Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Josie -- 194!! That's a brand spanking new number isn't it??? Well, that just made my day!! Thank you for the encouragement. I was so stunned I didn't think to ask him who he recommends but I will see him again twice before he leaves so will ask him to introduce me. I was just so bummed. What gym do you go to again? -

If I have to miss for some reason I start to feel a little panicky. As if I"m going to gain 10# from missing a couple of days at the gym. I have to stop myself from getting in a tizzy over it and remind myself that no matter what, I'm still doing 100,000% better at exercise than I was in the old days. But that fear keeps me going back. I have to be honest and say that this past couple of weeks I have had to "make" myself go...but I was prepared for that....it's happened before. I know from experience that once I get there I'm fine so I just put one foot in front of the other until I walk thru the door. Then, even if I am not 100% and want to cut my workout a little short, I allow myself to do that. I usually make up for it on the weekends. -

Hi Josie!! I am not having a good day. My trainer told me last night he is moving to another gym on the other side of town. There's no way that any of the other trainers can compare to Rory. I am soooooo sad . Pfffffffffft. Yucky day here in H-town. -
Weren't you also denied by your insurance carrier like 3 or 4 times??? I'm tellin' ya...nobody deserves it more!! Congratulations!

I think that it is inevitable that at some point you will PB, slime or get stuck...but it probably won't be anytime soon. When you first start on solids I'm sure you'll be like me...I remember my first solid meal of fish and canned green Beans..... I took miniscule bites and chewed the h*ll out of it. It took me 45 minutes to eat about 1.5 oz of fish and 5 green beans! LOL Once you stick your toe in the Water like that and you realize you're not gonna die, every day gets easier. You'll be just fine. The one day you'll be extra hungry because you've waited too long to eat, or you're out with friends chatting and eating and not paying attention....and right away you'll realize you've taken too big of a bite. It happens to everyone sooner or later....and it's not a big deal....it's just not much fun. Just remember these five things: 1) stop eating 2) don't drink anything 3) if you start feeling the saliva (slime) at the back of your throat, go find some place to spit it out....don't keep swallowing it 4) relax 5) breathe You will not choke and you will be able to breathe just fine. All of us who have been banded still love our bands....I don't think we'd be so in love if it was a tortuous thing, do you?

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting some new exercise clothes too. I'm tired of these ugly big ol' T-shirts and long black leggings. It's HOT too. I am very sad tonight My trainer told me that he's moving gyms to the other side of town. This upsets me to no end. He's such a great trainer and we've become friends. BUT, I can't blame him. He's getting twice the money, half the hours, full benefits and he's 5 minute from home. Sigh. Nobody will be as good as Rory. -
Well, thank you CMP! Honestly, I think it 's the camera lens :tired...it was taken with my iPhone and it has a wierd lens on it. Oh well...I'll take it if it makes me look skinnier!

Pamela - Be careful what you wish for! Sara - Sorry you're not feeling so good I don't miss those days, but I do still like to hunker down under a nice quilt!!...any excuse will do. Hope you feel better. HQ in the heart of London, eh? That'll be a fun trip. Why don't you take a day off to do some shopping while you're there? Buy a wonderful indulgent purse! You deserve it! Denise - Just wanted you to know that I was just funnin' you about the exercise thing. What kind of Nazi would I be if I didn't? I certainly understand about not having the time. That's a hard one to get around. Walk Away The Pounds is a good at-home video...not too strenuous...maybe just the lift you need. Do take care of yourself. J -

You know what just occurred to me? ( Go ahead, guess!) Seriously, though. It just occurred to me that if/when I really ever reach my REAL goal of 150 that I will just sit down and cry. They will be the tears that have been pent up in me for 40 years. And it will be a good day. -

WOW Mary!! What a great story!! You need to post on the thread called "Share with us: What's improved for you?" .... it's full of inspiration and yours is certainly inspirational! And look at all the weight you've lost! Good on ya! I wish Houston HAD hills!! All we have is heat and humidity and flat cement. (But check with me in January, I'll be lovin' it! LOL) -

Long post....got lost. You mean a thread title something like, "Has anyone reached goal without exercise?" "I guess I'm just curious if it is even possible to REACH GOAL without a regular exercise program. If you have, please let me know.... and thanks." something simple like that? Great idea, BTW. Guess that's why you're a successful lawyer! -

Kat - (and the rest of you who exercise) Have you ever heard of the supplement L-Glutamine? It does wonders for helping with muscle recovery... people like you and Rick should keep a supply in your pantry!! You need to take 10 grams after a workout like today and that's a lot of pills. But if you buy it in a loose powder form it really works best and you can mix it into any drink...even water. It is virtually tasteless. I highly recommend it. As an added bonus, it's very good for the digestive system...especially for people who take anti-inflammatory medication (like for arthritis) or who have ulcers. -

The rest of ya'll can just move on to the next post; you've heard me say this 10x at least already. Yes, HH, my fills result in getting progressively tighter for about 10 days and then i level off. Now this could be for a couple of reasons. Let's say it's day 3, and i'm tighter than I was on day 2...but I'm eating the same things I did on day 2....but now I'm tighter and get stuck. This irritates my band, which makes day 4 even worse. So I think I'm going easy with my foods but now my stoma is irritated and the things I could eat on day 3, now I cannot eat....and I certainly can't eat the stuff I ate on day 2! So it gets to be kind of a vicious cycle as you're getting used to your new restriction. By day 8 or 9 I could barely eat anything (except for ice cream, gosh darnit). I am now prepared for my next fill (I think) and as I progress to solid foods I am going to go very very slowly, chew my food very well and pay attention!! If I get the slightest bit stuck I WILL STOP EATING....and go find something mushy or liquid to eat. The next day I will stay on mushies and liquids. Then the following day I will try solids again....going very very slowly. Make sense? Just do yourself a favor and follow the bandster rules to a T for the next 2 weeks and you'll probably be just fine. Good luck and Happy Losing! -

I can feel the port under my skin if I press on it, but that is all. You can't see it. I cannot feel any other parts in any way. Yes, the chance of death is very low, but it's there as it is with any surgery & anesthesia. -
VERY cool, Kimmie!! Congratulations and Nite-Nite!!

Jenn, I suggested this book to you back in early July and I'll suggest it again: QUOTE- That's what I did [journal]. You ought to see the volumes I wrote during my time in the hole. One of the books that helped me get out [of the hole] was In the Meantime: Finding Yourself and the Love You Want. For whatever it's worth to ya. XOXOXO. -

Yeah, whenever I get discouraged I look at the monthly groups ahead of me and see how they're doing. Then you look at the B&A's and you realize that just a bit more patience is all that is required here. I just keep doin' what I'm doin' and I know it's right. I will get there eventually and in a healthy way. I have NO complaints! -

JENN!! This guy has broken your heart in 1,000 different ways...just add this one to the list. You allow him to treat you like dirt and then keep coming back for more!! Does he even know any other way? You need to stand up for yourself and reclaim your power and self-value....however that needs to happen, make it happen, dammit. You're way past due. You know that people will only treat you the way you allow them to treat you. Tell the guy to go jump in a big fat lake. Exactly what do you need him for, anyway? What does he DO to support and love you exactly? DAMMIT!!!
