When I was a low-carber I used to make these all the time... 3 oz light creme cheese 1/2 c. crunchy Peanut Butter 3-4 scoops of vanilla or plain whey Protein powder dash of vanilla 6 pkts of splenda I used to microwave the cheese and PB just enough to get it soft, then mix with the other ingredients. Spray 8x8 dish with Pam then spread in bottom of pan. Refrigerate. These were more like a peanut butter treat than a protein bar and I would eat brownie size portions (2" x 3")....but they sure did curb my hunger! Also, it was a long time ago and I don't exactly remember the ingredient proportions so you might have to play with it a little.

Sam's carries a great brand of spinach/artichoke dip too. I'll have to try this, thanks!

Laura, why don't you call your homeowner's association? They can send him a notice. Didn't the cops ask for an address? How aggravating!! The neighborhood we used to live in was a nice one... 3000-5000 square footers....and for some reason attracted a lot of ...uh...foreigners. About 20% of the houses had crappy yards or concrete lions by the front door or 6 cars in the driveway. Drove me insane. Gay guys always have the posh houses because it's two MEN with two incomes. Men make more money! grrrrrr. Hey Crystal!!! Welcome to our little corner of LBT! Hang out with us...we're cool! :crying: Jane - Soooo glad to hear you are feeling better and got to sleep in! I can't remember the last time I slept that late! I wake up at 5:00a no matter what day it is! I have to make myself stay in bed 'til 7:00 on the weekends. Hope you had a nice day at your Aunt's! Pam, your weekend sounds nice!! Just a few more weeks 'til Susanne is moving in eh? Does she have to sell a house or anything? When does she move? We can start a new countdown! TracyK - I hope you enjoyed hiding those eggs for Macy. Those are the best years for holidays! My kids are too old for that now and I miss it. My son even had to work today!! We missed him. Ha! I made a double batch of banana pudding and there were 5 desserts today... my pudding was the only thing that got wiped out! LOL Everyone loves banana pudding, don't they? I had two helpings myself! I also had this great bundt cake...tasted like toll house cookies except it was cake. YUM. Ok, back to oatmeal and cottage cheese tomorrow! Yesterday I almost hit 179 (180.0) but today bounced back up to 181.4. It'd be awesome to see the 170's! Well, I'm gonna go moderate for a bit then head to bed. XOXO!!

Wow Haydee....the eggs sound so cool! What do you do with them (the confetti)? I took these pics this morning for my jewelry album...the last one shows what a freakin' mess my dining room is! thought you'd get a kick out of it! LOL Picasa Web Albums - Terry - March 2008

Happy Easter everyone....especially Denise, TracyinKS, Gina, Lunasa(Amanda), and Jenn....those who haven't been checking in much lately. I think about you guys all the time! HAPPY EASTER! Kat - That is such a scarey situation. Lindsey just seems so "ill"!...sorry to say it. I can only imagine what kind of child she will be by the time she's 14 or 15! OMG! Is there any mental illness in her family by chance? I'm not being cheeky...perfectly serious. Poor Manda...what a horrible situation. But she HAS to do what's right for her daughter PERIOD. Otherwise she'll regret it for the rest of her life. You know as well as I do that things don't generally improve after marriage. So sad. I hope your day gets better. I understand your feelings about doing all that work and trouble with MIL. The day is for YOU, too!! You're not the family slave! Maybe this is the year you should have a sit-down and explain your feelings....and get some darn help with these holiday dinners. It's only fair and I'm sure they'd all be glad to pitch in. Jane - you feeling better today? You didn't go eat pizza did you?!?! Yikes. Well, I gotta get in the kitchen myself to make some banana pudding. We're heading over to my brother-in-laws for a BBQ. His wife really dislikes me for some reason...she always treats me with a very cold shoulder. Well, feeling's mutual!! Yuck. Going to see my mom first though and when I talked to her last night she sounded horrible! One day she's up the next she's down. Ya'll have a great day!

The official list is, listed by roomies: Haydee & Michelle Judy & Pammy Terry, Laura and TracyK Tracy(KS) and Jenn Kat and Jane Judy - I don't think there'll be too much shopping to be had on a Sunday night. We'll figger something out.
-
Re: The ghost tour in San Antonio, Sunday night.... do ya'll want me to call to make 'reservations' or just play it by ear? I can't imagine that they ever have too many people....especially on a Sunday night?! I doubt if I'll go myself... definitely not my thing. I'll have nightmares for a week!

Hi Tracy - Funny thing is that it's not that you 'crave one so badly' ....it's just that you feel like you are strong enough to have 'just one'....and then another....and another. Before you know it you're buying a pack. (That's how I ruined my quit.) I can't tell you how many packs I bought and threw away after just taking one or two out of it. The absolute best rule of thumb is NOT ONE PUFF EVER (NOPE). Trust me when I say that before long you will only be thinking of cigarettes maybe once or twice a day...for a fleeting moment. Then there will be whole days that go by when you never think of them at all. You're doing great!!!! Just hang in there!! It keeps getting better and easier. (Does your sister live with a smoker? That's got to be the hardest thing ever.) Janie - Ugh! I'm so sorry you're sick!!! That's miserable! Hope you're much better today for your Saturday appts! Suzie - I'll send you all the black jelly beans I run across! YUCK!!! I'd rather have brussel sprouts than licorice! Funny how people's tastes are all so different. I have so many weaknesses I can't even list them all, but they ALL involve chocolate! Gotta have some every day. I have a very addictive personality (cigs, chocolate, Violets, beads, ....) I am lucky I am not an alcoholic, although there was a time when I was seriously close to it. Just grew out of it, I guess. Pammy - I am soooooooo jealous of your big screen! We want one badly but for some reason DH wants to "wait". We do have a surround sound system and it's freakin' awesome!! You'll love it!! Bose is the creme de la creme!! You'll never leave home! What movie did ya'll go see? We looked yesterday and couldn't find anything worth going for! We did almost go out to one movie (can't even remember what it was now) and I went to buy the tickets online and they were $10.50 each!!!! Are you freaking kidding me??? It would have cost $50+ for us all to get out of that theatre! We went to Blockbuster instead and got 4 movies for $17! and made our own popcorn! LOL I'll have to post a pic later of the necklace I finished yesterday... vewy cute. Just silver circles linked together. Ya'll just ignore the pics if you're tired of seeing them....I just get excited and want to share. I've only been beading for 2 years and the skills are developing rather slowly...so I still get excited when I create something new or learn a new technique. Sorry about that if ya'll are sick of it. Just ignore me. Ya'll have a great day! TTYL!

I wanted to post these nice, cheery, spring pictures for ya'll this morning... the azaleas are bloominig in my yard (and all over town!)
-
Yep!! Been there, done that!! LOL

Oh, you can all rest assured that I WILL have a glass or two of wine...maybe even three. Wine and girlfriends just go together in my world! 56 days!!! When did we start the count....100+ days?? See?! I told you it would go by fast.
-
this has been buggin' the hellouttame....what is "FWIW"?? Wah!! What about Wal-Mart doing these $4 generic Rx's!? Isn't this generic? Or maybe 'cause it's a 'pen'...but jeez-oh-man these drug costs are just out of control!! Well, if it makes you feel any better, my mother's drugs cost about $600/month....and that's WITH insurance! :faint: Where will you go in Mexico? Have you ever looked into it? I like the idea of having surgery then sitting in a lawn chair on the beach for recovery!! LOL I did actually think of going to Colorado...I bet they have some great plastic surgeons in Aspen!! That is an incredible story, Kat. What a great man. Every time I even think about Vietnam I get this sick feeling in my stomach. What a f'd up war. Well, I guess they're all f'd up, but that one in particular. Did you used to watch Six Feet Under when it was on HBO? That show did a lot for the 'funeral director industry', IMO. They are under-appreciated, for sure. Can you imagine what it must take to go to work every day dealing with nothing but grief, sadness and death? Wow. Suzie - I love to meet odd (and new) people, too. I think it's fascinating to imagine what they're world is like or how they grew up. I can't explain it very well, but until I was about 35 I just assumed that most people thought like I did, had the same values, etc. It sounds incredibly naive, but it's kinda true! What an idiot I was (am). Did I grow up in a bubble or WHAT?! Well, I'm looking forward to a quiet day at home for the most part today. I do need to pay a visit to my Mom. She and my sister got into a nasty argument the other day, can you believe that? My mother is laying in a nursing home fighting for every breath and my sister picks a fight with her??? My sister is a saint 75% of the time but when she goes off, she is El Bitcho Supremo. So I need to go and talk to mom and make sure that she is 'being heard', y'know? She has some decisions to make about her health care and rehab goals...and to discuss her options. My sister just ended up bitching at her rather than listening to her. Horrible. Poor Mom. Ya'll have a good day. It's been such beautiful weather here...I wish I could send some to you snowbirds!

Laura, I'm so sorry I didn't bring out the dancing nanners for you last night. I was so tired I wasn't even thinking straight!! I'm so proud of you! I remember how you went thru a very rough patch thinking the band wasn't going to work for you and you were still eating quite a bit. I remember hoping and praying that something would turn around for you....you're so young and beautiful and deserved all the best ...AND NOW LOOK AT YOU!!! You are stunning! Even if you never lost another pound, you are drop-dead gorgeous and things are really coming together for you! Wow! What a difference a year makes, eh? CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 101# LOSS!!!! :waytogo::thumbsup::success1::eek6::party::success1: AWESOME!! :Banane21::shades_smile::Banane10::Banane08::Banane20::Banane51: INCREDIBLE!!! :Banane27::Banane27::Banane27::Banane27::Banane27::Banane27: YOU'RE AN INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US!!!

Here I am! I went to the plastic surgeon today, Haydee. Ok, first of all he was an awesome doctor. Rated one of the country's best plastic surgeons...so I have total confidence in him AND he was extremely nice and easy to talk to. Fancy-schmancy offices right in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. He said that my skin is aging prematurely and that yes, I probably should get some work done. (It's because I hit menopause SO early...at like 45. I never go out in the sun and I take very good care of my skin.) He gave me 3 options: Option I: A full face lift (yep! that's what I figured), brow lift (which is a separate procedure) and neck liposuction (for my double chin which is very apparent in profile). Recovery time 10-15 days. Option II: Brow lift, laser skin resurfacing on the lower part of my face, and botox injections. He said this will really firm up the skin and will be a good temporary measure until the time I want to do a facelift. 5-7 day recovery Option III: Blepheroplasty (eyelid surgery only), laser resurfacing and botox. 3-4 day recovery. I forgot to ask him about a tummy tuck. But I doubt I can afford that anyway, nor do I have the time off to dedicate to it. They're supposed to email me the prices for all this stuff...but I haven't gotten it yet. I think I'm going to go with Option II...or something like that. I have an appt with another doctor on April 4 who I'll bet is a lot cheaper (he's in the suburbs) but also comes highly recommended. I'll probably do this in early June or July. I was glad Richard went with me. He's very supportive and says I can do whatever I want....although he hasn't seen the bill yet! so we'll see. It's a STUNNING day here today so after the docs we went out to lunch in mid-town and I had a yummy ahi tuna dish and some crab bisque. Then we went to the grocery store and now I'm home finally! Pooped!! I'll BBL!!
-
OMG, ain't that the truth!! You would have been miserable! I'm so glad too!! More than 'so glad'!!

Sounds like a good sauce to put over anything!... broccolli and asparagus come to mind. Cauliflower is a good sub for Pasta. I've always heard that mascarpone cheese is delish and have never tried it! maybe i'll run over to allrecipes.com and search for recipes using that ingredient.

Self Payers/traveling Alone!!

You may want to change the title of your thread to more closely reflect your question.... that may help get the response you seek. "Going FL to MX (Ortiz)...anyone else?" Something like that? -
I would like to know

It's good that you called your doctor, but most likely you had some initial swelling after your fill and now it has subsided...that's common. Most likely you'll find that you'll be skating along thinking you have little restriction then BAM! you'll get stuck on some new food. Then it might happen again and again. So you may have more restriction than you realize right now...so continue to be careful and stick with the 'rules'! If, after 3-4 weeks, you still feel like you need more fill just call your doctor and schedule another one. It takes several adjustments before you get optimal restriction and it's best to proceed slowly.

(((((White))))) The feelings that come up for me when reading your post is that I am so proud of you for biting the bullet and seeing a counselor. I know it can be a very unpleasant way to spend those hard-earned dollars but if you can see a little progress already that's a very good sign. I know that 10 years later I still hear the voice of my counselor in my head (no, not those kind of voices! tee hee), and am so grateful that I was 'brave' enough to admit I needed help. It helped me not only then, but continues to help throughout my life. You've also done another huge thing by coming here for support! You really should try to make a habit of checking in. Great group of people here. We are blessed! Best of luck to you and I look forward to following your progress!!

Ok! Well today is plastic surgery consultation day!! DH and I are both going in to talk about an eyelid job (blepheroplasty) which is covered by my insurance. The criteria we meet is that our eyelids are so heavy that they rest on the eyelashes. I can't wait to have this done!! I used to have such big bright eyes and they're horrible now! I also can't wait to see what else I might have done while I'm under the knife. Brow lift? Neck lipo? Fat implants in my cheeks?? I wouldn't be surprised if he recommended a facelift but I don't think I'm ready for that. We'll see. Like Laura said, growing old gracefully is over-rated! I even, for a short while yesterday, allowed myself to fantasize about a tummy tuck. Even when I was in college and weighed 130 I had a tummy!! So you can imagine, after 2 kids, that it is my biggest trouble spot. I could make that all magically go away...but I don't know if I care about it that much (meaning $5,000 worth or whatever it costs). I'm working on an all-silver necklace that's about 1/3 of the way done so I'll be pounding metal this afternoon. (Yea!) Oh darn, I need to go to the grocery store, too. I hate going to the store. Grrrr. These kids go thru some food, letmetellya. TTYL!!
-
OMG, I thought the same thing! I did spew my coffee when I read this (Kat has the strangest cast of characters in her world) and had to read it back to my daughter. She and I laughed about it all day! We were saying (in our best gay-effeminate voice and flapping our hands), "Oh my gawd!! He is SO dead! I'll do the makeup but enbalming just creeps me OUT!!" Suzie, that is so awesome!!! You are losing at such a great, steady pace!! That's the ticket, girl! I take it you don't own a scale and just weigh at the doctors. How much have you lost altogether?? You should be so proud of yourself....REALLY!!!! Yeah! Jump on in anytime! Welcome!

Watching what I eat is getting harder for me

Watching what I eat is getting harder for me
TerriDoodle replied to blj5362's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shortgal, this is seriously not meant to offend you in any way!! .... but most veteran bandsters know what we need to do (like detox from carbs) but it's the mind games that we have to conquer. What are the little mind tricks that you play with yourself to stay on track? How do you refresh your motivation? How do you get back to the gym? How do you form new, better habits? After the honeymoon phase, things get a tad bit harder...in more ways than one! That being said....those ARE great tips you gave! Keep up the good work and thanks for supporting your fellow bandsters here at LBT!!!
