The best slots I ever played have been at the 4 Queens downtown Las Vegas. Not the fanciest casino but clean and nice....and good gambling. I told a friend about it recently and so she and her BF went and had a blast there! She said they sat at the bar, had free drinks and played poker on the slots for 4 hours on about $30! They then went across the street to the Nugget and lost $60 in about a half hour. What a sweetie. Good plan, Haydee. I'm proud of you. Wheee!! Make-up sex!!! :tt1::thumbup:

What beautiful pictures, Tracy!! Those are keepers for sure! Robby looks like a maniac. (I love, love, LOVE little boys!!) (NO!! Not that way!!) Haydee - We've been to LaBerge DuLac (or however its spelled)... we went for the day but couldn't afford the $500/night they wanted for a freakin' room! $500/night in LAKE CHARLES?? We just laughed at them! I could fly to Vegas and stay at the Wynn for that! LOL Anyway...the pool is fantastic, golf course is very nice but the casino is crowded and expensive! High stakes blackjack and the slots are tight as hell. We left there and went to go dance at a zydeco club and had sooooooooo much fun!! Much more fun than than the casino!!

I will bring some alcohol just for emergencies and for the river if anyone is up for it on a Saturday morning! I'll bring vodka, tequila and a bit of coconut rum that TracyM requested; margarita mix, cranberry juice and tropical punch crystal light. Wherever we go, there's a bar within 50 yards, so i don't think anyone will have to suffer with the shakes for too long. You're not a poop!! To each his own!

TracyK - Since you have the fewest number in your car, can you bring an ice chest with a few drinks already iced down? If you don't have one, I can bring mine... I'd just hate to have someone have to carry their suitcase in their lap all the way to Gruene! I'll have groceries and towels, too...so i'm getting nervous about the amount of room needed in my car. Not to mention that Jenn said she changes clothes "several" times per day! .... no telling HOW big her suitcase is!!?! LOL

Oh, and stay the hell away from DH!!!!

GET TO THE DOCTOR TODAY. Here are the symptoms from the Mayo Clinic website: Redness in one or both eyes Itchiness in one or both eyes Blurred vision and sensitivity to light A gritty feeling in one or both eyes A discharge in one or both eyes that forms a crust during the night Tearing The thing is, Pink Eye gets so bad SO fast....you really need to jump on it early.

Man, that would have ticked me off, too, Kat!!! People are so STUPID sometimes!!! On Mother's Day?!? Poor Rick...I'm sure he did feel bad and quite awkward. He's too nice to just ask them to leave...but KAT! You could have done it!! LOL I wish you would have...they deserved that! How rude! Musta been raised by wolves. Michelle you are hilarious!! You seriously crack me up. (((Pammy))) Thanks... I did enjoy my day with Mom. When I'm dragging ass and don't feel like going to the hospital or nursing home, I always remind myself that these are my last days with her and I should enjoy every moment. And when I finally get there, I am much better and happy to be there. I just havent seen very much of my DH in the last week or two! My teenage kids are narcissistic and egocentric twits. But I love them with all my heart. I don't allow DH to 'prompt' them to buy cards and gifts for me....I just see what they do left to their own devices. As a result, I rarely get those treats. In their defense, however, they are wonderful to me every day of the year...do whatever I ask, don't argue with me often, I get hugs and kisses all day long, and they tell me they love me about 10x a day....literally. I really shouldn't complain, eh? Gotta hit the showers. Be back later!

My favorite comedian is Ron White (know him? Blue Collar Comedy?) and he happens to be from Texas. He has a joke about death row in Texas: "Other states are trying to abolish the death penalty -- mine's putting in an express lane!" Don't Mess With Texas. Ever. Here's some other Ron White quotes, just to make you LOL in the morning! I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade. And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party. (Imitating his cousin, Ray, about hunting) "well, it was four in the mornin. 22 degrees outside. 'Course you weren't there. Pussy. I'm in a camouflage deer blind, i got grease paint on my face. I had deer urine on my boots -- I'm not sure why -- (as himself) I made that part up. (returns to imitating Ray) I've got a thirty-aught six rifle that can fire a bullet at 2500 feet per second. When that deer looked up ta' lick the salt lick I'd hung from the danged ol' tree, I caught him right above the eye." And I'm going, "Yeah? Well I hit one with a van. Going 55 miles an hour, with the headlights on and the horn blowin'!" Woo, that's an elusive little creature! If you ever miss one, it's because the bullet's moving too fast. I'll tell you what; slow the bullet down to 55 miles an hour, put some headlights and a little horn on it, the deer will actually jump in front of the bullet! I have two dogs , named Birdie and Bogey. The other day some guy said that nice you named them after your golf game. I said, no if they were named after my golf game there names would be, "double bogey" and "Where the fuck is that ball going?" HA! Any day you start off laughing until you cry is gonna be a GOOD day. Oh, I love Ron White.

Kat, do you have Ross or Marshall's there? They have great deals on wallets...nice ones, too! I spent the day in my car mostly! Gotta love Houston! I put 90 miles on that baby today. Just now getting home from the hospital...Mom looks good. The prayers are working!

I don't care WHAT you wear....as long as you are comfortable with yourself. That's what I say!!! Life is toooooo short to worry about what other people think. So there.
-
Uh.... correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the doctor tell you to NOT walk on that foot??? hmmmm????? Well, at least you had a good day! Sounds fun! I vote for Keds but with the low-profile socks. I think they're cute! But I have never been able to wear them...they just don't fit me right. Uh, why can't you wear open-toes to work? Dress code or safety thing? If it's dress code, those guys need to move into the 21st century!! Lordy!

Thanks guys, ya'll are so sweet! I would cry for days if I couldn't go...and I don't cry often. All I can tell you at this point is that she seems fine! Well, at least no worse than she has been the last 2-3 weeks! The last time she was in the hospital I thought she would never make it out and she seems better now than she did then. My point is that I am amazed at what the doctors can do with tweaking her medication and getting her stronger again, so I am very hopeful. She's just so dang sick.... advanced COPD, congestive heart failure, and light pneumonia but with no fever. She's alert, relatively cheerful, color is good, strength is pretty good, oxygenation is good, BP is good. Amazing. I feel confident she'll be discharged...but her situation is sooooo delicate, it can change any minute. So anyway, that's the update. Thanks so much for your prayers. I love having you girls to talk to. It helps so much.

That made me smile . Thanks Pammy. I love you too!!!

Ok, now working with someone like that would freak me out. Her poor kids!! Dr. Phil had a show similar to this recently and although it was really gross, it was interesting to see what makes people like that tick. On the show the lady's life was just kind of spiraling downwards...one thing after another...and it was her way of 'controlling' things. She had 4 refrigerators, 2 freezers, ice chests and her car full of food....most of it rotting. She never threw anything away. If you never throw anything away, there's only one place to put everything! Crazy, man, crazy! Makes me feel so happy to be 'normal'...LOL!! Laura, did you clean your house because of that story?? That'll motivate you, won't it!? Glad your tooth (or lack thereof) is doing good.

Why do I suddenly feel jealous?? Like ya'll get to go on this trip and I don't?? Maybe I'm just afraid to get excited only to be let down now. Waaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

I remember asking a spiritual teacher a long time ago, "But WHY does he act this way...Why do I stay with him??...etc..." And her answer was, "It doesn't matter WHY. It won't help to make you feel better if you understand WHY. All you have to do is know HOW to move forward with your own life and goals." I bring that up because the quote above naturally begs the question, "Well WHY do I sabotage myself? WHY do I make such bad choices over and over again?" See, that takes a lot of energy to figure out WHY, when it doesn't really serve any purpose! We know HOW to move forward (no crap in the house for ONE!) and our goal is to love ourselves with health, not with food! We know HOW to get there.... let's just honor ourselves enough to make loving choices!

Tracy - thanks for asking. Mom is cranky...which I understand is a good (?) sign. They're running a bunch o' tests, so i guess we'll know more today or tomorrow. FYI, girls.... with all this heart trouble my mother has had (among other things) she has never once complained of chest pain. But she OFTEN complains of back pain between her shoulder blades. They say that women experience heart problems much more differently than men.

Michelle - I read this 'magazine' article about that very thing here on LBT. Here's an exerpt...see if it strikes a nerve for you: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f197/reclaiming-your-power-over-food-62338/#post831527 "...I encourage you to take the risk to experience the feelings of not giving in to the compulsion to eat when you are not physically hungry. You can always go back to the old way of living, just experience it and see what it feels like. You might just like it, then again it might be scary, just notice. When I have a client sitting in front of me struggling to reclaim their lives from compulsive eating, I often get an image of them holding onto a ledge of a mountain, high up in the air. They are “white knuckling it” to hang on, then they take the risk and “let go”. I then have the vision of them falling through darkness, and I actually experience this in my body. I get a nervous sensation and a feeling like my stomach is dropping, and for a moment, I lose my breath. Then all of a sudden I experience a calm, the tension in my body leaves, I am able to breathe, there is light, and I experience a glimpse of what I believe paradise to be, something that is difficult to describe in words. To know this sensation of paradise, I now understand that it comes from the willingness to go through the darkness in order to experience the light. We are faced with decisions every moment of every day. We are always faced with the decisions of what to think, how to feel about what we think and what to do about that feeling. Because of the work that I do and because of my desire to grow emotionally and spiritually, I am very conscious of my thoughts and actions. As I stated earlier, I sometimes astound myself at how many times I do not choose to think or act in a way that supports my highest good. However, I have also noticed that by putting my attention to wanting to live in a way that is loving and respectful to myself and others, I make many more choices that are self-loving than I have in the past. I trust that the number of self-nurturing choices that I make for myself will continue to increase because I have come to realize that keeping my word to myself feels better than eating a cookie or engaging in negative thinking....."

Having Second Thoughts - Need Advice
TerriDoodle replied to AmyJoy510's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having second thoughts is perfectly natural, of course. And there's still time to change your mind. Perhaps making a list of pros & cons again will help you decide. If the pros win, then just push through your fear and keep putting one foot in front of the other until it's done. As with boredyru (above), rest assured you will go thru a period of "What the hell have i done to myself??" right after surgery as well. Knowing this going in will help. Look at the hundreds and hundreds of users here that all say I LOVE MY BAND!!!.... Hmmm. I wonder why they say that??? -
How about something from Brighton? I love their keychains or their little mini-frames! so cute! I also love sachets!
-
Tracy, I think the tuna I use is StarKist...maybe it's bumblebee...can't remember...but it's called Sweet & Spicy flavor and it's in a foil pouch. It's delish!!! I just add a little mayo and I"m good to go. It's great on salads, too! I don't know about the 'sweet' part...might have carbs. :-/

Tracy - there is a GREAT t-shirt shop in Gruene!! Hilarious shirts!...and touristy ones, too. Thanks for your prayers, girlz. If ever there was a time....!!! Judy, get the Bobster working on it! I hear he's got connections!
-
HAYDEE - Did you get the map links i sent to your email?
-
Oh, for those of you who have connecting flights: If your first flight is running late and you miss your connection...you go straight to any flight desk and see what they can do to get you another connection ON ANY AIRLINE. They will try to connect you on one of their flights but if the schedule is not convenient you are allowed to raise hell and make them pay for a ticket on another airline. Especially if you have plans like these where there are 'deadlines' to meet.
