Oh, and my gumbo was DELISH! I even got the rice down AND the chicken without a PB!!!! I haven't touched a bead or wire all day.:mad::wink: Haircuts for me & mom, lunch out, 3 loads of laundry, making gumbo, shopping for clothes for mom. Day's shot. Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow. Nighters everyone.

Laura...I can't even figure out if the TV show you're talking about is a REAL TV show or a virtual TV show. I'm soooooooooo confused!!!! I need a nap.
-
No, smyly...I've never had that problem. Maybe dig out your GasX strips from post op phase and finish those off! Congrats Laura and Pam!!! BIG BIG milestone!! Woooo hoooo!! I'm making Chicken Gumbo tonight...it's yummy! I buy the bottled roux and that makes the whole process virtually painless. I cook this 'by ear' so pardon the non-specific nature of this recipe: Heat up about 1.5 cup of roux in a heavy 5 qt pot. Add: 1 chopped onion 6 cloves garlic, chopped fine 4-5 stalks of celery, sliced 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped fine Add chicken pieces (1 whole chicken or equiv.) then cover with boiling water Add a bunch of Tony Cacheres cajun seasoning (1+ tbsp) Bring to a boil, then simmer for 2 hours or so skim foam as it appears Debone chicken (if it has bones), and cut into bitesize pieces Add chicken back to pot Let the gumbo "rest" for at least an hour Serve over cooked basmati rice Sprinkle each bowl with gumbo file' (you can add or substitute shrimp, crab, oysters and/or sausage)

NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
TerriDoodle replied to mdrai's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, I am really confused NOW!!! I am just catching up on 3 pages of posts....didnt realize this discussion was even going on! Yikes!! gimme a few.... -
You had an AWESOME DAY, Judy!!! You are my hero!! I'm so proud of you I could just dance naked like all those bananas. The thought of eating a chicken taco makes my throat close up and my eyes water!! The only thing I can safely eat at a Mexican restaurant is cheese enchiladas. See what I mean?? Crap! Tracy, I am seriously thinking about getting an unfill. I hate to do it, but it's getting quite ridiculous that I can't eat meat. Before I do that though, I'm going to try drinking hot tea before meals to loosen up the band. It's usually dinner that I have so many problems....which probably has to do with stress, feeding and cooking for mom after rushing home in traffic...that sort of thing. I guess I'm eating crap because of that stress too. I went to the store last night and (among other things) bought all the stuff to make bread pudding. Why the hell did I do that??? that is the burning question: WHY? I want my life back. I'm just so glad I can come here even though I'm not 'giving' very much lately....and only 'taking' from all of you. But I sure do need to be here, that's for sure. I do apologize for whining so much. Today is a beading day!!! Yipee!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi All....had a rough PB day today! Nothing is going down except crap. PB'd on fish and cauliflower tonite although bread (rolls) with butter and honey went down fine...as did the ice cream. Oy! Michelle - you have been soooo good!! losing 5# in December!! No many can say that! I canNOT keep my eyes open tonight. Gonna go nite-nite!! See ya in the morning!
-
Welcome Shannon!! yeah, I get my stuff at Target, too. The soreness is hell, isn't it?? Hang in there, it does get better! A hot bath is essential!! Kat - I'll be thinking of you today. Please be careful...I know you will. Of course we'll be praying for your dad! Keep us posted as you can! Cindy - LOL about the anniversary gift!! It's worth some serious consideration! He'd adore you for it! Mine would just die of a heart attack at the mere thought of it, so it's probably not a good idea for us. Pamela - Sorry for your woes today. Congrats to all of you who have continued to exercise or found their way back to it!! I'm getting there....but not there yet. I have decided to no longer cook these big dinners just because mom is there. Nobody in that house, including her, needs all that food. Just a protein and a veggie from now on!!! I've gotta get back on the horse.
-
uh.....no. Now that I'm taking care of Mom I'm using that as an excuse.
-
Haydee -- That IS interesting about your (ahem) discussion with dbf!! Kat is a very wise woman...I'll say it AGAIN! I think the more we treat them like children, the more stubborn they become. A little humility -- and lowering of the constant expectations -- goes a long way toward harmonious living. Lexapro helps, too.

I just wanna say thanks to you girls. I think I am 85% back on track and it's because if the inspiration that YOU ALL provide. I just want to see a new #%*&! number....is that so much to ask? It's not going to happen just because I WILL it to happen! So far I've had a very good food day...and i am proud of myself!
-
Mos' def' Tracy....let's try to meet up! Could we meet in Webster somewhere? Would that be convenient for you? I can just hop on the tollway and cruise!
-
DAMN! That's quite a jump, Tracy!! My last fills I got +0.2cc, then -0.1cc (taken out)...and I tell you that 0.1cc made a BIG difference! Just be careful over the next few days....my restriction always sneaks up on me! Wish I could have met you over there...that would have been so cool! I'm scared to go for a fill....I can't eat meat as it is!
-
I wish I was so uninhibited!! What fun!
-
Judy! I'd be happy to make anything you like, anytime you like. Well, within my abilities, of course! Ahem. You are a jewelry-aholic, aren't you!? You are so hysterically funny. I love having you here. Haydee - Yes, you can make it in gold. The 'blanks' might be kinda hard to find, but it could be done. I know for sure you can get gold-filled blanks at Beaducation: Jewelry Classes When You Want, Where You Want which is where I get my stamping supplies. You could come over one day and just use my tools....otherwise you'd have to spend $75 just for those! Then, if you like it (and you will), you can buy your own set. That website is great....has online lessons for all kinds of things beady.
-
NO, JUDY!!! STAY AWAY FROM THE EGGS!!!! STAY VERY VERY FAR AWAY!!!!
-
Tracy!!!! You are AMAZING!!!! Ok, tell me again....what is your typical food for a day. Nothing like mine, I know that already!!
-
Wow Gina!! What a blow!! I take it he is no longer alive?? Or is he? Has he answered your questions? What about your mom? I can only imagine what a freaky situation that has created! My father died in an accident when I was 8. When i was 21 my mother told me what he was really like since I didn't remember that much. Man, what an eye opener that was and I've never felt the same about him since. Whatever affection I felt was gone. Poof. All in one night. Kinda turns your world upside down, eh?! I'm sorry. I AM very glad to see you back....thanks for checking in!
-
HI HAYDEE!! We've been wondering where you are!! Sorry to hear about your grandmother I almost called you this morning on my way in to work!
-
BTW, girlz.... I asked the admin to close and lock the other thread. We can have some kind of ceremony when that is done. LOL

This is so true, Michelle (and JENN!) Where is that Momma Bear??? SCREW HIM!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr!!! Sorry, but deadbeat dads are my huge pet peeve!! He doesn't even have relationships with them, for cryin' out loud! Accident or no accident, he knows he has children and they are HIS responsibility as much as they are yours. PERIOD. One thing IS good about going to court...he will have to get caught up on his back-support that he owes you for sure. The judge may allow him temporary reduced support, but make it clear that you want to come back after his settlement to have in increased again. Yes, you definitely need a lawyer. -

Michelle - departures after 6:00p are not gonna be feasible for people like Pammy....we'll have to figure out something different for her...she's gotta get to WORK the next day....with MIDDLE SCHOOLERS! Have mercy on her! We'll have more than one rent car, so we'll figure it out. There will be early-middle-and-late departures, I'm sure. Tracy - Yes, dear...of course we'll be flying together and I'll take care of everything! I wish you were applying to the BP headquarters office....they are about 1/2 mile from my office! Hey, and by the way, asking for specific days off when you apply for/accept a job is perfectly acceptable! Especially when you have as much experience as you do! Don't underestimate your value! If they want you, a couple of days off one way or the other shouldn't be a problem at all for them. Also, make sure you negotiate for at LEAST 3 weeks vacation, if not more. I'm off to make dinner too....... laterz! -

Pammy, Because of the time change you're gonna be hard pressed to get to Washington before 4:30p or so. How do you feel about red-eye flights?? LOL -

Oh Gee....I didn't even notice ya'll were posting here! I'm IN. And I don't care where we stay as long as it has a deck and a chair....and a refrigerator for my wine. Which airport is best? Baltimore? I forget. I gotta fly Cont'l 'cause I'll be using FF miles. -

OH, and TracyKS -- I somehow totally missed your post about hitting ONEDERLAND and I scrolled back several pages to fiind it finally!! Jeez! Sweetheart, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. You have lost a TON of weight so far and I am incredibly proud and excited for you! You are going to be a BEAUTIFUL bride!!! Oh, and BTW...
