I am considering getting the lap band procedure – the only problem is that it will have to be done in Lubbock, Texas where my insurance Pres has area network contracting physician. When I first met Dr. Frezza – I felt comfortable with him – but recently I have read some negative things about him - I was told my insurance that I could request an out area network physician – but it would get denied. I think there was some issues in the past with pre-op testing – but my PCP who had to write all the referrals that he requested (Psychologist Evaluation, EGD, Mamometry (performed by GI Physician), Sleep Apnea Test, H-Pylori (lab), Complete Metabolic Panel, CBC w/Diff, Chest X-Ray, EKG, Echocardiogram, A1C Level, Gallbladder Ultrasound, Ultrasound of Leg to rule our Deep Vein Thrombosis, Cardiologist Clearance (to be performed by a Cardiologist only), Pulmonary Clearance (to be performed by Pulmonologist only), and Pulmonary Function Test) – he thinks he is being cautious with pre-op surgery orders. I need some sound guidance from you all – I feel in reading all the post here that you all knowledgeable and a family unit.

Does anyone have any information on a Dr. Lara from the El Paso area, my insurance is sending me to him for my Lapband follow-up. I don’t any information on this doctor would like some insight. He has to be better than the one I had in Lubbock (Frezza) – what a nightmare! Thanks for all your help!

I was told that if I requested an out-area network doctor - it would be diened. Need some help - I have read some neg things regarding the doctor in Lubbock - but when I met him a couple of months ago - I thought he was personable. I was given a pre-op list that contain about twenty different tests on - I completed about half. I PCP thought that he was being over cautious in regards to all the testing - since she had to write out the referals. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

I am thinking about having the lapband procedure - I have read post regarding the bread products - I have an unusual question - I am a practicing Catholic and I recieved "Communtion" does anybody have a problem in taking and recieving commution. Has the it ever got stuck while going down - this might be a deciding factor for me?:help:

Dlia - where and when are you having your surgery - what type of questions did they ask on your psych eval. Also did you speak to someone at the seminar regarding the process.
