    Eating slow...

Practicing before surgery....especially NOT drinking....is very helpful. I suggest you keep at it!
  2. When I want to eat, I eat! The beauty of it is that i can be satisfied with an ounce of cheese to tide me over 'til mealtime! If you mean what do i do when i want to be "comforted" by a wheel-barrow full of food but can only get a small amount in? That is an issue that is better answered by a 'binger'.... but they'll probably tell you to get some counseling for those issues.

I still have "Eve" up there.... that's who I always think about when I see her. She's saying, "Hey! Wanna bite of this apple???" Then she uses the tape measure to snatch it away from you when you try to get a bite. Bitch.

A lot of people are not clear about what they should take for a cold and/or allergies. If you already have a cold and your head is full of junk you need to take a 'decongestant'...which will help your head drain. This is also why you need to drink lots of fluids when you have a cold....to keep the mucus from getting gunked up. (lovely visual) When you have allergies...like in the spring or fall...and you've just got the sniffles and itchy, watery eyes...then you take an 'anti-histamine' (like Benadryl or Claritin) to help ease the allergic reactions to the irritants. Laura, I can't see the pics from work :rolleyes2: I love horses...I'm just a bit afraid of them! But I think they are stunning animals. I even have a painting over my fireplace of 3 mustangs running in the desert. I never get tired of looking at it.

G'morning girliez- What a nice weekend i had! Weather was absolutely picture perfect, clear skies, highs in the mid-70's. Got to see my best friends, DH was out of town, kids are with their dad, no makeup all weekend, no grocery shopping,....just friends and beads and metal and house-hunting. Like i said... perfect! Now back to work. But the boss is gone all week! So my good luck continues! Pam - sure sounds like you are back in the swing of things! Glad you're feeling so good!! Tracy - There was a LOT of pollen blowing in the air yesterday. Sorry you're feeling so crummy. I took my mom outside for a little while and that wasn't too smart...but she really enjoyed the sunshine and I gave her a pedicure while she basked. Good service, eh? HAYDEE - I need to get my car detailed in the worst way. Got any coupons?? LOL How did your garage sale go this weekend? Jenn- When is your 2nd interview? We're crossing our fingers for you...again!!! Michelle - Sounds like you had a well-deserved treat with your mom. I'm happy for you! Suzie - I'm so jealous of your pool....paperwork or no paperwork. In about another month or two I'll be dying for some relief from the heat!! Ha... but it only lasts FIVE months!! Aaaack! Judy - Good luck with your fills and hope the highway angels are watching over you! See ya'll later!

TracyinKS - I'm sorry you are having these issues with DH. I can relate so much to what you're saying. Nothing pushes my Bitch Button faster than when I feel like someone is telling me what I can or cannot do!!! My DH has the same issue because his ex-wife just ran all over him for 20 years...and he was never able to effectively change the situation...and ended up divorced...which was very much against his belief system. Anyway...as a result after 7 years of marriage and our own struggles with these issues we have learned to give each other lots of freedom and independence. Y'know what they say...."if you love someone, set them free..." and it definitely works in our marriage. We do our own thing many times but enjoy each others company very much too. It's what I like best about our marriage. I guess what I'm trying to say is that DH and I both struggled with those insecurity, power and jealousy issues for many, many years....both together and in our previous marriages....and discovered the hard way that NOT asserting your independence will come back to bite you in the ass in a big way. The delicate ballet is how to achieve that independence without looking like you're trying to pull away!! Well, I'm rambling... Kahlil Gibran says it much, much better than I do: On Marriage You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

I'm gone for 2 days and you people just go on without me as if all is right with the world!? I had like 4 pages of posts to catch up on!!! First of all....Pammie...I'm glad you're home and it sounds as if you're resting pretty comfortably. (((HUgs)))) When are you scheduled to go back to work? Re: Spiders. Hmmm. Well, I am one of those people who doesn't kill bugs or spiders....I scoop them up in a dustpan and drop them outside. I don't like to kill anything!! I don't, however, have the same fuzzy feelings about cockroaches. I spray those suckers until they're drowning in it. As for the river... of all the times i've been there I've never seen a snake. You gotta remember that there are thousands of people on that river on any given weekend day and I feel pretty sure they just hang out under a rock and wait til dusk ...after all those crazy toobers have gone home. I do tend to stay away from the banks just for that reason....just in case. Snakes do scare the hell outta me. I grew up in Louisiana, across the street from the Vermillion River, and I saw my share of snakes to last a lifetime! I feel sorry for them.... they get a bad rap. The party was great fun and we pulled off the surprise part just perfectly. She was definitely surprised. But OMG!!! This house we went to was UNBELIEVABLE. They invite us down all the time but I've never gone before. Uh.... that's gonna change!! She is a gourmet cook and has a fabulous kitchen. They are wonderful, very sweet people...perfect hosts...I will definitely take them up on their next offer!! They live on the canal in the inland coastal area .... very close to where NASA is. I took these pics with my iPhone so they're not the best...but gives you a glimpse.

DAMN, Girlfriend!! The Wynn is one of the nicest hotels there is in Vegas!! Top shelf!!! They have a golf course and you have to be a guest to play....and it costs something like $400-500 a round!! My very rich friend stays there when she goes...I can't afford the place! If your meetings are all day, then I would suggest that DH take the Grand Canyon tour. He could catch a bus early in the a.m. and be home by 7:00ish (I think?). Just google "las vegas grand canyon tour" you'll get plent of hits. The Hoover Dam tour is really cool if he wants to get back earlier. It's probably only 4-5 hour RT. Very interesting story and very impressive to see. Otherwise, there's TONS of sports bars in the casinos....with 50 TV screens...where the people bet on all the sports. They have cushy couches and he'd be very comfy. Is he a pool guy? He could lay by the pool and watch all the hot babes!!...there's plenty of them! He could go to New York New York and play all the arcade games and ride the roller coaster on top of the hotel!! There's tons of stuff to do in Vegas....just tons.

Pammie - We love you honey, and you know that you've got all our positive energy around you for these next few days. Mmmmmuah! You'll be just fine! Michelle!! We'll just call you the Incredible Shrinking Violet!!!I better get to work on that jewelry! The 'contest' is almost half over!! Does Michelle's success get anyone motivated to get movin'??? Today is NFS day.... No Freakin' SUGAR!!! I'm gonna eat on plan today if it kills me. DAMMIT!!! Yesterday was such a bad day, i can't even tell ya. Went to my 1st metalsmithing class last night...so you know what that means!! A trip to the jewelers supply store today for MORE tools!! :huh2: I never knew I could get so excited about tools. Now I know how men feel. Well, at least about tools! TracyinKS.... OK, what is UP with you???? And don't just tell us you're busy. Something else is going on. Spill it. Suzie - Don't forget to take care of yourself, too. OK? Haydee - So do you get to keep the money from the stuff people dump at your house? I'm horrible at getting organized enough for a garage sale. Our neighborhood has them 2x/year...and Ive only managed to do one out of 7! And it's not that I don't have my share of junk!! Ya'll have a good day. Laterz.

    Advice? Going to file....

Keep in mind that hair tests will not detect or report Rx medications (I don't think). That's how my teen son got around it. (Thank goodness he's great now!) So if he's abusing Vicodin, I'm not sure that will get reported. I could be wrong.

Tracy - I hear you! I've toyed with the same thoughts too....going back to being less restricted but at least being able to eat healthier food. Let's see...I think my last fill was in the beginning of February...and I have been very tight most of this time. I do think my band is loosening up just a bit though so I'm going to tough it out a bit longer. I am really missing salads!! Kat - just think of all the things that cause headaches! It could be anything!! Your doctors are just being cautiously prudent...and that's a GOOD thing! My son was just complaining Sunday that he's woken up with a headache every day for a week. Dehydration, stress, clenched jaws, bad vision, allergies, new meds, too much computer work, change in barometric pressure, hormones, food additives and sensitivites,....blah blah blah!!! It could be any number of things! The probability of it being related to a tumor is way down the list. Michelle! Why are you still sick??!? Shouldn't you be better by now? Pammy - I'll be glad when this is over for you, too. Wish I was there to help you thru it...even if you are in the best of hands. Just know that we're all lovin' you. k? Hey!! I've got reason to Celebrate today!! We reached a performance threshhold at my company and we ALL get a 10% bonus!! Half of mine is going in the bank...the other half I'm going to spend on PS. I've decided to cut way back on my PS wish list, so that $ should cover it. Maybe. If we make the next hurdle we get a 40% bonus!!! Don't worry...I'll let you know if and when that happens! LOL

    Under 30 Spoiled Brats!!

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet . If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter .with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'a steroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was n o Cartoon Network eit h er! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .. imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980! Regards, The over 30 Crowd

Jane- Well, that's an experience you're not likely to forget anytime soon! I think it's great to get out of your comfort zone every so often.... especially if you can laugh while doing it! That makes me think of the time DH and I went to New Orleans (my first time). We were walking around the Quarter and it started raining cats and dogs. So we stopped in one little place and had lunch and a couple glasses of wine. Then the sun broke for a little while...then it started raining again! Well, we happened to be right in front of Pat O'Brien's and went inside there in the dark bar.... we ended up having the best time with this young couple for at least 2-3 hours and I probably drank 4 more glasses of wine! Well, by the time we left there I was schnockered and it was dark out but we were having a ball. We ducked into a strip joint because I had never been to one and now suddenly had all this liquid courage in me....and we were in New Orleans after all! I won't go into details here but let me just say THAT was an experience I will never forget! COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone, will probably never do it again, but OMG....what a fun night!! The hurricane hit N.O. the next year and we haven't been back. I don't think I could take the heartbreak. I loved that town.
