    Initial consult

I went to the doctor yesterday and nutritionist. The dr seemed very nice. Pretty cut and dry....although, I am not 5'5" like I thought just barely 64 inches so not quite 5'5". :-( My goal weight for surgery is 230. Realistic goal is 160-170. I did do blood work and I am expecting to be put on iron supplements. BP was down to 148/82. Which is really good considering I just took the bp meds 20 minutes before my appointment.

Be able to go on a cruise and actually enjoy all the activities and not be sidelined 10. To get on an airplane and not be "pouring" out of the seat 11. To be able to sit in a chair at a hair salon 12. To be able to get a massage and not be told can you move over please.
  7. Congratulations! Keep us updated
  8. FYI: I have an allergic reaction to soy as well. Not as severe as yours though. I have had great success with the Amplify shakes. You can only get them from GNC though and from personal experience--not all GNC stores carry them. I like both the vanilla and Strawberry/Banana. 120 calories 4 carbs and 21 grams of Protein. I used this all last year.
  9. This may have already been asked and answered but I thought about it today, what are the best compression garments to get? The reason I ask is I had a myomectomy in 2003 and left the binder at the hospital--stupid me--I didn't think to wear it and or a girdle while I was at home healing so I would have this big flap at the bottom. I usually wear spanx. Anyone have any suggestions, while I am waiting, I want to get whatever I may need now so I don't have to worry about extra expenses later.

    African American Sleevers

Hi everyone, I will be 41 this year. YIPPEE. I am just starting the process but hope to have the surgery this year. My hubby is not so enthusiastic about it but I am doing this for me. "All of my life" I have had boobs and butt. When I was 11 my grandmother passed and my mother and I were both wearing 34C’s can you imagine being the only girl in the 4th grade with boobs. I skipped training bras so for these to go, I am okay with that, it will allow me to wear a lot of styles I have not been able to because of my "girls"…..fast forwarding to today, I am a 40K. Yes, I have to pay good money to tame these "girls". J I have my initial consult on this week along with a nutritionist appointment. I am hoping because I have seen my PCP for weight issues for the last 18 months will count and I won’t be delayed too much. My only concern is I have fibroids, borderline anemia and I had a major accident almost 3 years ago that left me with a titanium rod in my leg. I do have a co-morbidity of hypertension so maybe one will cancel out the other. ATL-I am so glad you started this topic as I have questions about hair loss—I am natural and keloids, if anyone has had to deal with those. Thanks for posting everyone—it helps us newbies.
  11. A year from now, realistically I would like to be 70-80 lbs lighter if not 100. I will like to be able to deal with my insecurities and "love" for food at times. I want to go zip lining in the Hill Country and not be concerned that I am too big to enjoy myself. I do not want to be self conscience sitting in the movies, airplane seat, or any where. I want to be happy with me!
  12. Okay, I think I am getting a little excited. I have my initial appointment scheduled with the doctor on Wednesday, nutrition consult/eval and mammogram. I read one person’s posting that they were approved with Empire BCBS in 9 days. I am so hoping, it will be the same for me. I would love to have the surgery right after my birthday. I sent an authorization to my internalist so that she can send it to the doctor’s office. Hopefully, since she has been treating me with adipex for the last year and half, the insurance company will see that I have been trying with limited success. I know I will have to do pysch evaluation, cardio and maybe another test. Thanks to everyone for their posts and candidness. It really helps us newbies out.
  13. Like everyone else said You look GREAT!!!! Congratulations!
