Wow LilMiss!!!! Nice work!!!! Thank you for the warm welcome and for the info on the NorCal Sleevers. I'm somewhat new to the forum so I'm still learning. I lurked for a while before I signed up. It's such a great source of information, support and inspiration! I did a 7am spin class. I may get a walk in later today. I'm on liquids so when I work out, especially hard, like spin class, I get so damn hungry afterwards!!! LOL That's why I need my sleeve!!! :-) So my stomach growls all day and I can't focus on my work. Hope it gets better. Only one week to go before surgery! Your 5K time was really good!!!! So was your 5.5 miles! You really kicked butt as evidenced by ALL THOSE TONS OF CALORIES YOU BURNED!!!!!! WOO HOO!!! Way to go!!!! Thanks again for starting this group!

Wow!!! What a difference! You look fantastic. You also look very happy!!! Keep up the good work!!! -
Hi Everybody! I hope it's okay to post here. I just joined the group. I'm thrilled to find this forum so thank you for starting it #1! :-) I not a "gym rat" per se but I do like to work out. I like to say I am fit and fat! (unfortunately). I have a date for my VSG surgery coming up on June 6th! I'm pretty nervous but also excited. I have completed two sprint distance triathlons, one at Treasure Island, San Francisco. I've completed serveral cycling events between 25 adn 35 miles. The most I have done on my bike though is about 45 miles. I have also completed a number of 5K and 10K events. The 10k's I walk run since it's too hard on my body to run for 6 1/2 miles. But I can easily fast walk them. Currenly I ride my bike and walk and do some yoga. I go to the gym mostly for spin class, especially if I can't ride outside for whatever reason. I also like the people there :-) I also go to the gym for yoga. I am not currently swimming so I'm not using the pool but I will again soon. I also want to encorporate weights again. I have an area set up at home but I don't know if going forward I will try to use the machines at the gyn. I have attended some group classes and they're fun but I'm thinking I would like to do more intense weight lifting at some point to re-build some muscle and for better toning. One of my goals is to complete a century on my bike for my 50th birthday. I am currently 48! Yikes!!! Time flys! :-) I am hoping this forum will help me with this goal. I am feeling concerned that I will not be able to work out much once I have my surgery next Monday, at least initially. I was told about one month but that walking is okay. I was wondering what other's exeperiences are with this. How soon before you resumed a more vigorous work out schedule? I am looking forward to getting to know you all and to encourage eachother forward.

Date set for June 6; anxiety and jitters normal?!?!?!
mnbsleeve posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Gang, My surgery date has been set for June 6th and I am excited but I have been having lots of anxiety! I wake up at night thinking I'm crazy to do this. In the morning when I look over the entire journey and how I came to this decision, I am comfortable and convinced and positive it's the right thing for me at this time! Is this normal? Did others have these pre-op fears? I also worry I will not be able to think clearly. I am a doctoral student (don't attend regular classes weekly) and fear I will not be able to do my work for too long. I think this is contributing to my anxiety. Any help, support, ideas are greatly appreciated! Best wishes to everyone on the board in their journey! MNB -

Hey Becky! Thank you so much for your response! Congratulations on your surgery! I'm glad to hear everything went smoothly. I totally understand what you mean about taking care of others emotionally! It's one of the reasons I did not want to share this upfront with many people. It's difficult enough to manage one's own emotions and thought process but to have to explain and soothe others etc., it becomes too much. At some point we have to put ourselves first. For me it was a real process determining who to tell and when. Of course my husband has been part of this decision from the begining but then I scrutinized who I would tell and at what point of the process. Much depended on the support I may need or on what I call the "intrusive factor." :-) Some folks just get curious and ask things or involve themselves with things that frankly are non of their business -- even if well meaning. They don't often realized the personal nature of their questions or involvement. So if they don't have that good "valve," they'll find out later... maybe! :-) I have to loose about 100 lbs. too! We'll get there!!! Thank you so much for your kindness and support. I wish you the very best. Take good care of yourself these next few days as you heal. I really look forward to hearing about your progress and I will definitely be in touch! Hugs!!! MNB -

Thank you Griselda! I am learning to be prepared for the "panic" even up to the moment of. It helps to know others have this reaction. I am afraid to express this panic because those around me, like my mother, panic too and think I'm not ready or that my reaction is due to knowing it's a big mistake. My husband gets it. He's been gently saying, "it's okay, you know what you're doing." But my mother freaks out. I'm in my forties but she still thinks I'm her baby and reacts like that LOL. It's natural. I'm a mother too. So knowing pretty much everyone has had these feelings at some point has been so helpful!!!! Thanks for sharing your experience. How long since your surgery? How are you feeling now? Looking forward to reading more about your progress! -

It's my 1 month surgiversary!
mnbsleeve replied to ToDream's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
AWESOME!!!! You make me think to take all my measurements before my surgery. I bet they're even more helpfull if there's ever a stall on the scale. With diets in the past, when I lost weight sometimes the numbers on the scale would not drop but the measurements would and sometimes vice versa. Thanks for posting! -

Thanks AutumLily! Actually, a relaxer pill the night before may not be a bad idea. I will look into it. I have a feeling I may like Samantha and be anxious up to the last moment when the oxygen mask goes over my mouth! :-) I'll work on breathing and staying calm! Everyone here has been extremely helpfull and I'm acutally feeling better already. (I'll just keep re-reading the posts when I freak out! LOL) -

Thank you Nancy! My husband has been a good sounding board for me. I asked him the same thing. He also reminded me of how I came to this decision -- NOT an impulse! -

Thank you Lyn! Yes, yes, yes!!!! I thought that too: I'm loosing on liquid diet, maybe this is pre-mature. But, hellooooo!!! It's not like I haven't tried to loose weight before and, as you say, how can I stay on liquid indefinitely. Also, I've felt hungry and my stomach growls. It's embarrasing. So a liquid diet on the sleeve will probably be quite different, less difficult hopefully. I really appreciate your way of looking at this as a gift. We are fortunate that others in the past did not have this option available. BTW, congratulations to you on your progress and increased health and vitality. You sound very happy and enthusiastic! Thank you for your encouragement! -

Thank you Samantha! Your post is so helpful! I actually felt like crying on Wednesday and it freaked me out because it's not like me. But I can't tell where the stress is coming from. I have confidence in my MD and I've done A LOT of praying! :-) Sounds like I'm right on track!!! :-) This is an awesome group of people. I really appreciate the support I've received. I also appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll be posting with my updates... :-) MNB -
