Tracy - the uniforms really are a blessing! I wish my kids had to wear them!!! Oh the struggles with what to wear are all gone!! And especially as they get older and the 'labels' become so important....it's ridiculous! I had to wear uniforms up until 8th grade and my mom had the same problem you're having...she had to alter the uniforms like crazy to make them fit me but fortunately was an expert seamstress. It is ridiculous how much fabric costs, isn't it? Cheaper just to buy the dang clothes (when you can)!

G'morning everyone! Well, I trust Michelle was so pooped from her day she wasn't able to even check in. I hope she had lots of sales! Michelle - I have an idea what you can do with the $$ -- save it for our next Violet trip! Speaking of which, how about a beach cabin for our next trip! Doesn't that sound fun? I'm certainly familiar with Texas beaches but Galveston is kinda nasty....the silt from the Mississippi River drifts over this way and the Water is pretty murky. During May you have the added bonus of jellyfish mating season. Yum. Farther south is Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and then all the way to the tip of Texas is beautiful S. Padre Island. They're all nice, but harder to get to. OH!!! Maybe we should all just go to Cancun!! Or Florida? I've never been to Destin....have any of you? What about east coast beaches? I haven't a clue about the east. Always wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg, too. It's time we started throwing out some ideas, eh? Gruene will always be here for you, of course! And my beloved Colorado. Ahhhh. You can sure get some nice big houses for pretty darn cheap during May, being the off season. I am always game for Colorado. Has anyone researched cruises? Carnival is the only line leaving from Galveston that time of year and I've heard to stay away from Carnival cruises, so that's where my research ended. What other port makes sense for us? Judy, you usually sail from Miami, or where? Maybe NYC? Good airline hub for everyone. Yeah, you can tell I'm dreaming today.... We went to a friend's for dinner last night ....the ones who own two condos in Steamboat (!). The other couple there announced their engagement (very exciting news) and are also planning a trip to Pagosa Springs and Lake City, CO...I am so freaking jealous. I finished your silver bracelet yesterday, Pammy...and your earrings, Jane. They'll be in the mail tomorrow! Today all I have to do is visit Mom at some point and the rest of the day is my own. Yippeeee!! I have Monday and Tuesday off as well as vacation days. $10 to anyone who can guess what I'll be doing! XOXOX! Miss you guys!!!!!

Oh Pamela, the HDTV is just incredible! One reason we got it when we did was so we could watch the olympics in all its glory. I can't wait! The shots of China should be incredible. That country has always intrigued me. How do I get a wife like yours?? A nice, energetic, uber-organized wife? That is like the polar-freakin'-opposite of my DH. OMG. Kat - Although I'd like to go on the field trip, I don't think I will be. Anything that goes wrong I can fix from here, so there's really no need. HA! I go to my PS today also for B&A pics and a follow up. I hope you're going to ask yours to email the photos to you so we can post them!!?? 8/8/08. 8's my UNlucky number!! I should just stay home today! I have the day off but have to go in for a little while this afternoon Speaking of weird dates....My son is going to be 18 on 8/18/08.

Hi All! Welcome home, Laura!! Before I head over to Laura's blog, just wanted to say Hi and G'night! First time I even got to check in today. Work is just so freakin' busy it's starting to freak me out!!! I'm arranging a geological field trip for 28 people from all around the country going to Grand Junction, CO and Moab, Utah! It took me about 1.5 hours to figure out how to get folks from Charleston, WV to Grand Junction and home again. Other groups coming from Calgary, Houston, Casper, and Denver. (See, the Violet trip was right up my alley!) Gotta go in on my day OFF (?) tomorrow to figure out the other groups and get emails out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! After that went to the "holiday extravaganza' at the hotel where we're having our Xmas party, which I am in charge of. New place this year...OMG...panic city!!! The food samples tonight were NOT good at all. And the prices were absolutely ridiculous. I'm thinking of pulling the plug on this place and starting over again. SHIT!! So.......anyway......... sorry I haven't been around. But, boy am I cranky! Need a Violet fix in the worst way....preferably sitting on a big deck of a big ol' house in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. I'm falling asleep typing. I gotta go hit the hay, girls. Love you all! Nitey night!

I have occassional back pain that won't get better very quickly unless I take ibuprofen! I just take 4-5 tsp. at a time. I understand why we can't take ibuprofen pills, but I figured the liquid was OK. Does anyone else use this occassionally?
-
Yep, I'm here! ...still in my jammies since they closed my office today! I'll bet my bosses are grumbling since it's just barely sprinkling out there so far this morning. I so deserve this extra day off. I've been working my ass off for 3 weeks and stress at home and with my mom have just pushed me to the edge of sanity. It's times like these that I understand the benefit of taking Lexapro, but I am managing without it alright. Oh, I did weigh in at 181 today...2# loss since starting the piehole reports! Pam - what are ya'll having to do NOW for S's retirement!? That retirement processing seems to go on forever! Doesn't surprise me, though....that's the gov't for you. I better get to work on my jewelry orders...they're getting backed up!
-
Pammy -- What's wrong?? :cool2: Tracy - I've got an ice chest full of ice, baggies of water in the freezer, loads of bottled water, water in the tubs and sinks, first aid kit, medications, and pop tarts. I'm good to go. Thankfully we don't have to evacuate, eh?? What a nightmare that was for Hurricane Rita, eh? UGH!
-
Michelle -- your vet makes house calls??? Cool!! You do get to have all the fun.... but at least you are home and not stuck behind a desk from 7:00a-5:00p!!! TracyK - Lights going out?? OMG. I can't even imagine being without air conditioning in this weather!! How did our grandmothers do it????? I think about that all the time! Living on a farm, baking bread, scrubbing floors, cooking for 10 people 3x a day, laundry, .....UGH!!....all with no air conditioning?? It boggles the mind. No wonder my grandmother died a bitter woman!

Sounds fishy to me, Suzie. Send an email or call your anti-virus vendor and ask them to verify.

(((Pamela))) I'm so sorry, honey. I wish I could make it all better for you. My dad died when I was 8 years old in a private plane crash. Went to see my mom this evening and the nurse reported that she weighs 125 now... that's down from 146 just a month ago. I've been running around a lot this weekend but can't even tell you what I did....just don't feel like I accomplished much of anything! I did start on your silver bracelet, Pammy. I'm about halfway through that one. Piehole report for today isn't pretty: B: cottage cheese/blueberries/granola L: fried chicken thigh and wing, couple of spoonfuls of RB& rice, a few bites of corn, 2 peanut butter cookies D: a vanilla shake from JIB and a handful of cashews. bleh. Totals: 1,777 calories 59g protein Wonder what Laura's doing right now? I seriously don't feel like working tomorrow...but it'll be a short week (friday's my day off) so maybe that'll keep me going. TracyK - Tropical storm?? I really should watch the news more often than 2x a year, eh?
-
Tracy, I'm gonna come kick your ass. Seriously. YOU HAVE QUIT SMOKING!!!!!! Gee, don't you give yourself credit for that??!?!? Whenever you beat yourself up about the weight, can you try to remember that?? You knew going in that you would most likely gain quite a bit of weight by not smoking. You knew that. It's upsetting but it is what it is. Big deal. At least you're not a 275# smoker anymore!!! So, stop that self-flagellation and take a deep breath. It's time to make a few adjustments, that's all. Remember, you don't have ciggies to depend on when you're stressed out, bored, hungry, etc. and you will make the mental adjustments sooner or later. Be patient with yourself....LOVE yourself....for what you have done for you AND your family. Remember, that your body responds to those tape loops you play in your head all the time. Practice self-love, appreciation and kindness. Be as kind to yourself as you would to a violet in the same position. That is not to say you will reward yourself with a trip to DQ!!....but you will give yourself a hug, forgive yourself, and try to do better tomorrow. It's all good. You're learning how to cope with life in whole new way. It's a lot to ask....to undo 40+ years of 'training' in one short year. You can do it, it may just take longer than you would like. But you are STRONG and you WILL do it eventually. One day at a time and when you falter, know that tomorrow you will try again. But the most important part is to love yourself enough to succeed. No matter what, you are FAR FAR healthier today than you were 1-1/2 years ago, right? Is that not incredible progress?? Hmmmm??? Where is the love and appreciation for Tracy for accomplishing all that?? Take a deep breath and give yourself a big ol' hug right now. You're doing FANTASTIC!!!:thumbup:

Laura, how in the heck did you do a 5-page paper in an hour??? Yeah, here I am Tracy! I finally finished hell week at work and haven't had much time to log on. Went to visit mom, too. I had a seriously crappy food day...I don't even know if I can list everything I ate. B: same ol' cottage cheese L: 1/2 of JIB Asian chicken salad S: snack bar size Kit Kat, Hershey's and Reeses S#2: tortilla chips salsa D: French onion soup & sourdough bread S#3: bowl of cereal A bazillion calories and 2 bazillion carbs and 4g protein. :cursing:
-
Uh, I would log exercise if I HAD ANY TO LOG!!!!!!!!! Where is that gym nazi when you need her?? I looked at my weight chart this morning and, as if I needed the chart to tell me, my weight plateaued the day I stopped exercising. Haven't lost anything meaningful since then. Is that enough to get me back there? Apparently not.
-
How frustrating Laura!! She probably totally forgot...so then what?!? Piehole report: B: cottage cheese/strawberries/coffee L: Beef fajita tostada (x2) D: Salad bar at Jason's, frozen yogurt 1450 calories
-
Gosh, Laura -- why won't they call her back?!? That's SO unprofessional!! ...not to mention downright rude! Hmmmph! Haydee - I'm glad you and Juan are working things out....as long as it's what you want! Sounds like you both learned a lot. You deserve the very best, just don't forget it! I've been meaning to ask you...how's your sister doing with her weight loss? How's she liking her band?
-
Pam, if you can get to a ruler you're still OK! Just get a ribbon or strip of paper, wrap it around your wrist, mark it, then measure it! Haydee -- Has Juan moved back in????
-
Suzie...you want us to draw names for our Christmas exchange??? Piehole report: B: cottage cheese (the usual) L: tilapia, slaw, plantain chips, pineapple salsa S: a few M&M's, then tortilla chips & more salsa (man that stuff is good!) D: very little chicken salad (2 oz), 1 oz havarti cheese 1200 calories for the day and only 36g protein! Ack! Haydee -- have you ever eaten at Cafe Red Onion? We'll have to go there next time we meet...it's so yummy.
-
Pam -- You might check with your local women's shelters see if they can use those things.
-
I just read a post by a newbie (banded early-July)...49 yrs old, 215# (same as me when I got banded)...and said she wanted to be 120# in a year. Oh, but she just can't seem to get to the gym.... blah blah blah. I wanted to pop in so bad and say "Oh yeah!! I want to be 120# too!! When you find the magic wand, pass it my way!" I didn't, but I wanted to!!
-
Finished putting in my stuff on daily plate for yesterday.... Had 1300 calories for the day and 57g protein. Not great, but surely an improvement.
-
Kat, if you go clean that house I"m going to personally come kick your ass. You do stuff for them ALL YEAR LONG!!!! She has got to be kidding!!! I think I would find some LAME excuse to beg off. But then she'll probably just rope Rick into it instead! Jane, for the record, Haydee and I ordered different books. She sounds like textbook schizophrenic to me. Heavy coke use induces paranoia too. Saw it happen to my friends' husband (now ex)! Man, she has some strange stories!! Kat, I've had blood sugar issues (hypoglycemia) since I was 16. I don't know how long you've been dealing with yours, and different things work for different people, but mine is best controlled by eating low-carb and sugar-free everything! If I do eat sugar, it HAS TO BE along with a meal. Not eating at all is really, really bad for hypoglycemics. I have to eat something just about every 3 hours or so....even if it's just 1 oz. of cheese. Protein+fat are the best Snacks for me (cheese, Peanut Butter, nuts, SF Protein bars, etc). The fat keeps the protein from being digested too quickly which can screw up blood sugars just as easily as carbs under the right conditions. WHY ARE YOU NOT EATING?
-
Me, Me!! But I ordered that book called [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Shrink-Yourself-Emotional-Eating-Forever/dp/0470275375/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217366784&sr=1-1]"Shrink Yourself"[/ame] -- if anyone wants to join me reading it, I'd be pleased as punch! It hasn't arrived yet, probably won't for a week or more (Used copy, cheap shipping). It looks like everyone is doing better by reporting what goes into your piehole, eh? It's helping me! B: cottage cheese, berries, coffee+cream L: Salad w/ bits of sliced beef and bleu cheese + balsamic vinaigrette + flatbread :wink2: 761 calories so far

Woo hoo!! I sold some bracelets!! Pam, that square silver link needs to be a good fit....not tight, but a good fit. I can make another one, that's no problem....just need your wrist measurement. The tornado bracelet is awesome in person....you'll LOVE it!
