Here's a place that custom engraves medic alert jewelry: Custom Medical Alert Bracelets Stylish Beaded and Engraved Free - Home You probably should ask your doctor what info should be on there, but for sure you need "Gastric (or Lap) Band, No blind NG tube" I don't have a bracelet or tag, but I do carry a card in my wallet with that info.

Worst dieting experience EVER...
TerriDoodle replied to celticdreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Something tells me that it has much more to do with the insurance requirements than it does the doctor or nutritionist! You wouldn't believe how screwed up our insurance/health care is here, Jacqui! Celtic, I'm just glad that it's all over for you now....and you can re-join the living! Cool about the weight loss...but don't be discouraged when 5-8# of it comes back...and it will!! Ketosis has a diuretic affect on your body and when you add back the carbs the Water will come back too. This is not to say that you didn't lose any fat...I'm sure you did!...but probably not 13# worth. -
Squeezing Surgery into a Busy Schedule

Good luck to you!! -
Y'know those little ice cream sample spoons? The teeny tiny ones that hold about 1/4 of a tsp?? I read a newbie on here wondering where she could get some...that's what her doctor recommended she use for a guide on how big her bites should be!!! Uh....ok. I think I better go back to LapBand School!!! Actually, I do pretty well in general...but meat is sooooo tricky!! It's a crap shoot every time. I torched and pounded metal most of the day. I also took a nap...which I rarely do. That's it. Totally not a productive day in any real sense. And now I'm so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open. Sad. Nite-nite!!

how does the band impact social life?
TerriDoodle replied to newyorker33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a closet bandster...only a select few people know so that makes it a little more stressful to go out, but it doesn't stop me by any means. Nobody seems to notice, really, it's mostly in my head! I do have to be very careful about socializing and paying close attention to how/what I'm eating...I tend to PB in restaurants for some reason, and I hate doing that. Still....I would never trade my band for anything. It's all worth it. -
Suzie - Who the heck are the Bewitched Banders??? Where is your loyalty??? LOL
-
Well, tell him you want your damn money back!!! That'll get his attention! (NOT)
-
Yeah, but you don't understand....I get play by plays....highlights from every game he watches. This isn't just one team. You get in the car and the games are on the radio. You go in his study and the games are on. And I get highlights on all of it. I DO NOT CARE!!! Do I give him details about every single piece of jewelry I make or bead I buy....for an hour a day?? NO!!! But I might just start!!!:cursing::rolleyes2::cursing::cursing:

OMG. Between March Madness and the opening of baseball season I am going to LOSE MY MIND!!!! My DH is quite talkative anyway, (and I'm kinda quiet...gee, wonder why) but I get sports updates and highlights 2-3x a day!! I don't care about sports!!! Not in the slightest!!!! You'd think DH would know that after all these years. AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! And baseball is just beginning!! The man is a baseball FREAK. Its gonna be a very long summer. I love him anyway.

I want one of the expensive ones. :w00t: Yes, that IS good info, isn't it!? Oh, that would be so cool to get our PS consults on the same day!!! It'd be extra-cool if we could take a 1/2 day off and do lunch, etc.... Can you go to Fill Centers? Only doing fills one day a week is freakin' ridiculous. My doc has a 2 nurses that do fills....and one dedicated to doing ONLY fills all day, every day. Getting an appt. is never a problem at all....and he's got a zillion patients. I have only one....I MUST have a bowl of ice cream every night. Yes, Laura...that does make you sound crazy. (j/k!!!) It also makes you sound VERY busy!!! What it tells me is that you have a very sharp mind!! I could never keep up with all that 'data'!! I've always been fascinated with OC behaviors.... they're pretty harmless unless they disrupt your life (kinda like the Bobster's). My friend's daughter can't get thru her homework because everything has to look so perfect....it takes her hours and hours. Test day requires all kinds of special accommodations for her. But the child is freakin' brilliant. Off the charts. Kat, I can't tell you how happy I am that you're better. We were out to dinner last night for DH's birthday, and as I was PBing my $40 dinner into the toilet I was thinking of you!! LOL  Seriously, though, .... I was wondering where you were at the moment and if you were feeling any better....whether you had to drive 6 hours or were in the hospital somewhere... Jewelry-making day today!! I have two more "orders"!!! Only 4,584 more orders and I might pay for all the supplies I have, then start making a profit! :rolleyes2:

Feeling Guilty!!
TerriDoodle replied to JadensMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, probably everyone on this board! On the other hand... should a diabetic feel guilty for taking insulin? Should a man with one leg feel guilty about wearing a prosthesis? Should a woman with high blood pressure feel guilty about taking medication? .... you get the idea.... -
Oh, MAN!!! That sucks in a big way! Do you think these kids have ANY inkling what we sacrifice for them??? Hell no. Tracy, i hope you salvage some part of your weekend! ...sure sounded fun there for a little while! I forgot to tell you that I have Dr. J Lo on my list for a facial PS consult! I keep meaning to call his office to set up the appt, just haven't done it yet. He's got awesome patient reviews! Oh GOSH! Does that bring back memories or what?? I remember being groggy like that ...couldn't breathe... and felt like I had a hot iron poker in my gut!!! Yeeowww!!! It took me hours to completely come out of the anesthesia. I couldn't stay awake!! Glad that's all behind me! Congrats to your sister!! She can be a violet now!! I'll bet she's excited! ... well, maybe not at this moment...but soon! Is she in Mexico?
-
Why, would you stalk me if I did???
-
Oh. Good Point. Maybe "normal" isn't the right word. Perhaps the word I'm looking for is NOT-SOCIOPATHIC. You are SO wise!! Especially that scouting thang! It's a full-time job for the whole famn damily! Glad my son was a misfit. Shhhhhh Ya'll!! We're scaring Tracy!!! :tongue_smilie: <--this is what I look like without makeup. THAT is scary.
-
(((Kat))) Please let us know how you're doing. gosh, who all is sick right now?? Kat, Haydee, TracyK, Laura ...Suzie and Jane are just starting to feel human again (right?)...Pam's back and forth to the Dr. ... What the heck is going on?? Makes me sad! I don't like being sad!! :waytogo: I did not do well today in the food dept. I'll spare you the details. Pam, It's a sign from God to go work on your DISSERATION! :tongue_smilie: Tracy, I live on oatmeal, cream of wheat, soups and ICE CREAM (nudge nudge wink wink) when I'm tight like that. It's a great excuse to have a shake from Jack in the Box....daily. I wanna call Kat. Should I?
-
Well, I have to SIT at my job for 9 hours today!! hmmmph! Lucky you!
-
Tracy, I think we just need to stop eating good food. I find that when the food is really good I want to over-stuff myself. :crying: Maybe we should just stick with....uh...canned turkey chili.
-
Well, i wanna make sure none of you are axe murderers first. If you are, then I'll probably have to rethink this whole 'Violets Rock' thing and go join the Shrinking Shamrocks or something. If ya'll turn out to be normal people like me  I'm all over it. :crying:

Shrink'n Violets TIP 'O THE DAY!!
TerriDoodle replied to Teachlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A recent study showed that thinking about what you ate at lunch before eating an afternoon snack resulted in an average 14-pound weight loss. That's how powerful simple awareness is. Such awareness is the best friend we can have in creating a new habit. It's like the pause button on the TV. With awareness, the impulse to behave in the old way arises and we get to decide what course of action we're going to take. What would be the outcome of yelling at my child? Am I going to be happy later if I drink this now? Will it help me to be more organized if I just throw this on the floor of my closet? This pause doesn't even take very long. Someone once told me it only takes a half second. It's all about pushing the pause button long enough to create freedom of choice. --M.J. Ryan, www.mj-ryan.com nb: This is the same principle that makes '100 calorie packs' so successful. Reaching the bottom of the bag forces you to pause then decide if you want more. 90% of the time (hopefully) you'll decide against opening another bag. Interesting, eh? -
I love Mr. Willy Nilly, too! But this is the guy who I most identify with--> :tt2: I dunno...I think we're just all gonna report on May 1st, I guess. I've got all the starting weights, but they're at the office. I'll give them to Laura....she's our statistician!

Tracy, I'd stick with warm fluids and mushies for as long as you think you need to...up to two weeks! My fills make me progressively tighter over that long of a period. Not this fill, but the one I had in September, was horrible at first and I kept irritating the hell out of it...which made it worse!!! This last fill I was prepared! I stayed on liquids and mushies (and small quantities!) for 2 full weeks and then I was fine introducing solids very slowly and carefully. I have a definite hard time getting cold fluids in in the morning...until I drink my coffee...then I'm ok. Pam, never having done a dissertation (!), what is so sucky about it?? Gosh, just think how great you'll feel when you're done!! We'll all just call you Dr.P.! Woooo Hooo!! Gruene Violets: I sent you all an email asking you to help me with a spreadsheet for travel arrangements. When you get a minute, please fill it in. Thanks!
