5-10 minute break in the middle. You're doing great!!

Michelle - Y'know....I've been on this earth for a long time and I've seen and heard about guys like that all my life. But I have to say, without a doubt, that this guy wins the Dick of the Year Award. And if he's that much of a dick, GOOD RIDDANCE. I hope you told her to get herself a very good lawyer right away. There are many things she will need to do with great haste to protect herself and her children. Yep. Dick of the Year. Hands down.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Stop it you guys!! Really! It's just the principle of 'what goes around, comes around' at work here. You all are the highlight of my day, every day, and I'm just trying to give back a fraction of what I receive. Mmmmuah! "It is too scary out there..." LOL!!!!! So true. ROFL!! This totally cracked me up!!! Rants and raves scares the poop outta me....but maybe you've got something here! Laura - Not that I don't love babies...but I'm glad (if you're glad) that you're not pregnant! Hey, did you ever paint like you wanted...or pick out a good color? What rooms? I love to paint. Well, I don't love to paint...I love the results! I'm pretty bold when it comes to color....my bedroom is the color of creamy coffee. Hannah's room is the color of the sky. Richard's study in our old house was a dark plum. FUN! I love the color of tangerine...I just can't figure out what to paint that color! Maybe the garage?? LOL

No, look again, Laura. I figured I overpaid $30... I think it was $399 for the bugg + 3 months subscription...unless I missed something.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

What Kat said -- get your fills, follow the rules and exercise. Blech. I know, I know. But we don't have any magic here....just the same ol, same ol! As for trying to establish new behaviors, I found that reading a good book about how to change (This Year I Will, by MJ Ryan) helped motivate me a great deal. Made it seem real do-able, y'know? kat, you're a saint. You should have set her straight...I hope you did. Hi Pammy sorry you're haviing a very rough week. I wonder if you just were hungry and didn't chew that chicken real good. I have to be sooooooooo careful with chicken. And the skin from tomatoes and grapes, etc. can give me problems too. OK, now about your weight ...you went to Jazzercise last week 5x and your muscles are freaking OUT right now!! They're holding onto all kinds of water trying to heal up. And the same goes for being sick... Richard has allergies and bronchitis quite often and he gains 8-10# when he's sick. Just be patient. You might be a little constipated, too (?). It'll work itself out...you know you're doing the right thing so you must have PATIENCE AND TRUST. Just get better. That's job #1. It was a crazy food day for me...way out of the ordinary because I had a lunch meeting with a limited menu and then out for dinner. Anyway, I won't bother with the detailed menu but I did go to the gym to work off 300 calories and ended the day with net 997 calories (goal is 1000) but only 48g protein. Will only get in about 60oz of water at best. Tomorrow I have 2 more meals out! Service awards at a fine steak house for lunch and then wine and dinner out with the girls (and HAYDEE!) at an italian restaurant. I'm going to try real hard to be good. I have been so amazed at how my WC oatmeal is holding me for breakfast!! I'm lovin' it!!

No, I didn't realize the cost was so high! Oh well, that's what I get for not researching properly!! Crap. That's ok...I'll just go pick the extra cash off of my money tree in my back yard.

Laura - You may be a little anemic. You can either have your doctor check your blood count...or just take a good iron supplement. When I was pregnant I became anemic and within one day of taking the supplements I was like a new person!!! Especially since you've been having so many periods, too...that's what I would suspect first thing. Ask the pharmacist about a liquid supplement...I don't think you want an iron pill sitting in your pouch..as I recall they can be hard on your tummy.

Haydee - 407 calories for dinner isn't bad! That's about what I eat for dinner or lunch. I love Chipotle!! ...especially the salad!

HH - Your trip sounds heavenly!! How long were you gone? Are the leaves changing? (must be!) I was there about 10 years ago and every little town is like a picture postcard....so beautiful! I'll bet ya'll had a wonderful time. Hey, maybe we could do that for our Violets trip?? That way Jenn could join us! I could definitely do a long weekend in Conn., VT or somewhere up there. It's so different from Texas!

    Elliptical Anyone??

Yeah you have to vary your routine because, as with any other repetitive action, your body is very clever and will adapt to conserve energy. We do NOT want to conserve energy!

Kat - I ditto what Michelle said. I have a friend who also had thyroid cancer...she was in her late 30's at the time. Her treatment was like Michelle described...nothing like the chemo you had before. We'll all be praying for you! It worked for Kinsey! We must have some kind of power with the Universe! If love counts for anything, then you're covered!! Amanda - You sure go to a lot of weddings! LOL Any excuse to celebrate, eh? Glad to hear your mam is going with you. TracyK - keep us informed about your nephew...poor baby. Makes me so sad that someone would be that desperate. When Evan (ds) was 15 I found suicide notes that he had written....and as you can imagine we jumped all over it and that marked the beginning of his treatment which has proven to be a life-saver (literally). He was dx'd borderline ADHD and 'mildly' bi-polar...the kind that hopefully he will outgrow when his hormones stop raging. He is 150% better now and where he was depressed and failing school, he is now much, much happier and, for the first time since elementary school, brought home A's and B's on this first six weeks' report card...including in Physics, Calculus and Engineering Design! You can imagine the sigh of relief I am breathing! Ya'll have a great day!

    Self-Pay question

If you have excellent credit (like I do) then you don't need to get a "medical procedure loan" unless you just want to do that! When I checked on those the interest rate was much higher than I was able to get on my credit card. I have 3 major credit cards. I called each of them and told them I was about to make a major purcchase of $14000... and what could they offer me in terms of special interest rates, etc. I ended up with 9 months at 0%, then 8.9% after that. The 'loan' was 14.9%! Shop around.

    Sorry You Did it?

I posted a poll back in March with a similar title. Over 300 people responded and 92% said that they would do it again...and 8% said they would not. Now I'm 6 months out and I love my band!!! If I had some type of complication and had to have it removed I'd be devastated. If I had the option of being re-banded I'd definitely do it.

Well, I broke down and got a bugg....got it on Ebay for $230 brand new. Feel pretty good about that. So you'll be seeing me 'round here in a few days as i try to sort it all out!

    Elliptical Anyone??

What's great about intense machines is that you do get a very good workout in a short period of time! I burn 100 calories in 10 minutes on the rowing machine....but I'd have to walk 35 minutes to burn the same amount! I'm all about getting out of the gym ASAP!! And I am only able to do about 10 mins on the rower before I poop out, too! But I started out doing 4 minutes 3 weeks ago...so I'm already making progress. You'd hate the treadmill eventually, too! You made a very good choice. Just be patient with yourself.

Accountability time!... B: WC oatmeal with milk & butter L: chicken salad, 4 saltines, plum S: orange D: tilapia & green beans& sugar free fudgsicle Still working on my water -- should get in 64 oz. Exercise: rowing, cycle & elliptical 50 minutes NET CALORIES: 721; 58 g protein Everyone did great today!! Keep it up!!! TracyK - I am so very sorry about your nephew! That really breaks my heart. My boss has a son with a seizure disorder and he is in a group home and doing very well. Unfortunately it is extremely expensive. I cannot imagine the grief your sister (and all your family) must be experiencing. If something like that happened to my precious nephew I'd go crazy! Kat - I'm trying not to worry....but you're not helping!! When are you going to know the results of these tests? Jenn - Obviously there IS work in other towns as our fellow violets attest!... would you ever consider relocating? Sounds like your town just doesn't have any work! What's the dang deal?

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

A husband and wife were scheduled to attend a Halloween party. The wife got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the Halloween party alone. He, being a devoted husband, protested, But she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his good time to be spoiled by her not going. So he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour, woke without pain, and as it was still early, decided to go to the party. As her husband didn't know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him. So she joined the party and soon spotted her husband in his costume, cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice 'chick' he could and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there. His wife went up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his new partner high and dry and devoted his time to her. She let him go as far as he wished, naturally, since he was her husband. After more drinks he finally whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed, so off they went to one of the cars and had passionate intercourse in the back seat. Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away and went home and put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make up for his outrageous behavior. She was sitting up reading when he came in, so she asked what kind of time he had. 'Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there.' Then she asked, 'Did you dance much?' He replied, I'll tell you; I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guy, so we went into the spare room and played poker all evening. 'You must have looked really silly wearing that costume playing poker all night!' she said with unashamed sarcasm. To which the husband replied, 'Actually, I gave my costume to your brother, apparently he had the time of his life'.

WOO HOO!!! I just won an auction for a Body Bugg!! A new gizmo! $230!! Ok, I just calculated it and so far this weight loss journey has cost me roughly $477/pound lost! Remind me never to do this calculation again!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

The body bugg does not calculate what calories you put IN....you do that thru the food input database on their website (like dailyplate.com) but the bugg does calculate how much energy (calories) you've expended during the day and I believe it does it by your pulse and body temp...things like that...in addition to information you've given on your profile. There is a monthly service fee also. There is a body bugg thread in the exercise forum with lots of info.

Pamela - I totally want a Body Bugg and have been shopping on Ebay for one....I refuse to pay $350!!! I can maybe get one for $225-250 if I"m lucky. However, if you don't like using Daily Plate or Fitday, you probably won't like Body Bugg (from what I hear)....that the food data interface is "hard to use". Just something for you to research and think about. I figure I can get away with wearing one more easily now that the cooler weather is coming and I 'll be wearing more sleeves.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good Morning Sweeties! Well, it's Monday -- another opportunity to START OVER! Laura, I'm like you dear...I grazed all weekend...and my weekend was 3 days long! I made the mistake of buying some cookies "for the kids" :car: and ended up eating about 10 of them myself! I always dream of being retired but I tell ya, it's a good thing I'm not. I'm always grateful for the work week and the more strict environment it affords....I always have my water (Propel) right here, I keep healthy foods in the fridge and I stay busy. I weighed 186.6 this morning and I am just not a happy camper at all. :car: Oh, and I can't eat shrimp at all either!! Crab is ok. Who pledges with me to track every single calorie that goes into their mouth this week? We have to report in at the end of every day! Pamela - Girl, you sound sick like a dog!!! I"m glad you took the day off...there's no point going in sick. Just makes things worse! Gina - no need to apologize...always glad to see you! WAY TO GO on reaching your new milestone!! That feels so awesome...I seem to remember something about that!? LOL Kat - DANG that sure was a load of stuff you got for $15!!!! I got some beading done yesterday but the project is going to be a slow one...but fun!! It's so frustrating when I can't find a component I want, though. I spent probably 2+ hours looking online and in hardware and craft stores for a 1/2" antique brass O-ring. I finally found some on Ebay...I can get 100 of them from Hong Kong for $9!! LOL Anybody need one?? So then I researched how to oxidize raw brass and making the component myself. I have the brass sitting in a dish of vinegar now...LOL Hope it works. (Fun, huh??) Well, it keeps me off the streets.

TracyK -- When did you get to 197??? Last I remember we were celebrating 199.5!!! How the heck did you lose 2.5# since then??? DANG!!! We need some WWTD bracelets now! Oh yes, I've 'forgotten' that I have the band before...at least a couple of times. And always doing like you did...just popping something in my mouth as I pass. That is a bad habit that I would love to break. Michelle - BREATHE!!! It will all come together in a day or two...you know you have to make a mess to clean up a mess!! A week is a long time. It'll be great! Yesterday I filled up a pitcher with water (64 oz) just to see if I was drinking as much water as I thought I was during the day. I mean, I knew I had to kick it up but I thought I was around 40+ oz. without 'trying'...y'know? Well yesterday I really was trying to PUSH the water and I only drank 42 ounces!! What an eye-opener!!! So I'm doing it again today and see if I can do better. Jeez...that was pitiful. It's 10:30 though and I've only had coffee which doesn't count. Judy - sounds like you had a great time!! We were thinking about you!!!!
